I've been to every music store that sells guitars in SoCal and now most have closed. Lately I found I favor the staff at this GC. After numerous interactions with the staff and my own gear research, I ended up purchasing a new drum set and guitar for my kids last month. This month needed to deal with a problem I had with my sons guitar and the staff here have been so helpful and made sure I left happy. Yikes, what a mess. I was under the impression that the CEO was taking steps to improve restroom cleanliness. I'll let the photo speak for itself. Other than that, this store is small and has a weak selection. Most guitars are locked up. Plenty of guitars that are about 1k or so are under lock and key. I could understand locking up guitars over 5k. Roughly 2/3 of the inventory is locked up. If you want to play a locked up guitar, you have to hand over your driver's license for them to keep until they get the guitar back from you. This is unfortunately the weakest Guitar Center I have been to in Southern California and I've probably been to over 10 of them read more

Aaron at the Guitar Center repair shop was fantastic. I'm new to playing guitar and found a great guitar for a low price, but it needed some work to sound right. Aaron helped align the fretboard and got the setup dialed in, and after the adjustment my practice finally sounds the way it should. I also learned that when your guitar isn't properly set up, it can make you think your playing is the problem - when really it's the instrument. Not having the guitar I wanted to check out in stock at my local Glendora GC, I took a drive down to the Rancho Cucamonga location to give 'er a test drive. This location was well-stocked and surprisingly busy despite the fact that the (once nearby) Claim Jumper restaurant and most of the other businesses have left this lonely portion of the shopping center. No worries in terms of selection and store cleanliness, however; all is in good order, and the overall vibe is welcoming. I want to personally thank Viper (a.k.a. Erik) for his help in stetting me up with exactly the guitar I was looking for and giving it a good once over to ensure both its cosmetics and electronics (electric acoustic) were in good order before ringing it up and sending it out the door. I've visited this location several times focusing on guitars. My positive observation is that no other guitar store comes close to the selections they have in stock. It's enormous!!! But that's a two edge sword. Their staff size lacks the ability to monitor those handling the guitars. I saw numerous damaged guitars that weren't marked as damaged with cracks, terrible scratches, or a broken part. It's fair to say they were damaged by people handling the guitars. I've read reviews of others that thought they were purchasing new guitars that were obviously used, handled by others. I believe those reviews. Due to my recent observation, I decided to go to another guitar store to purchase my guitar. If you're going to the Guitar Center to personally view a guitar you're looking to purchase, it's the best. If you're looking to purchase an actual guitar, go someone else that doesn't allow for the unsupervised handling of guitars! read more

I come to the store all the time, i got two people to shout out not in any order , Daniel at the guitar repair department set up my Yamaha bb735 its a five string bass and he did a wonderful job the bass plays smooth and the action feel spot on , it goes without saying he knows his stuff. Another note worthy person is Nico (i hope i spelled it right sorry if your reading this guy) He runs the drum department, he has good knowledge on gear and i do trust his word about products. Just another over priced and understaffed store that lacks any sense of customer service. Went to purchase something. Stood there for 15 minutes. Not a soul in site. When I finally found a worker I just kept getting the back n forth run around. Kept getting pawned off on other employees who couldn't help me. So I put the item down and left. I hadn't been to this Guitar Center in over 15 years, and they still have what it takes, even though the store is tucked away in a quiet part of the shopping center. That alone is a good sign. I purchased a Shure mic, a Scarlett, and Beyer DT 990 Pros. I also needed a mic cable and a Scarlett with more power, so I went with the 212. The staff is helpful, but to be completely transparent, I think their workflow could be improved. Cashiers were helping people on the floor when they should have been focused on the growing line of guests waiting to check out. I had to visit the store twice, and on my first visit I wasn't able to get help, which was disappointing. I ended up grabbing what I thought I needed, only to return when I realized I had picked up the wrong thing. Thankfully the store was less busy on my second visit. If they improve their flow, I think guests will be much more likely to return. Otherwise, Amazon starts to look more appealing. read more

Absolute worst service i have ever experienced. I ordered a NEW record player priced at around $350 only to be handed a used one that was damaged with no packaging and cables in a ziplock bag, when i went to pick up. No phone call, no email to tell me it wasn't available. To add insult to injury i asked the clerk if i had made a mistake and bought a used one. After she verified that i didn't she told me that the used unit was all that they had available and that she could not get a new one in store before Christmas. I asked if there was anything she could do and she said that i was welcomed to take the used one or get a refund and drive to another guitar center (about an hour away) to pick up a new one. Will for sure never to back to this location. On another note the Moreno valley location was very helpful and somewhat shocked when i described my experience in Rancho. read more

