I really should have updated this review a while ago but life interferes…read more Anyone who has read my reviews knows I hold Tammy in high regard. My daughter left Tammy's studio two years ago for a bigger pond. In large part due to Tammy's work with Abby and the professionalism Tammy brings to her work and expects from her students, Abby was accepted to study voice at the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music at Cal State Long Beach. BCCM is the 5th ranked conservatory in the United States and, just last weekend, won the 2016 Choir of the World competition at Llangollen Eisteddfod, Wales. I couldn't be more proud. The thing is that Tammy had two students audition for BCCM that year. Both were accepted. The year before that she had a student apply for a prestigious music program. She was accepted. The year after Abby she had two students apply with wonderful music programs. Both were accepted. It's impossible to miss the pattern here. Tammy's students excel, plain and simple. I've sat in on a few of Abby's sessions with Tammy over the years. There is no iron fist here. Tammy's tools are love and excellence. She truly loves what she does and she loves her students. They love her in return. As Abby moves into her junior year and contemplates grad school and the opera program I wonder where she'll wind up. One thing I do know - she owes Tammy a huge debt for helping her get there.

My first review from her Rancho location is below. I linked to her Yelp review for La Crescenta is below as well: In the time my daughter has been visiting Tammy she has improved dramatically. When she started she sounded good. Now she sounds like a pro. She has gained a serious attitude and focus about her singing and the renewed dedication is a delight...after all there are many talented people out there who go nowhere because they lack the hard work needed to transform talent into performance. I have to admit that over the time my daughter has been visiting Tammy...my ear has become more attuned and critical just from the time spent listening and learning from my daughter second hand. In short - if you want to train your voice - this is money well spent. La Crescenta location: http://www.yelp.com/biz/tammys-music-studio-rancho-cucamonga

I started taking my 11 and 7 year old to Rockstars of Tomorrow through our Charter School. They…read moreimmediately fell in love with music. My 11 year old started drums. My 7 year old tried both guitar and keyboard. It was so easy to sign up and pick an instrument. All of the instructors are wonderful with the kids and talented in their craft. My 11 year old stuck with drums and my 7 year old landed on keyboard (although I gave her the option to do both instruments). The flexibility is there for any child to walk in at any age to explore and learn music. The front desk is so helpful and willing to plug you in with instructors to really find the best fit. As a mom, I've watched the confidence of my kids blossom with each lesson. The positivity carries over and impacts other areas of study for their week. Something about a "cool" rockstar tutor delivering kindness through instruction is just magical for kids. The atmosphere is epic. You feel like you walked into a studio. The staff is friendly. Selfishly though, it's cool, dark, comfy- and no dishes to be done. Cool drinks in a vending machine and a nice couch for a mom to scroll on her phone (guilt free) because her kids are rocking out for 30 mins in soundproof rooms. Also, all rooms have windows and glass doors so no kids are ever in rooms where they can't be supervised! It's become our favorite part of the week. When summer came and school funds were done- we budgeted the rockstars of tomorrow in and kept going. We even drive all the way from Wrightwood and fight the Cajon traffic to go. My kids love it THAT much. Met the owners three times now. They're always there making sure everything is running smoothly. They are very hands and involved. Every time they were telling me about the next big thing happening. There's always camps happening and activities going on for the kids. There's an entire community you can be involved with. They have a full stage venue in the location with a full/light/ sound set up for the stage. They teach how to use that equipment as well. They make sure they have ways to get the kids together so they can plug them into bands together. They don't just teach lessons- they're actively connecting the kids and mentoring. I wish we lived closer because I'm getting FOMO just typing it lol. It can be JUST music lessons- but they really do mean it when they say "rockstars of tomorrow." The owner was a professional musician himself. We have Heidi Torress and Matt Lusk. LOVE THEM BOTH.

I recently walked into Laura's Dance Academy wanting to inquire about a schedule to possibly sign…read moremy 4 year old son up for tap classes. My son has been asking to start tap and being a resident of Fontana, this would be the nearest dance studio. So if this would be the closest opportunity to being a dance mom since I only have sons and no daughters, I though "why not". Upon entering, I noticed a very stale smell. This is a very small studio and the front desk/reception area was in the same room as the actual dance floor. Right away I thought, okay, this is obviously not going to cost me an arm and a leg, which was ok considering I wouldn't want to shell out a ton of money only to find out my son hates dance lol. The receptionist looked to be about 13 years old and couldn't show me a schedule when I asked. She called the owner over who asked what I needed. When I explained I was inquiring about a schedule to possibly sign my son up for tap dancing lessons. She immediately responded with "I'm not sure about putting any boy in an all girls class. Try a park and rec class instead". Obviously, in shock, I said "okay?", and left. Discrimination??? I think so. Save yourself the trouble, and find a better dance studio. I've been a dancer most of my life and finally have a chance to discover if my passion has transferred to my child, only to be shown the door. I will never consider this place again and will urge others not to consider it either. Horrible!

In fact, when it, along with the library, first opened, a friend who'd lived in Fontana her whole life said, "This is the nicest thing in Fontana," and she got a little teary-eyed. It really is a nice modern facility. I've taken my students there on a field trip and on a separate occasion seen Paula Poundstone performing there.

I discovered Sean through Yelp and he was gracious, helpful, and accommodating from our first contact via email and every time since. He didn't have a lot of reviews online at the time, but I found out later that many of his students are in the advanced choirs at the local high school and the ones my child knew all recommended him highly. Sean is professional, knowledgeable, kind, supportive, enthusiastic, patient (with kids and parents), positive, humble, and organized. I've sat in on a few sessions and observed how he connects with my child through humor and care, how he communicates concepts and areas of improvement concisely and clearly, and how my child responds and thrives under his instruction. We've attended three of the school's recitals and it's fantastic to see how varied the interests of his students are and how Sean has helped each to improve steadily and consistently over time. We highly recommend Burns Music School.
