I've been planning to let my boy study piano since he was 3yo and I've waited and researched ever since until he is 5. We are so lucky to find this Music school! Ms Jennifer is full of patience and energy. She makes learning piano so easy for a zero basis student and she can always catch a 5yo boy's attention. Only after 2months my son can play several songs he knows and he voluntarily practice at least twice a day and around 1hr total. I've introduced a couple friends to this school and they are all happy with their teachers. And the equipment and school environment is very neat and welcoming. Definitely recommend this place!

Very organized and clean studio great environment

My daughter has taken lessons here for several years, starting with piano, and we've had mostly…read moregreat experiences with the teachers. When one teacher wasn't the right fit, the staff was flexible and supportive in helping us make a change. The director and front desk are thoughtful, accommodating, and always focused on what's best for the students. Recently, my daughter switched to cello and absolutely loves it--her teacher, Jasper, is genuine, respectful, and makes learning the cello feel relaxed despite its challenges. Recitals are fun, and we're so happy with the program and its affordability that we plan to enroll our other kids in piano group lessons for music theory. We'll update this review then!

We signed up through the city recreation program. It was advertised as Introduction to Piano. It…read morereally should be Introduction to musical instruments since other instruments were introduced. I felt mislead, but my daughter ended up enjoying it. She really wanted to play the piano so we continued to take the classes. The way they teach piano is by scales, Solfège. The monthly tuition at the moment is $137 per month for 1 hour lesson once a week. They take zelle, card, or cash. The classes are pretty big in my opinion. Maybe 10 kids per class. I think it's way too big. Especially with little kids. Should be 5 kids per class or maybe 4. I say that cause I can see the instructors are trying to keep it together when the littles get out of order. One of them rebuked my 6 year old child for touching some instrument. I couldn't see what she was doing, so I didn't say anything. It was quite embarrassing. I'm the parent I could have taken my kid out to speak to her and tell her not to touch anything and spared her the embarrassing rebuke in front of the whole class, but anyways. There is another music school in Walnut that teaches piano by letters. Might be a good choice for a kid that wants to learn piano seriously. It's called Tchaikovsky school of music. The price is reasonable for 30 min private lesson depending on what level of instructor you choose. Which is better for little kids cause it's shorter. They'll also work with you if you need reschedule, and wont charge for days the instructor is on vacation. Music N Smart is a decent music school, but it's only 1 out of several you can choose from. They wont work with you if you need to reschedule and will still charge full price if they are on vacation.

He…read moreaccommodated us at the beginning with 3 classes a month until I started working, it was something he agreed to without hesitation before signing on with him, which we appreciated greatly. **Edited to add that we never missed a payment and never made a late payment. However, we started to notice him getting frustrated at our daughter while reading notes (we sat in her classes). We brushed it off until she expressed how she felt like crying once off his reaction. He had forgotten that he had never gone over flats with her, just sharps, and got frustrated when she wasn't able to read them in a holiday song with a lot of note variation. He would teach her something once and expected her to perfect it right away, providing no extra support if she was struggling with something. The class seemed unorganized too. He doesn't expand on music theory either. He refused us make-up class too, although his policy states that he does them....it's credit he doesn't give for missed classes. We understand he has a business to run but the way he went about answering was extremely rude, unprofessional and confrontational. I have never had an interaction like that with anybody. He might've taken offense at me questioning why we were being denied a makeup but his reaction was very unprofessional. We decided to let him know that this would be her last month of classes but that it was pleasure seeing our daughter grow in his class. She missed the class before last due to illness but when I asked about a makeup again he said show up 15 minutes earlier.. When we showed up to her last class at 2:35 (for her 2:45 class), he said we were late in a confrontational tone. We were only late ONCE the entire year we took classes with him (if anything he would see us late because he was running behind). I stated her class was at 2:45, very confused, but let him know that we were late for the makeup part of it. We understood we were forfeiting makeup class time, which we were only getting 15 minutes of anyway. He stated it was at 2:30 and we were late so he would only see us until 3:00. I know the class is at 2:45-3:15, it was in our agreement over text which I have proof of. His reaction seemed like retaliation for ending classes with him and for the makeup class interaction. I decided to leave class as my daughter looked uncomfortable and he replied "have a nice life!!" I suggest rewording his makeup class policy so it's clear that makeup classes are conditional to certain terms. Parents don't brush off your children if they express feeling uncomfortable with a teachers style. I wish him and his students the best!

Felt very scammed by Patrick…read more. Overall very nice person who seems to have a passion for guitar. Just not the right teacher for someone who wants to learn more than songs. I spoke with him over the phone, stating that I wanted foundational teaching and NEVER to learn a song in class. Learning a song I could do on the internet. Properly progressing on guitar, learning theory and basics of styles is what I wanted in class. He said he could totally do that. To which I was excited. I show up and the first thing he does is open a boom full of songs. Asking me to strum chords to brown eyed girl. I proceeded to reiterate how I don't want to waste my money learning songs in class. To which he opens another book full of songs for me to learn how to play. We start looking at basic chords - but skip over all the prior knowledge of holding a guitar the strings etc. Oh to mention, i am also left handed and read everything differently than those that are right handed. He has no solution and basically tells me to figure it out. Great!! Overall awful lesson and 35 dollars I'll never get back. Wasted my time and money on someone who is simply not interested in listening to what I would like to be taught. Again great person. But not the teacher for someone who wants structure, and to learn the foundations of guitar. But for someone who wants to learn songs, he is great!

One of the most valuable skills developed is to overcome stage fright. Ms Lulu encourages students to do self-introductions, modelling/cat-walk, sing, dance, and build overall stage presence. This may sound simple but can actually be quite challenging. Being able to confidently acquire this skill takes a dash of grit and more importantly - the opportunities to practice! Ms Lulu works hard to consistently create these opportunities for students in a wide variety of settings! From one-on-one voice lessons, to formal recitals, to community venues, to municipal events, to modelling at fashion shows, to filming music videos, to singing national anthems and performances at crowded sports stadiums, to highly advertised music events in crowded college campuses. Our daughter even got to experience singing in professional grade music recording studios! The value of these experiences in building a child's confidence is absolutely incredible! If your child is considering playing an instrument, sing, dance, or doing any sort of performing arts - This IS hands down the BEST studio! I highly recommend giving them a chance to help nurture and showcase your child's talents!

It's an amazing setup for kids who are interested in performing and want to build stage confidence in a supportive, encouraging environment.
