If I could give a million stars, I would. I cannot even begin to tell you how amazing this academy is. First off, the set up for group classes is awesome. It gives a feel like you're playing a show on stage, especially with the lighting. And the owner/instructor, Kyle, is VERY knowledgeable and teaches in a way that makes the lessons fun. I've learned so much just in the few months I've been there. What's great is that we always play along to songs, so it makes me feel like I'm part of a band. :) Apart from teaching, they are also super flexible and try to work with your schedule the best they can. I'm brand new to drumming, but after speaking with Kyle I knew that I could succeed. Best drum teacher ever. I'm learning so much every single week and can't wait for the next lesson. The experience and professionalism hand-in-hand with the laid back and friendly atmosphere make this the PERFECT and most comfortable place to learn drums. I've been taking private lessons with Kyle for about 3 months. I heard about him from a coworker months before and I finally gave him a try. I'm an adult and I was a little hesitant on signing up for music lessons but I've been very satisfied with DSA. I briefly took lessons with another local "music school" and the two experiences have been night and day. If you are specifically interested in drums, this is the best place to go! The set up is great. He's got several areas with full drum kits! One in the back room on a stage for group lessons/classes and special guest clinics, two kits set up in the front room for one-on-one instruction and another kit in the middle room along with hand drums and such. My last music school had one electric kit in a closet and we were only allowed to plug in when nobody else was in the building! At DSA, you can be as loud as you want! Like I said, night and day difference. Kyle is a lot of fun to take lessons with. He's friendly, outgoing, he listens to the student and caters his lesson to the student's goals and interests. He's very patient and seems to do very well with small children too. He's a graduate from Musician's Institute and he's toured with bands so he's more qualified on paper than a lot of other drum instructors I've come across (if that kind of thing is important to you). He's also been very accommodating to my schedule, which changes every week. Price is very reasonable. Private lessons run about $25 a week. I paid the same amount at my last music school and didn't get nearly as much bang for my buck. You also get every minute you pay for, never stopping a minute early or watching the clock like it's some kind of count down. I've had many, many people tell me "You don't need lessons, you can teach yourself, don't waste your money" and let me tell you, the time and frustration you will save yourself is worth the cost of professional lessons! I tried teaching myself for 6 months before I signed up for lessons and I didn't get very far. DSA has been totally worth it! No complaints at all! read more

I felt like i had known him for a lifetime. I've never played the drums before, but i felt a strong desire to learn so i went out and bought a kit. Went in and spoke to Kyle. He was really laid back and had a good vibe. I'm not new to drumming but I am a decade out of practice. Right now I'm just looking into teachers. This school has a lot of potential and I would recommend giving them a look. They have a couple practice rooms and even a lager area with a stage, complete with lights. You can get your rock star on! I got a little sample of Kyle's playing and he had really good technique and amazing sound. I'm not sure if I'm going to take group classes or private lessons but, in the future, I definitely plan on studying there. read more
