Shoutout to Brian for singlehandedly turning a "run in, grab a cord, leave" errand into a genuinely great experience. My husband and I called ahead to check if they had a very specific cord. Or chord. Or cable. Honestly... we didn't even know what it was called or what it looked like. Brian picked up the phone, listened patiently while we tried to describe this mystery cord using absolutely zero correct terminology, and somehow immediately knew exactly what we were talking about. Wizard behavior! Not only did he figure it out, but he also set it aside so it was ready for us when we walked in. From there, he kept the same great energy: super kind, patient, helpful, and with a really fun sense of humor. No rushing, no eye rolling, no "how do you not know this" vibes. Heads up, if you see an elder man with gray curly hair just kick yourself out. Complains about noise level when it's clearly not it's causing trouble hearing but, has the urge to have a say so in anything. Ex : I'm using a $3,000 guitar that I was seriously considering to buy from the store. For all my guitarist out there it was a relic SG which clearly has scratches on purpose. Mr gray hair well call him noticed me with my jacket on. Abruptly interrupts my playing and says take off your jacket... obviously when my girlfriend say that it's off right away. However if a strange old curly haired guy does this you only imagine the reaction. "Why?" Were my exact words. He mentioned your are going to scratch it with the zipper. Not only was the guitar a relic but my zipper was at most touching guitar like you touch a baby just ever so slightly on the rear body of the guitar. Why I give it two stars you might ask. Simple a man in his mid 20' gave me the look that helped me feel seen in a large crowd. Love that guy. Ps: what happened to the jam set up in the drum section?? In the market for a new speaker for events and I found myself at Guitar Center. It's one of the only places you can still go for sound / music equipment, which is why I presume this location still exists. Thankfully, I had a super friendly team member - Eduardo - help me select my speaker and equipment, so for that I am thankful. However, the management team here seems to care quite little about customer service when there quite frankly aren't many customers in the store to begin with. When I went to check out, I waited 15 minutes for a manager to answer the team members pages to come and unlock the door where the microphones are located. No one seemed to acknowledge or care that other customers were looking around helplessly with no assistance. Thankful for the gentlemen who helped me - the only positive experience about my visit. read more

No one spoke or acknowledged that I was even in the store. They would walk past me, in front of me, and on the side of me but it's like I was a ghost. I really wanted to buy a ukulele and the case and I wanted information about the difference kinds, but I felt so disrespected. I could have stolen merchandise or something. I felt like I had a "do not help this customer" sign on my face. At first I thought it may have been due to my race, but even the black employees ignored me. On 05/27/2022 I called Guitar Center to speak with the manager that was supposed to call me back, which he never did, due to a refund for a guitar service they could not perform correctly by their tech back on 05/14/2022 . This manager whose name is George Alvarez had an attitude since the moment he picked up the phone almost like I was bothering him and careless to really lose his job. He kept saying he needed me to go in person in order to get the refund back, I live 55 minutes without traffic and I was trying to find an alternative to save the trip to go there again, he said that there was nothing he can do, I asked to maybe speak someone that might be able to accommodate but he kept saying he is the manager and didn't care to provide any other solution, all of this with an attitude. I did ask for his manager and he started to raise his voice, I told him that I was going to reach corporate then, he said that I can do whatever I want and then abruptly hung up on me just like that. Guitar Center should be aware of this kind of behavior displayed by someone who is the face of the company running their store and providing this type of customer service, I don't think nobody should be treated the way I was treated hurting ultimately business. I feel that person should not work in the service industry or retailer anywhere. He was flat out careless, unprofessional and very rude overall. I am so not going there nor am I going to refer any body to do so ever, instead I'll continue to go to the competition where I get to be treated like anybody should be! Such a shame. read more

Guitar Center on a Saturday... Fail. We came into Guitar Center today with the goal of purchasing a Schecter Guitar and an Ibanez Bass. The bass is $299, and the guitar is $899. My boyfriend chose a strap for his potential guitar, and I chose one for my potential bass. He got some extra strings he needed for another guitar at home, and a KISS sticker. We went up to the counter and they had trouble finding the whammy for the Schecter. They tried forcing a whammy bar that clearly does not belong on that guitar. After failing to find the appropriate whammy bar, my boyfriend gave up and said decided we were just taking the bass. The sales rep disappeared and we waited around like idiots for about ten minutes waiting for someone to ring us up. My boyfriend had his credit card and ID in his hand willing to make a purchase. There were plenty of associates there that could have assisted us, but they didn't. They lost a huge sale, and we don't plan on doing business in the Kendall location anymore. read more

