I can't believe I've waited this long to shout out Mr. Goran, who's been an absolute treasure in instructing my daughter on the viola. My girl, bless her introverted heart, dipped her toes into viola in middle school in 2021. By the spring of 2022, she wanted to level up her skills, but finding the right teacher was a saga. None of the recommendations from her school panned out, until fate stepped in when I spotted a sign for in-home music lessons, and the rest is history. Two years on, and I couldn't be happier with Mr. Goran's impact. Sure, my daughter's still a bit shy on stage, but behind the scenes, her progress is something to behold. She's heading to high school soon and even talking about auditions for the advanced orchestra - all thanks to Mr. Goran's attention and encouragement. I enjoy listening to her practice and as someone who doesn't read music or play any instruments, I am glad to have Mr. Goran visit every week and amazed at her transformation. What's great about Mr. Goran is his friendly demeanor and stellar communication. He understands kids - especially awkward teens like mine--no fuss, no drama - just pure dedication to his craft and his students. Finally, the fact that he comes to our home to teach the lesson is such a blessing. I have 2 other kids who have other activities so between soccer, volleyball, swimming, and Boys/Girl Scouts.... we don't have a lot of time to drive around because we do that a lot already. This is one less trip! This school's dedication to meeting kids where they are: mentally and physically is a true gem! Mr Goran's enthusiasm is contagious and he has such a gift for working with young children and has taken my 6 year old and 8 year old from no experience to both quickly learning songs and performing in a recital in about 5-7 lessons each. At the recital we were able to listen to several students playing and meeting other teachers. All of the students were taught very well and had great relationships with their individual instructors. My 5 and 10-year-old sons have been getting piano lessons from Goran for several months now in our home in Upland, on our own piano. He's an amazing teacher, and both boys are learning extremely quickly. Goran is passionate about music, his students, and his business. I couldn't imagine a better teacher for the two. There are not many people that can keep up with the energy of two young boys, but he does it easily by connecting and engaging with them. My boys are flying through their music book, reading music, and playing songs independently. They can't wait until their next lesson! He gets them excited about music. On top of being a great teacher, Goran is great at communication. He sends us a video of the boys at the end of each lesson, showing off their improvement. When we needed to move a lesson, he worked with us to accommodate them. I don't leave reviews on Yelp often (usually, it's when I'm frustrated with a service), but I had to stop and leave one here. Our 8 year-old son recently said he wanted to learn violin so we started lessons with a local teacher someone referred. However, after just a few lessons we could tell it was not a compatible match. Our son has an abundance of energy which his previous teacher did not see as a strength. I came across The Private Lesson School on Yelp and that is where his world of violin truly started. I read through the website and saw literally what I envisioned for my child's musical journey. Our son plays piano as well but piano was something we introduced to him versus for violin, he specifically asked to learn it. The teachers with The Private Lesson School are all dedicated to teaching each student with individualized lesson plans with positivity. They aim to motivate the child/student to not strive for "perfection" but to enjoy and learn at the same time! Lessons are at your home which is so convenient. Our son has 30-minute lessons, and it is such a treat to see him learning, to be excited and engaged, and to have his passion for violin fed.
