I first called to see how long it typically takes to restring an acoustic guitar when 1 string is broken. The guy who answered said it could be done same day, or could take a couple days, depending on how many guitars are in line for repair. Thankfully he also told me the tech was coming in in a few days, on Thursday. When I brought it by on Thursday, I got to speak to the tech & show him the guitar. He explained the 2 options and what's included for the price. At first, I was experiencing sticker shock - I'm not a musician, so I didn't expect things to be that much! BUT I bought the guitar for my kiddo 5 years ago & hadn't done any kind of upkeep, so I bit the bullet & went with the higher option. Vincent, the tech, surprised me & got it done in just a couple hours. I was able to pick it up before closing time, which was a nice surprise for my boy. Man. I am glad I went with the top deck (something) option... it looked like a brand new guitar! He really did a terrific job - the wood looked all smooth & conditioned, the strings were tight & low, it was even tuned... my son was verrry excited about it! This is where we bought the guitar, and we'd definitely go back to this Guitar Center for repairs & future purchases! I love that they sell used gear too. read more

Never a bad experience going into GC. I always make my way to the acoustic room. The store is moderately clean & organized too. I feel like it takes quite a bit for time to get an associate to the counter to purchase things though. I also don't think the consumer should have to purchase a guitar in order to test it out with other guitars of similar quality. I am looking to buy & need to narrow it down, with all of them on-hand. I ended up buying my Martin from another location, but it was thanks to this location as well. Looks pretty cool in here but there's no reason to buy anything here when you can buy everything online for the same price but cheaper. I came in to buy something from another guitar center and wanted them to ship it to this location as it was closest to my place.I asked if they shipped it to my place for free which they said they do but... when I checked it actually doesn't so, minus 2 stars for that. On the receipt it says shipping is $0 But then it has shipping and handling for $7.74 I'm not sweating over $7.74 but the face that they told me shipping was free but I got charged that annoyed me. read more

First of all, they're not in an indoor shopping mall like the one in Orange so it's easy to park right in front and walk into the shop. Access is important for some of us long in the tooth! The guys there are extremely helpful, even when it's obvious they're super busy, and knowledgeable as well. The manager Rob is a super nice guy. Came in looking for tube replacement for my amp, waited about 10 min at the service counter till someone came over to answer a phone call.. after he gets off the phone, asks me if I need help I said yea, he lets out a huge sigh and annoyingly walks over. I asked if he could help me get some replacement tubes or had something similar that would work in stead of what I currently had. He said he had no idea. I said ok thanks and he walked away. No,"let me find someone who can help" or "let me look it up" just walked away. I left, googled replacement tubes and ordered off reverb. I literally get better service on reverb from sellers who I have never met or talked to in person than I have here at this guitar center. read more

This guy Frank was a HUGE help with my purchase. He was a really chill dude and he had helped me and my homie with figuring out which strings to get depending on what we're playing. I play lower on electric and go lighter with acoustic and Frank helped me get some good quality strings for BOTH guitars that i just put on today and they play nice and they give me the tone that im looking for. The store in general is really cool, i like the selection there and the other workers are really cool too but i didn't catch their names unfortunately, but this place has really GREAT customer service and i'll definitely be checking it out again. read more

Purchased a bass online that stated it would come with a hard-shell case included, but it arrived at the store without one. The front desk worker tried his best but obviously didn't have the authority to rectify the situation. You would expect a manager to be of help, but the best I got was a take-it-or-leave-it. Obviously, I'm taking the bass I already purchased but it is disheartening to receive poor customer service. This Brea location is one of the locations that are large enough where they take certain types of guitars still. Cerritos didn't and I didn't wanna drive all the way to Hollywood. I traded in three guitars, I wasn't expecting to get the price that they offered me. I thought they were going to lowball me, and I was ready for that, but they gave me a much better price than I anticipated. I used it as credit to buy the guitar that I wanted . Please train your guitar tech to be respectful to customers. The sales people were busy but I wanted a guitar pick to test out a few guitars I was interested in purchasing. The guitar tech was the only person in sight, i simply asked him for a guitar pick....he replied like a jerk and said I don't have one, didn't even acknowledge me as a customer and kept his eyes down. What a jerk. We all know he has a handful of guitar picks in his booth or he could just acknowledge me as a customer and say he "doesn't have one but I'll find you one". I was in the store 12/22/25 around noon. Because of him, I immediately knew I wouldn't buy a guitar this trip when I was mentally ready to buy. This guy needs to be talked to. I was having an issue with my guitar sound cutting out, so I took it to their repair center. Vincent was great, super fast, honest, and very attentive. It turned out to be a super simple fix, just some dirt or buildup, and he was honest about it. He could have easily told me I needed a full output jack replacement, but he didn't take the opportunity to upcharge. He seems very trustworthy and respectable, and everything works perfectly now. The customer service here doesn't exist. Bought iRig stream barely 3 months ago. Don't use it every day. It stopped working a couple days ago. I took it back and was told "oh you bought it 3 months ago, cant do anything" i told them i bought the extended warranty and just want to replace it. They told me to call the number on the warranty plan, handed me the plan in Spanish. I told them i don't read Spanish, they said the number is in English. Cant read anything the plan says and the fact they didn't do anything to help, makes me not want to spend anymore more money there. What a joke. read more

