Experienced the best customer service with Daniel when I bought the Yamaha P125. I returned 2 days later because the poor welding on the stand broke and collapsed causing the keyboard to fall and break. Called them up and Johnny the manager and the person who took the return was very kind and took care of the problem right away. Can't thank them enough. Because of the pandemic, I expected retail folks to be grumpy and it was not the case at the Oxnard GuitarCenter. They were very helpful. read more

I've never left a review iofa business until now. This guitar center does not care if your there to buy a guitar as they don't even great you walking in. After 20 minutes (felt like 45) in the acoustic guitar area still no one came into greet me I already knew what guitar I wanted I drove 60 miles to get there. Anyway if they don't like the way you look they will not help you. Upon leaving there were two employees in front of the store, I asked one of them "don't you guys have any sales people ? I just can't believe the experiences I've had as of late here. I've gone through the hardest times of my life Lately and all I want to do is indulge myself further into music. I thought I could do this by getting a few things from guitar center. I went here and picked up a used interface some new monitors and a used mic. None of what I got is amazing equipment but nonetheless it costs money of which I don't have a lot. So I didn't use the mic right away. When I finally did it was missing the adapter that connects the mic to the stand. So I went back and asked if they sold that piece or if there's universal shock mounts. When I approached the employee for help he was sitting on his phone and seemed annoyed that I would interrupt him texting or browsing or whatever he was doing. Then he told me that I have to go to the manufacturer and there's nothing he can do for me. Shortly after the manager approached me and informed me that there is universal shock mounts however I had to pay 50 bucks just to get a cheap used mic on the stand but it was my only option so I bought it. This morning I go to use my mic that I finally have on a stand and when I plug it in I find out what appears to be a damaged xlr input on the interface I had bought when I got the mic. I can plug my guitar into the instrument input but the xlr mic input will not work. This store has really gone down hill. In addition I can't seem to get real knowledge or help from not one employee other than the one manager that approached me. He seems to be running a store of employees that he has to babysit. A second time I went in the guy that was helping me just disappeared for 30 minutes. When the manager called him out to help me he took his sweet time. I'm so over my experiences at this store. There's gotta be a better option and I'm gonna find it. Literally all I wanna do is make music during very hard times in my life and every time I get something from guitar center I just end up wasting my money because they sell defective used gear. I was in Guitar Center, Oxnard Monday and the same employee ignored me I was in there about six months ago I waved at the gentleman for service he mumble something I thought he was coming back I stayed there 10 to 15 minutes waiting on him eventually someone else came to help... this past Monday I was in there again I went in the back to the audio section the same employee was behind the counter assisting someone else I stood there 15 to 20 minutes waiting on him to complete transactions with that gentleman after completing services to the man that was already there before me this employee walked right past me did not acknowledge me did not say ma'am I will be with you in a minute ma'am sorry for the wait he went out to the other cash register by the front door I went and stood at the entry of the audio section noticing him helping someone else I went back into the audio looking around for what I really came in there for which I couldn't find so I went back to the entry of the audio looking at him as he was walking someone back into the guitar section I got my camera out went towards him as he was opening the door and I said excuse me when he turned I got his picture... The gentleman that he was about to assist turned with a smile because he did not realize who I was saying excuse me too I then walked to the counter to get assistance,, that employee then grew with concern and came to ask me could he help and I asked him why did he ignore me like that I would never have treated anyone the way you treated me why would you do that to me why no answer he says I have tunnel vision I said no no you are wrong you are wrong you are wrong you need to check yourself I then went to my car and called headquarters who never returned my call I asked him to please look at the video you will see how I was ignoring no one returned my call I have a picture of the employee if I could place it in here I will try anyway bad service I am very dissatisfied with them will actually with that young guy read more