Daniel in repairs did an absolutely INCREDIBLE job with my partscaster!! I brought it to him because the neck pocket was slightly too narrow and I don't trust myself to make that kind of modification to the body. Especially after I just painted it. It turned out to be a much more difficult task than I thought! He had to route the body to get it closer to the pickups to get the intonation just right, and just right it is! It plays like an absolute DREAM! I gave him 8 gauge strings, extra light springs, and a vega trem with no locking bridge or nut. Yet it STAYS IN TUNE. I can dive bomb (practically by breathing on it) and it returns to center like the man deleted friction! It's beautifully melodic and expressive just how I always wanted! Oh, wnd it took him like barely two days? wth?? Thank you!!!!! read more

Looking for a new guitar for my pops we tested out some Martins and Taylor's in the acoustic room. A warm atmosphere to listen to intonations and varying pickups, minis to jumbos. A playground for the seasoned musician. Staff was limited at the time we visited. It took a little while to find some assistance but once seen they were very helpful and accommodating. Pocket friendly to monthly payments guitar center can be of good service. It's a little hidden in the shopping plaza. In the far back of the parking lot maze maneuver carefully around the in & out drive thru traffic. Ample parking, limited items in store but anything online can be ordered and delivered. read more

Well, I've been thinking about purchasing a guitar so I had called the guitar Center located in Fontana. I spoke to several people a couple of times when I decided to actually go to the store in person first off I couldn't locate the store but once driving around the shopping plaza, I saw it And it was in the middle of the early afternoon and it just looked like it was no one there,,,there was a few cars outside and there somewhat vacant parking lot and I don't know. I just didn't feel like even going inside because I didn't feel safe... from the parking lot it looked like it was closed,, I called the store but received no answer...I decided just to wait and go to the guitar center in Hollywood read more

Went to buy my first electric guitar. No lack of musical equipment here. They seem to have everything I could ever ask for without going on line. Pricing is fair. It's busy here and the staff are few but they are very nice and very knowledgeable. I did buy a guitar but based on advice from a very knowledgeable customer whose playing skills were amazing! I love my guitar and amplifier! I have been back since to purchase other accessories. Yes it's a box store but I highly recommend this one especially if you know what you are looking for. read more

I've been shopping at this guitar center since it opened. Probably longer than most of the employees here are in age. :) Drum gear, guitar gear, bass gear, accessories, sound gear etc.. More $ spent here than I care to really know! I rarely go in now because of online shopping and the ease of Amazon. This place is kind of a miserable place to go. The past 2 or 3 years I've been in around 10 times. The employees are young and they look very unhappy. They make you feel like you are bothering them. No smiles, no feeling that they see you as a customer and a potential sale. Very sterile and just a crappy feeling in here. In contrast, the San Bernardino store is a much warmer place to go in to. The employees are much more approachable and aware that the customer is important. I actually got a deal I was looking for at the Berdoo store that the Cucamonga store person wouldn't honor. read more

It all started when about 2 weeks ago when I came in and Daniel was able to help me make a decision that ended up with me buying a Music Man Sting Ray Bass Guitar, something I really hadn't planned on until Daniel was able to make me confident in what I was purchasing. It was his expertise and confidence that led to me returning to have him specifically intonate my guitar, and he went above and beyond by not only making some well needed adjustments, but familiarizing me further with the workings of my instrument. First time at Guitar Center but not impressed. While they have a vast selection of instruments, books and equipment, some of their products are incorrectly priced. My daughter needed new drumsticks since she lost her other ones. The drumsticks she found were marked as $6.99 and the rep was very nice and tried to sort the issue. He walked with us to the drumstick area where we showed him the pricing. His manager said there was nothing that could be done. The rep that helped us walked back with us and found some $4.99 sticks that my daughter was pleased with. They weren't the ones she wanted but since she used her allowance, they would have to work. I wish we lived in a world where things were reliable and done correctly. This wasn't done correctly but hopefully the next customer doesn't have the same issue with GC. It's good to support local businesses and so tempting to go to Amazon and the world of e-commerce. Guitar Center needs to do better. Run the tapes back and find out who placed the inventory tab in the wrong place or if a customer moved the sticks and placed them in the wrong place. Either way it wasn't our fault, just trying to buy drumsticks as they were priced. read more

Daniel in repairs was awesome. Took my 20 year old sg into get a fresh set up and tuned up and I don't know what kind of wizardry he was able to do but she plays better than she has in years. Megan was super helpful. Store very clean. AJ(I believe), the sales manager came over to help and finish the deal. He is great also. Not a problem at all with staffing, but it is obvious that GC does not care much about it's employees or customer base. Super short staffed, I was in the store almost 3 hours getting my transaction taken care of and no one was able to take a break during that time. I hope they get offers to work for companies that care about great people. I'd hope corporate would read this and take this seriously but I'm sure they won't. read more
