They kept my $200 deposit, after telling me the cello was in perfect condition when I returned it. I asked for that in writing and the employee said he couldn't do that, but that he'd vouch for us when the owner got there. Four hours later I got a text with the image of a small corner of a cello with a small wood chip saying it was damaged and they'd keep my deposit to repair it, all $200. No other explanation, no proof that it was my instrument, no reply to my text. Just "hey we are keeping your money." They were liars and thieves from the very beginning. I was told all the strings were brand new. One month in, a string breaks while my child is playing. I take it back and they say I have to pay more than $100 to fix it, reiterating they are all new strings and blaming my child for breaking it. A few weeks later, her private teacher is playing the cello and another string snaps. She tells me all the strings are old and worn. She repairs it herself because she too had a bad experience with them and refuses to send anyone there. She also said that replacing a string should be about $20, not more than $100. That is beyond the point since they rented us a cello with worn strings and should have replaced them no charge. A short time after that, her school teacher, the very person who recommended them, said they gave her a terrible bow, completely frayed. He told us to take it back and tell them that he said so, otherwise they'd blame it on my daughter and charge us for that, too. We did what he suggested and they did not charge us but replaced it with another terrible bow that also frayed. I will never set foot there again; I will also file a complaint with the BBB. If you want an ethical, professional company I strongly recommend you look elsewhere, but not these fraudsters in Miami.

No…read moreWelcome, No Desire to Help & Cold Cold Demeanor Last week I went to visit Albert at 6 String Theory under a recommendation from a few friends. I drove 20 minutes South with two amps that were having some concerns. When I walked up the stairwell I was immediately met with coldness from Albert. I told him I was recommended by people we both knew and that didn't seem to interest him. I told him I had the two amps that were having issues. He told me right away he couldn't help cause the Amps weren't his speciality and then soon after admit that he wasn't even sure if the amps had tubes or not. I asked him simply just to look at them to tell me what was wrong and I also had a replacement top for one of the amps that he could have used for parts. An easy job and he wasn't even willing to do that. He never once made me feel welcomed and made sure to let me know that even if he could do the work he couldn't get it back to me for over a month. Fast forward to a few days later I took the Amps to Margate for repair. Two days later the Amps were fixed. One was a fuse & the other was a circuit board and was easily switched out with the new piece. All together the guy said less then 30 minutes worth of work and an easy job. So instead of supporting a local Mom & Pop business owner in my field in my city, I'm treated with the highest level of disrespect and very simply put, someone who wasn't interested in helping a fellow Musician at all. When you're in a local Mom & Pop business, word of mouth is everything that keeps your doors open. When you blow that opportunity, you're lucky if in 5 years you are still open because that word spreads. Don't be in the customer service business if you don't want to deal with people. Fix the guitars & amps and put someone with a smile and a desire to see people at the front to deal with customer service. Or chord. Or cable. Honestly... we didn't even know what it was called or what it looked like. Brian picked up the phone, listened patiently while we tried to describe this mystery cord using absolutely zero correct terminology, and somehow immediately knew exactly what we were talking about. Wizard behavior! Not only did he figure it out, but he also set it aside so it was ready for us when we walked in. From there, he kept the same great energy: super kind, patient, helpful, and with a really fun sense of humor. No rushing, no eye rolling, no "how do you not know this" vibes. Just good energy and someone who clearly enjoys helping people. We went in expecting a quick, boring stop and left in a noticeably better mood. It's wild how much a genuinely good interaction can do.
