Very kind! Restrung my guitar right there and I purchased a new one; very helpful in discussing the difference between options!

They rent out instruments that have been in circulation for many years (14+ yrs) and have sustained dings. Even if you bring up the damage when initiating the rental, they will say "don't worry about it, it's all noted." But be aware, they will get you when you return the instrument! They will charge you and blame you for previous damage the instrument sustained. They are very deceiving and charge you as if the instrument was brand new. Be aware and stay away, go rent somewhere else. read more

I came in to buy a couple reeds for sax. The gentleman at the front was helping a customer but told me he would be right with me. He asked what size and brand reeds. He said they only had 3s in vandoren but recommended rico. That was fine with me. He made small talk and sent us off. Very good customer service. Prices were also fair in my opinion. Showed up for a trial piano lesson for my almost 6 year old daughter. The teacher wasn't there, it seemed something got lost in communication with Richard. I understand these things happen. Pretty sad but it gave me my answer as to whether or not she will take lessons here. Call before you venture over there to make sure the teacher is there for trial lesson. read more

Great people at this store. Brought my son's BCP guitar that was newly purchased from Amazon for restring. #6 string would slip out upon tension right out of the box, would not stay in its place. Brought the guitar in to KYR for restring, thinking I have to pay a labor price. The kind folk there spent his time to tighten the string back up correctly and even tune all 6 strings for my son all free of charge! It's hard to meet kind folks like these nowadays, provide service just to help others. I came here to get my son's guitar re-string. First time and I appreciate the easy transaction. He knew what I needed and also did it himself while I waited. Love this place! All they do is repairs, so you know they are experts. They do a great job! My sax was overhauled and now plays like new!

We ended up only going through with lessons for the littlest nephew because the older one's schedule is just too packed. And, it's been about two months of lessons now and I have to bump up my previous review by a star. This place is EXACTLY what we wanted for him: he loves coming here, loves the guitar we bought here, and loves his teachers (Emil and Georgene). Emil is his main teacher for guitar and piano but whenever teachers have scheduling conflicts, others easily substitute in and out. Fantastic set-up! There are, of course, the little things that could be fixed up just for the sake of aesthetics in the shop itself, but seriously, that's not what we're there for. Really lovely place to introduce the little ones to music. As a lifelong musician and a former piano teacher myself, I highly, highly recommend it. read more

I had rented a trumpet for my son for elementary school use. The first one we rented had an issue and they replaced it right away with a working trumpet. The rental fee was reasonable and the monthly auto-deductions worked well for me. The staff is knowledgeable and very welcoming. I never left the store feeling ignorant because they take the time to give respectful explanations. My son used the trumpet for two years and we recently returned it. I would use KYR again at any time. They have been a pleasure to do business with. read more

Disappointed. I rented a trumpet for my son in the 6th grade. I paid $31 a month for the school year. They gave me the trumpet and I'm not a musician, so I didn't know to take it all apart and check it out to make sure they gave me a good one. I just went to return it and they take it all apart, but say a certain part is stuck. They told me my 11 year old son should've known to take it apart, clean it and grease it. I'm a working mom with a son who wanted to try the trumpet, and I wish when they handed us the trumpet and I paid the rental price, they would've taken the time to explain the trumpet needed to be taken apart, cleaned and greased. They said it's common for people not to know...I'm left wondering why they don't take a minute to warn their customers at the start of the rental. They said they would send the trumpet for repair and let me know how much I would have to pay for the repair. I paid for the protection plan every month, so they said that would mean I only have to pay half of the repair bill. I feel scammed because I honestly don't know if the trumpet part was already stuck when I got it and now if I'm just paying additional to repair their trumpet after paying months of rental and payment protection. Hopefully this review helps other hard working busy parents in the future. read more

We have been coming here for years, and we have yet to be let down. This visit involved having a violin restrung and tuned. The employee was nice and assured us the job would be done within 24 hours. To our surprise, we received a telephone call two hours later. The work had been completed, and the violin was ready for pickup. We decided to purchase the bells kit for beginning band. The young gentleman that assisted us took the time to show my son how to assemble the bells stand, gave him the opportunity to take it apart, explained what each piece was and how to attach the music stand. Terrible customer service. Walked in, no other customers there. Just asked to drop off for a guitar restring. The older gentlemen there asked what I needed, i told him, and then for about 10 minutes he took multiple phone calls and typed into the computer, just having me stand there with my guitar. After standing there like an idiot for 10min I walked out, taking my business elsewhere. read more

My daughter recently joined the school band. We had a list of supplies to purchase, the gentleman who helped us did so very nicely. One of the items (horn grease) was out of stock so he graciously gave us a half full bottle for free. The other supplies were in stock. I recently was given the guitar my mom had as a teenager, and being that I'd never really learned to play guitar before, I had no idea what kind of work it needed or if it was even playable. Sam Ash made a big deal about looking at it so I decided to call KYR and see what they had to say. Ended up bringing it in and the gentleman that helped me out literally could not have been more helpful or kind to my low-confidence in both its playability and my own ability to learn this late in life. He cleaned it up, got it looking fresh and spiffy, helped me out with strings and tuning too. I didn't feel like he was trying to like, sell me things I didn't need either. He was very honest throughout helping me, had great customer service. Most importantly though had the knowledge that I had been looking for with regards to this guitar. Knew what needed to be done and made it happen. Didn't try to make me replace all the original hardware that I wanted to keep. I'll definitely be coming back here for all my musical needs. Similar to a previous review, I had a bad experience with the manager in charge, think his name was Rob. When I had checked in to see whether or not my instrument had been repaired and returned, I was given a speech about busy business due to band season. I understand the whole situation and am literally part of the "band season customers". What is more concerning is that I have to go out of state, and literally cannot retrieve my instrument unless it is finished before my departure. What i don't understand is why my service is not in progress when I sent it in a week prior, but customers who just sent in their instrument and demand it be done the following day are used as an excuse by the manager to not finish my instrument, talk about relative urgency and priorities! The only repair that had to be done was changing one singular pad. I was literally told "if you wanted it to be done, you should've sent it in weeks ago." Promises as to when it would be returned were literally backtracked and denied when it seemed that the instrument would not be here on time, and for some reason, the manager became upset and felt disrespected when I had tried my best to be polite. To be CLEAR, they failed to meet TWO deadlines. People deserve second chances, but the bad ethics, do not recommend. read more
