I had to go here recently to pick up a harmonica, not a guitar, for my kid for school. I was surprised there was a wide selection from cheap plastic makes, to expensive well-made styles. They definitely had what I needed in a pinch. The service here was also exceptional. The workers guided me to where I could find the instruments as well as answered questions throughout my selection process. If I need to make another purchase that is music related in the near future, I will certainly go here. read more

Stopped in to pickup a new guitar. I am relatively new and wanted to find a step up from my current setup. We walked around for an hour with zero employees offering help or assistance. Finally got a hold of someone and their response was "i am busy and off the clock I don't have time to deal with you". Store was cool and I had high hopes but just a classic mainstream store. read more

I'm a fan of Guitar Center generally, but this is the best I've been to, at least in terms of customer service. I came by just before closing, looking for a cheaper model guitar to get me by on a trip. The manager was awesome. Told me to take my time, no rush... He pulled guitars down, patiently waited (without looking over my shoulder or making me feel rushed) while I tried out half a dozen, picked one, then tried three more. He gave me great insight on his experience with some of the less-expensive models I was checking out. I left happy with a trunk full of new equipment. (Only criticism was a lot of out-of-tune guitars that day.) Thanks guys!! read more

This a unique experience. So, I ordered a used speaker cabinet online and had it shipped. I received an email saying the cab had shipped from the store, though it was going to my old address, I don't know why. I called GC and spoke with someone who I couldn't understand well, she said she was going to cancel the order and resend to the right address. The next day, I call again because I was supposed to get another email from the first girl about the cancellation and readdress but didn't. This person says it is still in route to my old address!!!!! He said it looks the system glitched my old address, I told him I made an order before and it was sent to my correct address. He says he will fix it. This happens two more times!!! each time i have to explain the whole story, a total of 5 times I explained to 5 different people, only one of them was actually helpful. So, after all that, my cabinet is sitting in the driveway of my old address, my old neighbor called me and told me it was there. GC canceled the order and picked it up 2 days later and brought it back to where it originally shipped from. I get a refund and buy it again. The guy at the store was nice enough to repackage the cabinet before shipping to me but noticed some heavy damage, like cracks and chunks of wood gouged out. So I am expecting a significant discount, NOPE! He says I can either get a refund or 10% off. Really!!!! After all that!! GC is a large corporation that does not actually care about their loyal customers. They will make a dollar anyway they can. Most of their employees are ignorant and lack any sense of customer service. My advice, buy local, buy from a small business, stay away from Guitar Center. read more

Guitar center of Robinson Township is absolutely one of the best music stores I've ever been to! From Tony, one of the managers to Ben a service tech, these guys are top-notch. They make you feel like a real person and answer any question. Knowledgeable and helpful better than any music store in Beaver county Pennsylvania! they're worth the drive to get the service and sales. Every customer deserves. If this place didn't have a wide selection of guitar manufacturers I wouldn't bother with them. The service is awful. It's worse now because of COVID protocols they have in place. Apparently only one employee out of the five or six total that I counted inside the store is permitted, or can be bothered, to clean acoustic guitars for customers to try out. Literally 2 or 3 people walked right by me waiting in front of the acoustic guitar room, and said and did nothing. Maybe I was supposed to ask if I could buy a guitar? Or maybe business is so good, they don't need to ask "do you need help?" (shrug) I know the guys who walked past me worked there because they were stocking product/adjusting things in the other areas of the stores after they passed me by. Another 2 employees were sitting behind counters (one where people sign up for lessons, and another towards the front of the store - and no, there wasn't a line of people waiting to buy stuff. Plus, there was another person working the checkout in the middle of the store). Even more laughable, when I arrived AND when I left there were 2 employees outside. One standing post to give patrons instructions on how to follow arrows on the floor, how to wear a mask, how to not touch anything until someone feels like helping you, and in the event you get to pick up a guitar, how you should only play it for 15-20 minutes. And another employee smoking a cigarette. If it wasn't for the 1 out of 5 or 6 guys working inside, I wouldn't have a new guitar. That 1 guy helped me with the guitars I wanted to try, followed up with me while trying them out, cashed me out, and resolved a problem with the case my guitar came with. If only more places sold Taylor, Martin, and Gibson. Enjoy your brand monopoly Guitar Center. Ugh. read more

This Guitar Center rocks; pun intended! Great manager and great staff. When I think of musical equipment, and service, I think Guitar Center Pittsburgh. I've shopped, sold, purchased at other Guitar Centers, and shipped to GC Pittsburgh, and have never been disappointed by the service or selection. Shopping for an instrument or accessories is a process, not a "drive through" experience. The staff there always try to give each guest as personalized an experience as possible. I recommend this Guitar Center highly if you're in the market for accessories or a full blown instrument. They take the time to find you what you need and are always friendly, and professional. Guitar Center has been slowly heading downward for years. Way too many folks just noodling around and precious few staff who know their stuff. Stopped by to buy a new vocal mic and headphones. I ordered a used pedal from Pittsburgh Guitar Center.  It came with an incorrect power supply.  If I had not noticed the power supply was 15 volts more than the pedal uses and that the polarity was reversed, it could have ruined it. The power supply was also in bad shape as the cord coming out of the supply box was twisted sideways. I emailed Pittsburgh Guitar Center on the situation, they apologize and said they would send me the correct one.  That was 13 days ago on Oct 20 and so far I had not heard from them since.  I emailed managment 2 days ago and still no word from them.    1st problem was that I ordered it on Sunday Oct 14 in the afternoon, by Tuesday the 16th, it had not shippedy yet so I called them to to get it shipped. 2nd problem, when you pay for something listed in "great" condition as this item was, you expect to get it in working condition.  Before writing a review,  I gave them a chance (3 emails), to correct the problem which they said they would but didn't.  I will never again buy anything from the Pittsburg Guitar Center location.  Right isn't always easy, but its always right. read more

