The reason I attended tonight's city council meeting was to monitor the activity surrounding a bond issuance approved by voters in 2016! Now, you would think if the bond was approved that long ago, those items would be complete or well on the way. Not! I think you will be surprised how these things work if you look into it. I encourage everyone to be more active locally. That's where the rubber meets the road and I personally think the local governmental activity is going to be more important going forward than ever. After a citizen blitz of support activity over the last few months, the council unanimously passed a resolution to issue the bonds from the 2016s election. This included money to expand the library, road improvements,acquisition of more park land and building of fire house #6. yea! Again, I'm very surprised how this worked. In addition, the mayor issued many proclamations including, welcoming other cultures to our area and urging citizen participation. Recognition of the 13th consecutive Allen High School wrestling team State Championship! How do you do that? One of the most significant and touching moments was the recognition of a 911 dispatcher who had previously been commendated for saving a life over the phone in 2018. Last night she was recognized for saving a life on her way home after her shift ended. Wow! Ovrall I was impressed with the performance of the Mayor and City Of Allen Elected Council,the full house attendance of Allen Citizens and the spriti of community present. The old Allen public library is one of the places in Collin county you can vote. But only for early…read morevoting I think. On the actual voting day you may have to vote in your regular precinct. Collin county is using the new electronic voting machines. You still need to have a photo ID regardless of whether you have your voting card with you. The new voting machines allow you to do a "do over" if you don't like the way your initial picks print out. I'm told you get up to 3 re-do's. I did not test this option since I got it correct the first time through. No hanging chads on this peice of paper! After printing your ballot you walk over to a second machine for your actual choices to be counted. A locked safe connected to the machine stores the paper ballots, which can be used later for audits and recounts. Regardless of how you vote, please vote so you can be heard! Otherwise, don't complain. Early voting is February 18-28! 7/2020

All this has been built in the past few years, all at once, like the town had some sort of big boom, and some civic planners sat down and tried to conjure up their own utopia in North Dallas. Parking is easy, there's garages not far from here. There's areas for little shops to give the place some flavor, but it's mostly just a well planned communal spot for events, concerts, shows, farmers markets, and other community events. This is where the courthouse, the library, and the movie theater are all located. Pre-planned to be in the perfect spots. The Frisco Square is a public place that allows for you to hang out and do some of the city planned things for free. They show movies on the lawn, ice skating (for a fee) in the winter with a set up pond. They go all out for Christmas with lights, and visits from Santa. If you work at the local Collin County offices or the hospital, this would be a good place to hang out for lunch break or something.

On Sunday September 20th, 2026 during the Dallas Cowboys football game staff stopped allowing fans in through security checkpoints. Security closed the gates stating we are going inside because of approaching bad weather and lightning strikes nearby. I stated to security "so you're going inside and leaving us out here in the open"? A Dallas Cowboy employee directed paying ticket customers to stand under trees by the entrance? Complete stupidity, we all learned you don't stand under trees in electrical storms when we were in kindergarten. The Dallas Cowboys should be ashamed of themselves leaving fans outside as heavy rain approached and dangerous lightning strikes fell upon the area. They admitted the danger by pulling security and closing checkpoints and leaving paying customers stranded at the entry gates under trees. My wife and I said screw this as the line grew for entry and we decided to leave before it started to rain. Keep in mind most people park a mile or two from the stadium and walk. After about 20 minutes of walking towards our car it started to rain and lightning became more intense. Thankfully security at the "National Medal of Honor Museum" gave us shelter out of the weather. We didn't even have to buy a ticket. Imagine that the "Medal of Honor Museum"providing a safe place for someone needing shelter with a fast approaching storm and charges nothing. We waited out the storm for about 45 minutes here. On the other hand America's so called team "The Dallas Cowboys" sells you a ticket, leaves you stranded outside with approaching bad weather to save themselves, leaving paying ticketed fans stranded and in harms way. What I learned yesterday is the AT&T Stadium and the Dallas Cowboys staff from top to bottom believes in every man, woman, and child for themselves. If the ships going down they will not put you in a life raft, drowning in a pool they will not throw you a life ring. Imagine a tornado approaching AT&T Stadium and security closes the gates and runs inside locking the doors to save themselves. That is what they will do because I've seen how they react with approaching bad weather first hand. This is what happened September 20th, 2026 to every Dallas Cowboy Fan trying to get to the game and seek shelter before the storm arrived. "America's Team"? I think not!
