My new Taylor.

I went to buy an acoustic guitar after many years of not playing because of a serious accident. Lukas was also awesome in helping me to select the perfect nylon string Taylor guitar that has a beautiful sound and is ready to play. Everyone in the store was super friendly and nice. I highly recc6this store! Thanks Lucas!

Carlos is a super sweet and informative employee. He assisted me with picking out my first guitar and what I'd need with it.

They no longer carry band instrument accessories or band items that are needed like your local music stores do

I got my first guitar in July 1960. I've bought and sold 1,000's of guitars., amps, drums,…read morekeyboards, etc... No exaggeration. I owned a 1,500 square foot musical instrument shop from 1998 to 2007. So I know equipment. I've visited Skip's several times over the past few decades. But my last visit was long enough ago that it was at the former Watt Ave location. This new store is visually impressive. Plenty of space which gives the room a majestic feel. It's dramatically lighted. The overhead music system is not obnoxiously loud. It's a fun place to browse. The inventory is all good quality. Every item is a real musical instrument, not a junky toy. No Amazon type crap here. The 5 staff members I interacted with were all friendly and helpful. I stopped in with my family to buy some Xmas gifts for the grandchildren and a few cables for myself. I pre-shopped the items on the Skip's website. The items were in stock. We bought a mini electric guitar for the 6 year old grand niece who actually knows already how to play some basic chords. We also got her a small amplifier, cables, guitar strap... Everything she will need to start her musical journey. Pricing is pretty standard MSRP. I know the price structure at wholesale and retail level and was not going to haggle for a discount out of respect. Profit margin after all the business expenses is meager. There's a high riser stage for in store events & concerts. There's also programs when students perform. Great experience for students to begin public performances (Where, hopefully, they get prepared for paychecks when they graduate to playing at bar gigs, weddings, birthdays and maybe even the big time (if they work really, really hard)). If you or you little virtuoso wants some gear I highly recommend that you shop here rather than at Guitar Center. Shop local, support a family owned business rather than a corporation.

Liz is patient, encouraging, and keeps my daughter motivated and on track with her progress. What we appreciate most is how she also helps guide us as parents so we know how to support our daughter's practice and learning at home. It really feels like she's invested in her success. We're very grateful for Teacher Liz and the positive learning environment she creates. Highly recommend her for anyone looking for a supportive and skilled piano teacher!

Poor customer service. I took an instrument to them to be repaired, called them 6 weeks later and…read morethey did not know where my instrument was. Megan said they would call me back. I called them back later that day and the next day, the manager did not bother to get on the phone with me but was relaying messages to Megan on the phone. They assured me they would be calling me back. The next day. I received a text message letting me know it would be six more weeks and the manager would update me. I had yet to talk to a manager or receive an apology. I texted back that it was unacceptable since they already had it 6 weeks and they lost it. They said they would try to get it done as soon as possible. Two weeks later I was informed the manager would be picking up the instrument and would contact me. A week later Gabe contacted me and was very apologetic for the situation. This was the first apology that I had received. Gabe is the reason this review got one star. He went above and beyond to apologize, communicate and called me more than once. I did get the instrument back. However, when I went to go pick it up, Megan acted like she did not want to help me or recognize that I was in the store. I paid over $300 to have the instrument fixed and my daughter informed me not all the pads were replaced. Very disappointed in this music store and the customer service received. I will be using a different music store in the future

Take your preconceived notions about piano lessons, and set them aside. Read on if you are looking…read morefor something that will work for you or your kid. When I was a kid, I took piano from a nice lady. A sweet, boring lady in fact. It was all about endless scales, boring classical music, and painful practicing. I was the type of kid who couldn't sit still for long and wanted to be outside doing something active. I ultimately quit piano after a short while. It's one of my biggest regrets. I wish I had kept with it. Now I'm all grown up and have a son who showed interest in piano. He's just like me - he'd rather be outside on a skateboard, a dirt bike, or playing baseball than doing anything else. So, of course I figured he would suffer the same fate I did with regard to the piano. Thanks to Kevin Meyer, my kid is still at it. I researched piano methods and teachers, including talking to other parents in my neighborhood. I decided on the Simply Music method, since kids enjoy it - they are playing fun songs right from the beginning. Teachers were a tough choice... Do I go with one close to home when they get somewhat mixed reviews, or do we go across town to Kevin, who is universally loved by Yelpers and personal friends alike? (My friend's daughter "adores him".) We, of course, chose Kevin. Kevin is not the pale, skinny, milktoasty, bespectacled piano teacher I expected. He's a younger athletic guy who looks like he should be holding a piano up over his head more than he looks like he should be sitting down playing one. But, immediately it becomes evident that he is a talented, soft-spoken guy with a knack for teaching. My son can relate to him, and he motivates him to do amazing things. If you are looking for a piano-learning experience that is fun and interesting, with a musician who is also a skilled instructor, Kevin is your guy.

Definitely great for parents if you want an stress-free experience. You do have to do your part at home if you want to progress but he doesn't expect perfection (neither do I!)