I ordered a like new Flight 4sb baritone ukulele, which was at one of their stores in Florida. After waiting for over a week, it finally arrived. When the box was opened, there was a flight tenor ukulele inside. Pretty disappointing. Now I have to wait 4 days for the money to get credited to my card. This store and its employees essentially represent some of the reason why physical stores are dying. Awful employees who don't know anything. Incompetence levels that are just shocking. I walked in with the intention of purchasing a $6000 amplifier but instead left the store within two minutes. Embarrassing kids who can't even play guitar assessing equipment. Or even how to turn on a bass amp - not joking. The amp I was there to purchase has been in stock. "a very, very long time "according to the employee. Then proceeds to tell me that the price is firm despite it being a used item that's been there "a very, very long time". Well it looks like that amps gonna be there a lot longer and you blew it on getting the commission or at least credit for a $6000 sale. Get that employee a dunce cap, asap. One final note. When youre displaying and trying to sell a rare amplifier that is over $5000 that is WHITE - you might not want to use it as a shelf to display other lesser amplifiers on top of it. It's going to tarnish and mark up the white tolex that makes this amp exactly what it is and gives it its value. The stupidity is astounding. read more

Wish I could give 0 stars. This store has gone from bad to worse. I don't know why I continue to give them a chance. I think I get lured in by the decent deals but always forget this staff is the worst sales staff ever. Tried to charge me $100 because my used guitar I was trading in wasn't set up. I've played professionally for over 20 years and have impeccable setups on my guitars. I jokingly said "cmon that's bullshit you know over half of the guitars on the wall need a setup yet you're not discounting those $100". He agreed but said that's the responsibility of the mfg. Additionally, my guitar didn't need a setup. I feel that this practice is in bad faith and deceptive as is just a way for them to rationalize a lower trade in price to those that aren't knowledgeable. His boss (who doesn't even have a business card) said "never mind we don't want to do business with you" if you're going use that language ("shit"). This isn't the first time I've received horrendous service. Previously I had an experience so bad that I even had to report them to the BBB for how they handled the sale of a used guitar. It felt like borderline fraud. This place has not changed for the better. You've been warned. read more

Short version: Shout out to the lovely Aaron over at the repair desk and to the patient clerk Aydan who helped me purchase and fix up my new guitar (Fender CD-60SCE). Long story : I went in to exchange a guitar I had purchased but wasn't in love with after I took it home. I was trying to upgrade from my original beginner guitar that I got over a decade ago to a brand new one. So, I went in and exchanged the new one I had gotten at an LA store for another at the Brea store. I went in and chatted with the dudes over at the repair desk about trying to find a guitar that had lower action (the space between the fret and strings) and they kindly walked me through some suggestions. I ended up playing a couple of guitars on the floor before I made my choice. Then I went over to the counter to purchase and refund. Aydan was super chill and knowledgeable about which strings I should buy to avoid the issue that I had with the LA purchase, so I took a chance on his recommendation and it paid off! Between the Ernie Ball acoustic medium light bronze and my new low action Fender, the sound and feel on my fingers are silky smooth! Also, Adam had remembered me from the day before and grabbed my guitar from the repair area before I had asked (awesome service! But also... I don't know how many black folks shop at the Brea center so he was probably like, "oh yeah!" Lol ) Anyway, I was kinda of worried going in about being talked down to because of my lack of prowess with guitars, I'm more than a beginner but slightly less than intermediate, and these dudes did not make me feel dumb. I felt heard and listened to and that was nice. Now, I just need to come in and get help with my strap and perhaps for some in-person lessons. Anyway! Much love to those two dudes. Was so excited to see that they had a brand new Jim Root Telecaster in stock at Brea. When I came in person the brand new guitar did not exist despite what their website had stated. The website also said they have an open box version selling for $1,200. Neither of the guitars existed despite being listed on their website. He's a very professional and has good tone of voice, and of course, he is very knowledgeable and helpful. I had called in earlier, but nobody answered the phone so I decided to press another button and I got transfer to Ray and he spoke with the service tech regarding my call. I ended up having to come to the store to let them look at the situation. They did not charge me for the service because this could be done very quickly and easily. Also, very glad that another great employee with long brown hair and he was with another tech in black guitar center shirt. I forgot his name because they were so busy and they were rushing, but he helped me push out a pin that was stuck originally.