Last time I reviewed this store, I had only given three stars because one day I'd go in and it'd be awesome, and another day I'd go in, and the service was far from being service. Yesterday, I went in to trade in an old acoustic that I don't play anymore, for a much better guitar. I'm happy to see that the staff I encountered was professional and friendly. The staff member who helped me with my transaction yesterday made it easy, and when it was complete, even polished my new guitar and tuned it to pitch. I seriously hope GC continues to deliver great customer service like that, hence why I gave the fourth star. Now I feel a lot better shopping here again. Very under-staffed, RUDE & SNEAKY I wanted to sell some of my gear to purchase something new and the guy was literally trying to rip me off offering me an amount of the value of a lower model of what I was bringing in, he knew what he was doing if not I would not post this in... Bottom line the store and its products are good but the in pro audio area the people are very shady. Not to mention as he was helping me he said I need to go help another customer because yours is just gonna take too long because you forgot your ID earlier. Been mine this remark was made after I already brought my ID and he was in the process of finishing my purchase but he still insisted I'm going to help someone else instead because mines going to take too long "in those exact words" horrible character! Not complete douchery, but 3 employees standing around shooting the poop while several customers need help is 88% douchey. I mean, I was about to drop a few hundred bucks on 88 keys and I needed someone to help me. Example: I couldn't find a sustain pedal for the keyboard I wanted so I found a guy doing restock and asked him where the Sustain pedals were. He pointed and said, "Over there." "Where?" I asked. "Back there near the bass guitars." And then he continued stocking. Woah, woah, woah. I worked in service and I remember having to walk the customer over to the merchandise in case they had any other questions. I left him to restock and walked to the bass section. Wouldn't ya know it! It's exactly where I'd been standing and staring in search of the sustain pedal. Scotoma? I think not. The sustain pedal ended up being *behind* the cash register and, yes, I bought a keyboard. I bought my husband a 4-string electric bass for his birthday. Got a great deal, had excellent staff assistance, and they even gave me a minor discount for a few scratches I found on it. They didn't have to do that....very nice. Too bad I don't play any instruments.........I see others were not so happy, but not only was I happy with the service and selection, my husband is head over heels in la-la land with his brand new bass, which he can now "slap" with the utmost of finesse. I would say they were shorter staffed that day... But.... All the guys working there were really on their moving and getting to it game... Which is very impressive!!! I received a new Gretsch 5420T in White a few days ago. After a couple of days the 5th and 6th strings started buzzing a lot. I messed with the guitar a bit, but was unable to figure out where the buzzing was coming from. I took the guitar to Guitar Center to have their Tech. look at it. When I walked into the store a salesman asked if he could help me. When I told him why I was there he took me to the Techs. desk and called him right a way. The Tech (wish I got his name) was there within 10 seconds. I told him my problem, he fix it without question and without charge. Between the salesman and guitar tech. They both treated me with respect and were very helpful. I'm a 68 year old man and it was nice to be treated well. Something that's scarce now days. Thanks much Oxnard Guitar Center. read more

Wow, nice to see I'm not the only one who thinks they're clueless. Well, add me to the list after my first AND LAST visit. This is not a long story because I didn't spend much time there. Basically, my son's guitar had a nut that was worn and also needed to be restrung. Walked in, and girl behind the counter asks "Can I help you?" And I replied, "Yes, my son's guitar needs to be restrung." She replies, "Yeah, our tech's out until Tuesday." So I said, "Ok, can you at least tell me if it CAN be restrung or if this part (as I point to the nut) can be fixed?" She replies, "Yeah, uhhhh, yeah, I really don't know. You'll need to talk with our tech. He'll be here on Tuesday." UGGHHHHH!!!! And you earn a paycheck?? For what?? I'm sorry, but I can get "Uhhh" at Walmart and Costco, but specialty shops need to hire people that KNOW something about WTH they're selling. Smart marketing... put your most clueless person at the front of the store. WTG G/C. Don't waste you're time there. read more

