Service is bad here. I had one person greet me and then walk away, never to return. The repair guy may be good at guitars but he's bad with people. The rest of the guys were so unhelpful. A woman came out of the back and actually helped me. Seems like everyone but her hates their jobs. read more

Wow. The store in Lincoln, NE: dishonest. Incredibly, the clerk at the register personally enters an order FOR me in HIS computer system for an item that HE SAYS is what I want: Yamaha keyboard/stand/pedal/manual. I re-verified verbally with him what I would get all components. He says 'yes' I re-verified this when picking up the order. Clerk says "YES", the package has "everything" "for example, the pedal" I get home, open it: no pedal, no music stand, no manual. I call Guitar Center, speak with clerks, INCLUDING the ones who handled the order They accept that I did NOT GET what I they said I was getting, and, now, they will NOT provide the full ordered set. They refused to provide what I bought Horrible. read more

Tonight again proves why I've spent a lot more money at Dietze than Guitar Center. I went in, granted, 15 minutes til closing and I was determined to purchase a PRS or Schecter. I was running around so I'd be out before 9. I asked a sales associate with face piercings if the PRS SE's were also on sale for guitar month. He didn't even look at me as he kept walking and said I don't think so. Then I went to try a near $900 new SE and I plug in and the amps don't have power. If the guitar was decent I was going to buy it. I joked asking if the amps were on a timer and one of the faceless salesman said " we're closed dude." There was still 5 minutes. I know they want to go home- fair enough but 2 sales associates are playing bass and drums not trying to make a sale. This is a business that runs on its customers disposable income. It's not things that we need. I go into Dietze no matter what time of day it's not uncommon for me to spend $5,000 to $6,000. So from now on the guitar center just one mile from me lost my disposable income. At least when Jamie was there it was a great place to shop but now he's in Omaha. Guys I know you have a new manager but tonight you completely embarrassed her by acting like children. I know for a fact if your manager had been there my experience probably would have been better. I mean- it is customers that keep the business open and you with a job. If you're not there to give the customer amazing service then quit. I'm sick of the horrible service I get whenever I walk into a business- and it's empty! There weren't any customers. But they were more worried about jamming and saying "we're closed dude" with 5 minutes till closing time. read more

I think the sales and lessons staff is absolutely phenomenal. They are very knowledgeable and since it is a smaller store, they personalize each customers experience. They let me have my space to look around, but are always double checking that I know everything I need to before purchasing a product. Although the floor staff is amazing, I will say, I haven't seen much of the new store manager. The few times I have, I've felt really pressured and spoken at, not to. I just wanted to get my gear and get out, not be asked to register for a million things at once. Some of these customers are brutal. I've witnessed these poor employees just trying to do their job get yelled at time and time again if someone's immediate needs aren't met! People, grow up and have some patience! With all that being said, props to the floor staff for still bringing a pleasant experience considering all the stuff yall go through. read more

We had an amazing experience at guitar center in Lincoln, NE. Our son worked hard detassling to earn the money to upgrade his guitar , amp, and invest in a switchboard/foot pedal. JB and Jamie were so friendly, helpful, and kind. They had a respect for our son for his hard work to get his musical gear!! I highly recommend this store and their customer service is top notch. They truly had our son's best interest at heart and allowed him to "test" out a variety of equipment, allowing him to make the decisions, and was amazed by him not needing the most expensive gear!! Decent selection but their prices are pretty steep for some of the quality. Sadly over the years the quality of staff has also decreased. You can hit the lottery on some days with a good staff member who knows something. I have bought a few guitars here but they have always been on special and I also use the military discount they offer as well! So overall not the best location I have been but decent. Staff is friendly but not as knowledgable as they should be. Selection is good but prices are steep. Be careful what you get when you buy used. Inspect first!!! read more

Wasn't sure how I would like going into a large music store because I'm a never ever. I want to learn how to play the Bass guitar. Kevin was the salesperson that I spoke with and he was great. He is very knowledgeable and knows that we all start at the beginning. After 10 minutes he was already showing me some basic things to work on. I called a few times with some dumb questions and a few days later went in to order the exact guitar I wanted. Jacob and the manager were there on that visit and I feel like they were very pleasant. They were also training a newer associate but forgot her name. Sorry. She's hilarious!! read more

I found that I needed time to get my emotions out of the way before writing this review, as I wanted to be as objective as possible. Some time ago I decided to look at 12-string Martin guitars at the Guitar Center, Lincoln, Nebraska. At the time, I owned A 6 string Martin 000m-15. It was a lovely mid- range guitar (set up beautifully) mint, in a gorgeous case which, itself was worth significantly over $200, perhaps much more; a deluxe Martin case. I was quite ignorant about the worth of these two items. My fault was that I simply assumed these folks would be honest. I was offered about 1/3 of the guitar's worth and told that my new 12 string Martin (cheapest they make) would not fit in the case but offered to provide one in exchange. What I received was a very cheap guitar case in exchange for the valuable case I brought in. When I left the store, I thought that I (in my ignorance) I had been treated fairly. I am a Senior citizen and made very costly and erroneous assumptions about the ethics in this store. My fault was in my naivety. I did seek feedback from friends 'in the know' that night and was heartbroken to find out how badly Guitar Center employees had taken advantage of my ignorance. As the store was closed, I went there the very next day (as is my right) to bring back the guitar and case they sold me and was told they had already sold my guitar and case. I do not believe this was true but had no recourse but to take the hit financially and mourn the loss of my Martin and deluxe Martin case. I continue to feel badly about this every time I think of the loss. If I could give zero or minus stars, I would do so. Ineptitude I can forgive, however I cannot allow this preying on people to go unaddressed. I can only suggest that this is not the business to expect honesty, especially if you (like me) are the least bit vulnerable. There are a number of guitar or other instrument stores that have wonderful reputations and honest employees. Please be wise and learn from my expensive and awful experience with Guitar Center. I haven't been here since they opened a store in Omaha, so my review is based on past purchases. I bought two Gibson electrics, a mini Marshall stack, a 1960B cabinet and a digital 24 track multitrack recorder. I always received great and friendly service. After leaving this Guitar Center, my streak continues of not leaving without buying something. Usually my wife will not let me go to Guitar Center for this reason, but she must have been in a good mood that day. I went in looking for a 5-string Banjo, but the variety of instruments here was very limited. They have Guitars and Drums mainly with a couple Basses, Ukuleles, Mandolins and a 6-string "Gitjo." I asked some questions after the guy said he could order one for me, and although he was very friendly, he must have been new because I could tell the answers were made up. Still, I ordered a Banjo and it arrived at my house 2 days later. Overall, I was happy with my experience but not so much with their selection in the store. read more

Go to Deitz Music instead!!!! Took guitar in to be restrung. Couldn't get anyone to help me. When went back to pick it up worker was smoking outside front of store, had to wait for him to finish before they got my guitar. While they were ringing up the bill I opened the case and NOTHING had been done to it and they had it two weeks. Left and went directly to Deitz Music where service people were top notch and professional. Will never step in Lincoln Guitar Center again!!! read more
