I wanted to buy a new guitar head, I looked at the online stock and decided there were a few things I wanted to try out. When I got to the store it wasn't that busy, but one employee was busy chatting at the desk and then leaning on various walls, staring down at his social media. I asked for some assistance, but he said he was busy and pushed a younger employee my way who seemed to be drowning in the 2 costumers that were already in the store. Long story short I asked to try a few heads out, the younger guy said he'd be right with me, I waited approximately 38 minutes before walking out of the store. I walk in with some guitars and an amp for sale. I came to check out a guitar listed on their web site. First thing they want to see my drivers license and get my phone number before they can give me their offers. The amp is an older hard-wired tubular thing and I mention it was serviced by Skip Simmons. They didn't know who he is. The offers on the equipment were about 50% or less of the retail value, from comps on reverb. The experience was as of a pawn shop with a business model of 100% markup but with no shot at redemption, for people desperate for cash or inattentive of value. read more

Nothing is a fair price, they have rude repair people that don't do their job correctly, they are condescending to people that are just starting out on gutiar or bass or any instrument. Don't bother with these guys, because they won't bother with you. Drove 25 miles to their place based on a trade-in quote, got told a completely different number when I arrive, not because my item wasn't as pictured, but because the guy who quoted me used "old pricing". Then they ran a Memorial Day sale that ended while they were closed (for Memorial Day). So I couldn't take advantage of the sale, because they were closed when I wanted to buy the item. I inquired if they could honor the sale price for one more day for that one item, and was told no, theres nothing they can do. Go somewhere that cares about you, like Skip's Music in Sacramento. I went to the Elk Grove location and was treated awesomely!! They bought my guitar, because I was going into find a smaller body rather then a dreadnought. They answered all my questions and treated me like VIP! They have an awesome selection of guitars. I was trying to choose between two acoustic guitars of orangewood (which is a rad company based in LA) and one guy brought me a stool over so I could sit and play each guitar to hear the difference and another guy brought two guitar stands to hold the guitars. They let me take my time and I spent about 2 hours in there. The repair guy was awesome and friendly too. All in all I WILL be returning to buy things like strings and anything else I need. The manager was quite rude to customers when I came in, I was picking up a guitar and chatting with the technicians while a customer had a question about instruments, and I'm being 100% honest, he was hella rude to this family that just wanted to try stuff out and cold heartedly let them know what the cable is for or whatever the conversation was about. I can't say what other interaction they had but still, I can understand the concept of customer service and that was probably the WORST example. It doesn't help that outside of this building I've seen the fellow I mentioned at the gym and he just awkwardly will sit in the lobby and just watch me workout, like a straight hour eyes glued for an hour. I had no idea this place existed, since our go-to music shops are usually Skip's or Guitar Center. Music Go Round is a bit hidden in the strip mall between Hobby Lobby & Burlington Coat Factory. They buy & sell here so it's a great place to come and make some extra cash on stuff you don't need anymore! They had a lot of inventory when we came to surprisingly. Items are even posted online too. You can even earn a little extra if you sell your item for store credit instead. We were able to get a decent amount on a beginner's acoustic guitar I bought about 10 years ago. We will definitely keep this spot in mind for the next time we need to sell, or look for used inventory! read more

Amazing service. I had a brand-new Banjolele with awful intonation and was just plain difficult to play. Patrick at Music Go Round took a look and quickly diagnosed both issues as excess action with the strings on the fretboard. He took it "into the shop" regrooved the nut, restrung and brought it up to spec. The difference is night and day. The Uke sounds great (well, as good as it can with my level of skill) and is now truly a joy to play. Totally and completely recommended! read more

Awesome work for guitars. I had a vintage Lotus in bad shape and had Patrick replace the tuners, pickups, wiring, pots and do a new setup for the guitar. Came out amazing like a new Les Paul sound on a budget. Patrick was fantastic in walking me through the process since I wanted to learn more about guitar repair and setups. On a side note- the store itself is a music lover's paradise. Probably the best selection of used gear anyplace with reasonable prices. I think that I never want to pay full retail on new gear ever again after realizing how much I can save on used quality stuff. Staff is helpful and friendly. Yay store that focuses on used gear! I'm a fan of starving musician in the Bay Area; this place looks poised to be similar. This place would be awesome for someone just starting guitar or bass or drums, as you could get something decent for much less than a place that focuses on new gear. They have plenty of starter instruments that are in much better shape than what was available to me when I first started with music. They have some nicer pieces of equipment, but I have a feeling this place will age well, once more people learn about it. Some of the staff has some work to do to get a bit more experience under their belt, but I'm sure that will come with time. read more

Terrible customer service put an instrument in to be repaired their mechanic put the wrong part in it wasn't even my pickup when asked them to explain to me what was going on they promptly had me removed from the store so I got the police involved and got nowhere they soaked me for $100 and they didn't even put the pickup in my instrument like I had instructed them too for the amount of $100 instead they put somebody else's and then gave me my back in 86 me from the store because wow I messed up or something right not the kids that work there are lame they don't know s*** about instruments and the owner is a selfish self-centered rip-off who will take advantage of somebody giving the opportunity in a heartbeat I choose not to shop there anymore the man needs to be put out of business we need to get a decent music store in elk Grove cuz that one needs to be closed his instruments are priced about $20 under market cost new anyway I could go on but need I read more