After spending thousands of dollars at this store, over the past few years, the staff here has convinced me that they no longer want my business. In my last visit, I walked in to purchase a Soundbrenner Pulse. I live 1.5 hours from the store so I never go there to purchase something unless I've called ahead to make sure they have what I want "in stock". After verifying that my Sounbrenner was in-stock, I walked in 2 hours later to make the purchase. I could not find the item on the sales floor. I asked the 1st GC associate and the told me they didn't carry that product. I ask a different associate and they tell me they do carry that product, but only online. I went to the customer service desk, they quickly concurred with the 1st two associates and dismissed me as if I was bothering them by trying to make a purchase. I finally insisted that they check their inventory - their "computer database" inventory (as they started looking around the floor). OH! What do you know?! They have 21 items in stock - but NO ONE knew where they were. Finally, someone volunteers to go check "the back". They emerge from "the back" about 10 minutes later with a dusty box - the product I was looking for. Then I asked if anyone had experience with connecting this product to a DAW. The immediate answer was, "Oh, I have one. I use one. You can't connect it to a DAW." Again, I've already done my research on what the product can do. I point to the side of the box where it says, "connect to your DAW". The sales associate then says, "Oh. I don't know how to do that". The ONLY reason I made that purchase that day was that I needed the product that day. Then I reveal that I'm here to make a claim on the wireless mic system they sold me. They sold me insurance by saying, "If anything goes wrong, bring it in and we'll take care of it for you with the insurance or give you a new one. That's the Guitar Center Guarantee - for only $149" That is until you make an actual claim. Then they point you to all the do it yourself forms and phone numbers. The people running this store think they're cooler than they really are. You work at a Guitar Center in Oxnard, bro, you're no rock star, not even close. Being too cool to do your job is pretty sad, and with the management you all have, I can see why that "too cool to do my job" culture persists. The thing that gets me the most is the fact that many of you are musicians, but a lot of you also have some pretty crappy attitudes. People come to your store because we love making music, but you guys are a real turn off to that. If you're that unhappy with your jobs, making all them angry faces when customers walk in, not helping fellow musicians out, being snobs... maybe It's time for a new job? Ask for a raise? Quit and make some music? I'm not normally a complainer, but your manager, who was working on Thursday, August 20, 7ish PM, is a real keeper. The cashier paged the manager 5 times before he came out to help. Not only that, when he had an answer (we don't have any in stock), he walked right past me and gave the answer to the cashier. I hardly give out 5 star ratings on yelp. However, this review also does not cover only one visit, but multiple visits spanning about a year. An associate here at this guitar center in Oxnard has made an indelible impression on me. His name is Alfredo. It seems every question about a piece of gear is answered with a knowledgeable assurance by this guy, and have led to many purchases I feel supremely satisfied with. I have several good experiences with this fellow, but I have included only my top three from this past year. -First, I came in a long while ago looking for an iRig HD 2, and a had a few important questions/reservations about it. He helped to clarify a few things and I felt much more confident about what to expect from the product. I bought it, and have absolutely no regrets since! That's saying something, having paid $100 for a tiny plastic box. Great buy, that I use all the time. -Next, I bought a Boss Vocoder V0-1 effects pedal, and was looking for a good microphone to pair with it. This is a special guitar effects pedal that lets you add your own voice to your guitar playing, which makes for extremely futuristic effects. Once again, Alfredo helped me find a good mic, and even let me test it with the pedal and a mic cable! It was great, and I bought the $200 Sennheiser mic and a mic cable. Still super satisfied with that purchase. -Lastly, this past Friday(which happened to be Black Friday) I came in to the store to return a small mic preamp and audio jack adapter. I simply wanted to return the preamp because I bought the more costly version that has better suited my needs, and no longer had need for this one. While there, I also decided to buy a couple of pick packs and a can of fret conditioner for somebody. Of course, when I walked into the store it was busy as grand central station up at the front counter, and so I walked over to find those pick packs, when Alfredo found me. We talked about our thanksgivings, then he asked how he could help. I told him what I was there to do, and without being pushy, he told me that if I was ready, he could help me out at the register in the back, where the DJ equipment and mics, etc are. I said yes, of course! He didn't make me feel bad for returning something, and he saved my butt not having to stand in line all day with all the Black Friday traffic in the store! Then, all of a sudden, he told me, "Let me go check on that can of fret conditioner! I'll grab a can for you." Which I had actually forgotten about! Now THAT is good service, and a sharp memory/mind put to use. *All in all, if you're ever in the store, ask for Alfredo, or 'Freddy', He'll take good care of you PS If Alfredo ever reads this: I record & release music under the moniker 'Custom Johnny', and my song All Night was all recorded with the help of products that Alfredo helped me to choose and purchase. ( both buying and selling and mostly high end gear) I even go so far as to stick up for them when I see senseless bashing on them in other public forums. Unfortunately, Guitar Center Oxnard has consistently proving to be the epitome of poor service. A life long retailer myself, I can say without reservation the lack of integrity, product knowledge and overall professionalism at this particular store has turned me off big time! ...enough so that I am spending the time to post on Yelp to alert others. I went in to buy a pioneer ddj-sr dj controller. I had a couple of questions for the associate. I walk over to the desk where the associate is and hes eating a sandwich. While im talking to him asking questions he doesnt even bother to put the sandwich down. GC atleast tell your associates no food on the sales floor! I live in oxnard but thanks to this associate i'll be taking my buisness somewhere else. UPDATE! After the minor hiccup, the store manager called me the day right after. His name is Jon, great guy, reached out to me was really sincere about his apology on behlaf of him and GC as a whole. I cant tell you how happy i am about the situation and outcome. Jon is a real genuine guy, fixed the problem i had corrected the customer service and gave me probably the best service ive ever had after being upset. He got me to come back in and gave me all the info i needed on the pioneer ddj sr. GC definitely did the right thing by giving him the store manager position. This has my "go to " guitar center for 2 years. Since the re-opening of this business due to COVID -19 I have visited the store 4 times and driven away due to ridiculous lines out front. Today I decided to wait in line (after all how bad can it be) only to find out they won't let you inside to shop, you have to tell them what you want and they fetch it for you. I for one , love to browse guitar stores and when I need a specific adapter / converter I have to play around with the pieces. That being said I waited in a line ( only 2 people in front of me ) for 30 minutes while no one from inside came to check on us, the people in front and back of me were arguing about politics and using nasty curse words I won't repeat here. It was enough time for me to get on my iPhone, select my items online and order them delivered to my door tomorrow morning. Alfredo was a little arrogant prick. I walked in just prior to putting my mask on and he wigged out like the cry baby he is. He tried kicking me out even though my mask was on. I refused to leave and proceeded to the Drum section to purchase an electronic drum set. He refused to assist me and called the cops telling them I was being aggressive towards him (which was not true at all) The manager came out and was very accommodating and helped me with a great attitude. Unfortunately the set I wanted was sold out. I would much rather give my business to a small business then some entitled little brat. read more