I then spoke to an associate who organizes personal classes and thoroughly explained how it was and was very informative as to my interest. First able they took 3/4 weeks to tell my that my "item" could no be repair so i did not go for few weeks or a little more to pick it up... The point is a Manager cant say this to anybody. i dont understand how that Guy is in customer service. He should be doing movies where he destroys enemies or anything. I am tired of giving this store second chances. I have no idea how they stay in business, except for predatory practices against international less savvy buyers. Today, I call, verify stock, ask for item to be held. 20 Minutes later person I spoke to doesn't appear and turns out they had no stock. 2 weeks ago purchased something, took it home and broken. Was told they gave me the wrong one, it was open box and slated for repair. That same day had to stop a sale of an amp to a customer that on three separate occasions asked if it would work in Europe and was assured it would. When in fact it wouldn't. Enough guys. You have jobs. Take pride in then. Stop lying. That's why Sweetwater is killing you. My advice to the owner: If you're going to have only two employees in a store this big, busy teaching middle C of a piano to a customer and putting down a professional, you better close the store. This young employee who served me will never know that the real purpose of my visit was to start planning for my new $250k TV Studio. I've been purchasing at various Guitar Centers for many, many years. This location is very disorganized. We went in to purchase numerous items including an electric keyboard. The keyboards on display did not match the placards which were supposedly describing and pricing the displayed items. This made selecting an instrument challenging. We finally were able to purchase a keyboard but when we unpacked the box at home we found that there was no power cord. We called the store and they told us to return the keyboard and that they would replace it with a new box with a power cord included. We repacked up the box and drove back to the store and upon return we were told that the keyboard did not come with a power cord and that "the salesperson should have told you that when you made the purchase". Seriously.... not to mention that they should have told us this also when we called to ask about the missing power cord. Upon returning to the store with the purchased item, as suggested when we called, were told that we needed to purchase a power cord separately. Wow!!! What poor customer service. read more

do not get your guitar repaired here. had it in nicks shop for 3 weeks. we talked about putting new pickups in and said the old ones were bad. so, i said okay fine and about 3 weeks later I go to the store, and he hasn't even done anything but took the strings off. he said yeah sorry man the pickups are bad, so I'll have to rewire it. and he says this like we didn't already go over what was supposed to be done, so I just left and took it to musician's discount which fixed it in 3 days. he also never gave me back the strings i gave him to put on it. so it actually costed me money to bring it here hahahaha. read more

I just had easily the worst retail experience of my life. I went to the store today to buy the Moog Subsequent 37. There wasn't one on display (most synthesizers weren't connected to speakers anyway). I went to the counter for synths and waited for a few minutes while the manager looked to be busy. I stood at the counter and waited and after maybe 5 minutes he asked if I was waiting on something. I answered that I was waiting to be helped and he started an argument about why I would stand there and not ask for help. I said, because you looked busy. On August 5, 2023, I purchased a used Fender 12 String Electric Acoustic guitar online and I drove an hour to the South Miami Guitar Center before the store opened to pick it up. I went and showed my receipt to Dylan and he told me that another customer was holding the guitar and he was going to just void my online order. At one point Dylan lied to me and said the other customer had already paid for it, even though the store had just opened and we were standing at the only open cash register and the only time the other customer came up to the counter was to get a guitar pick, not ever paying for the instrument. Dylan was adamant that he was not going to recognize my purchase so I left the store. Approximately 2 hours later, i received an email that I requested my transaction be cancelled, which i didn't do. As of August 8, 2023, I still have not gotten my money back. I guess it is better to shop local rather than Guitar Center. read more

This is my local Guitar Center. If your a musician, I know you've been here. They sell guitars, amplifiers, percussion instruments, keyboards, and pro-audio and recording equipment, + some! You'll always find me in the pro-audio/recording section of the store. As a pro DJ and Voice-Over artist this is where I usually demo all of the newly released gear! The next time your there - you just might catch me putting down on the turntables. I usually put down a small set on the 1's & 2's and it always turns into a mini in-store concert. They take forever to do a simple transaction. To just give them your guitar to fix a string, they take forever to complete it through the system. On top of that, I have fixed my guitar before and it broke just after 2 months. 3 days ago, I came back to fix my B string. They took forever as usual. I call the store and the technician said it was ready for pickup. I specifically asked her if it was ready and she said yes. I come the day after to pick up my guitar and they charge me. They took forever to get my guitar in the back, AS USUAL. I opened the case of my guitar and my string is not even fixed. They then, took 20 minutes to contact the technician. The technician said I never asked her that, which is a lie. The most simple problem, fixing a string, they could not do and on top of that I get charged... unbelievablee read more

I don't know why I'm always intimidated to go in here...maybe it's all the knowledgeable staff or b/c they're usually attractive in that hot rocker sort of way, but I definitely won't let the stop me from coming here again. I brought my acoustic/electric guitar from work in - in hopes to have the electric part repaired. It was half way working and could be fixed all the way, just not that moment. I mentioned that aesthetics weren't a big deal, it was for the Christmas show the next day at the non-profit i work for so I'd deal with it and bring it back later. The repair guy quietly fetched the piece needing replaced and went to work...he also changed my strings and cleaned up the (probably NEVER before cleaned) guitar. THEN, he told me I only needed to pay for the parts. How's that for a sweet Christmas story? So then I paid for the parts, bought some more strings (that I was previously going to order cheaper online but have obviously since changed my mind) and left guitar center with more faith in humanity. read more