I went in to buy a guitar stand and case. I was told I wasn't wearing my mask properly. Lol! As soon I was told this I turned around and walked out. I was also the only one in the store. I'm actually being serious. 99.7% survival rate. Another brainwashed company. Anyway, I found a stand and case on amazon for about 25% cheaper. Perfectly happy with that purchase. Went in today to buy a microphone. Neither of the 2 employees talking to each other seemed interested in helping me, so I went to the "self service" mic display. Not only was 1 of the 3 pairs of headphones there broken in half, but different mics were hooked up to different headphones so you can't get an accurate comparison. What a waste of time. My son was taking guitar lessons here. He really like the teacher. They do auto-pay for the lessons. I don't like auto-pay but did it because my son wanted the lessons. Payment was supposed to come out on the 20th. They didn't try to take the payment until the 25th. This caused me concerns about auto-pay . Store manager, Chad, didn't care. Didn't try to work with me. Treated me like a dirt bag that was writing bad checks. read more

I am learning how to play guitar. I have owned an acoustic guitar for years. I decided to purchase a video game call RockSmith 2014 via Steam. This will allow you to plug an electric guitar into your PC and play various of games "Simon Says" fashion through guitar chords. It is very cool and a much better way to learn guitar. Walking in... I felt intimidated. I need some accessories for my guitar. I ran to Guitar Center on a Sunday. The place was packed. It did not look packed in the parking lot. There were people in there playing drums, guitars, purchasing accessories, etc... The attendants although very busy were helping customers carry equipment to their cars, select equipment, etc... I noticed that they were very knowledgeable for a rookie like me. I now have a basic electric guitar and strumming to some Elvis Presley Songs (RockSmith entry song)... I am looking forward to the Def Leppard and Blink 182... keep your fingers cross. I may be famous one day :) If you are interested in an instrument, accessories, or just some cool stuff (t-shirts, playing cards, etc...), check this place out. read more

Guitar center has always been a place I enjoyed spending time at. Years ago coming here to play around with instruments made me purchase one to take home. After falling out of it and not spending a lot of time on that anymore it's nice to come back and try new things and get inspired again. I've been thinking about picking up a electric drum kit for sometime now and this location has a lot on display to try. The staff here are very friendly and helpful when needed and I always appreciate that. Everything here is kept neat and clean so that's not anything to worry about. For the piano section tho I always find it a bummer when none of the synths are hooked up to play with cause that's something that interests me a lot as well. The prices here can be a bit high but they do offer a good selection of stuff. A lot of the time you can find things cheaper on musicians friend and they will match the price if you find something better. I'll continue to come here when I'm in the area. read more

Decided to get back into Violin after decades and decided to see what GC had. Found a decent model intermediate Violin at the Pittsburgh store. I called from Cali in the evening and Faith picked up the phone an hour after they were closed. Faith quickly got a manager approval for a discount and finished the purchase. The staff working there on Valentine's Day need some corrective attention. The repair guy had a bad attitude and acted in a disrespectful manner. One or two of the others were helpful but most stood around talking to each other instead of helping customers. Worst of all, they simply would not let go of trying to sell me a service plan. I don't need three kids half my age pestering me about something like that. First time I had a bad experience at one of these places and I've been to many. read more

While browsing on-line for a used ABY amp switcher, I saw one listed at this store. I called to make sure that it was indeed in stock as GC.com's inventory tracking can lag by several days. The salesman found the switcher, so I ordered it over the phone and paid for standard ground shipping (5-6 days). The salesman warned me that their delivery trucks had come in that day and they might not have to manpower to ship my package on the same day - which was OK with me. I placed the order on 12/27. Very dissappointed. Purchased a not-cheap stage keyboard for my daughter. Salespeople at the store were fairly helpful and even helped load the unit into my car. Got it home and stashed it away until Christmas eve, when I wrapped it. THAT'S when I noticed a UPS shipping label on one end of the box to a customer 5 states away. Looking more closely, the package had been very carefully resealed. IT WAS A RETURN!!!!! Crap. When my daughter opened it on Christmas day, it was poorly repackaged inside and the manual was missing. This unit had been shipped halfway across the country without an outer box, had been opened, used and repackaged. Apparently, nobody at GC checked the package to make sure it was complete. NO REPUTABLE STORE RESELLS AN OPENED, USED, INCOMPLETE ELECTRONICS RETURN AS NEW!!!! Of course, they no longer have any more of these in stock. Check boxed goods purchased here VERY CAREFULLY! I the only time I had a worse customer experience was in a bridal shop. I walked in, cash in hand, motivated to buy. The snobperson was utterly disinterested. Here's what I learned while I was there: 1) All his coworkers are morons. 2) I should ignore what the other guy might have to say because he's new. 3) If I have questions, I should go on youtube, but he can't show me because of the store's firewalls. 4) He doesn't really have anything to show me (despite the fact that when I was poking around I came across a giant pile of boxes of what seemed like what I was looking for). 5) People he knows from before are more important than customers literally in the middle of asking him a question. read more