I won't be back again. Spent almost $5,000.00 there over the last few years. Needed a guitar replacement and went to GC in Oxnard, CA. Way overpaid and didn't realize it until I noticed the much better deals on line. My fault for not checking first but the help in that store really needs more training or more people. Also....when working musicians need a place to try equipment out it's almost impossible to hear anything as kids or non-musicians come in going nuts on instruments they don't know how to play and are not going to buy anyway. I went into my local Guitar Center store to purchase a thumbpick for my guitar. An employee came to assist, and I asked for a certain make (National). He said they didn't carry them only the Dunlop brand. Since I never used a Dunlop I asked if I could try one to see how it fit. He told me I would have to purchase the pack first before he could open them up. I said this doesn't make sense. You want me to go through the motions of purchasing before, then if it doesn't fit, I have to do a return. Then another purchase to try the next size. He said yes. I thought to myself, this is stupid. First you put a customer through a purchasing process. then a return process. So now you got a customer pissed, the store now has a product that they cannot re-sell, and possibly two if the customer doesn't like that second one. Is this really how guitar Center does buisiness? So you open a pack, who cares? You'll write it off either way. I guess a customer who has spent alot of money it that store isn't worth it, as is any other customer. read more

Am in the market for my first guitar and stopped in to check out what they had. I got excellent help from Jeremy in the guitar section. He showed me several guitars and played them all for me so I could hear how they sound. He was really knowledgeable and I learned a lot about wood choice, sizes, styles and brands. And there was NO sales pressure at all. It was a great experience. And I was very hesitant to go in knowing their reputation for being high pressure sales people. read more

Uh-oh.. guitar string broke... would I rather tear out my own hair and weave it into a string than visit Guitar Center Oxnard? Ya, it might be less painful. Although the majority of Gutiar Centers I've visited around the country haven't been bearable, the one in Oxnard is sadly UNBEARABLE. To start off the GC in Oxnard is very small, there's not really one section that has very much inventory. Of the inventory that is there (about 6 drum kits, maybe 100 guitar, little to no recording equiptment and maybe 25 pianos) it feels as though everything has been played and beat on so much that I doubt they could pass it off as new. The keyboards have dirt and fingerprints, I've played guitars there that had serious neck and fret wear, and the signal processors for recording are all open boxed. That's the ok part of the store, the staff on the other hand just take this review from bad to worse. If anyone has ever visited GC you are surely accustomed to being harassed as soon as you walk through the door by commission hungry sales-kids who will make sure to ask if you need help from 2-14 times and if you do have a question generally need to go get the manager to "double check". Not only are they pushy but they don't understand the concept of NO or I don't need that today or even "I came in here to buy a $50 microphone...I know the $300 one is better but I obviously can't afford that. To top it off the sales tax in oxnard is 8.75%. Truly save yourselves the time and hassle and order from www.Sweetwater.com, www.musiciansfriend.com, or even www.amazon.com. Guitarcenter both online and off is a true travesty to music stores and music as whole. Next time I desperately need strings I will check walmart and bestbuy first. read more

Not horrible, but not great. They offer the biggest selection around, but that's not saying much at all. I've never experienced the trouble with employees that others have, but I know what I'm doing. If you don't, it probably sucks. When I have asked for help they know what I need about half the time. Do research before you go in. Don't pay them for simple things you can do yourself like re-stringing. That's silly. I would be pissed if the person I talked to had no idea tho. Buyer beware. Ordered a new fender guitar for my daughter. When I went to pick up at Oxnard GC noticed the delivery was in a Luna box. Had manager open the box before I left the store to find a damaged/used guitar. The manager said his store would never ship out a guitar in such bad shape. Ordered the same guitar again but had it shipped to the west lake store. When I arrived at the west lake store to pick up, it was the same Luna box with the same damaged guitar shipped from Oxnard. read more

I was in the market for a guitar for my boyfriends Christmas present and the folks here were really helpful. I went into the store a number of times and they even helped me find the perfect guitar on their website. When I was caught in the middle of a shipping fiasco with the devil, I mean UPS, they did everything in their power to get me the guitar and called me almost hourly with updates.
