Acoustic and electric guitars, pianos, drums, and everything else. Great environment to sit and play for a while in a quiet setting. Highly recommend the knowledge staff and overall stellar store.

You can pick up and feel picks, unlike Guitar Center. Dietze is a better store all around and support local!

I'm kind of kicking myself for not having stopped by in like over a decade! Dietze is Omaha's premier music shop. Go here for all your school band needs. Buy or rent your strings, woodwinds, brass, etc. They'll likely have all the sheet music you'll need. Take your battered up horns here for repair as well. And what about guitars? Damn, this is the spot in Omaha! Maybe you'll have to go to Guitar Center to buy an overpriced Gibson, but if you need anything else guitar-related at all, Dietze has the big box retailer beat. Nice selection of guitars and basses for sale, from entry level to only-in-my-dreams kind of pricing. Plenty of cases for you gear to (and more variety than GC). The amp room has some great stuff, from practice amps to the latest Mesa/Boogie and just about everything in between (within reason). I was particularly blown away by the large selection of guitar parts for sales. They had tuning machines, pots, capacitors, etc., etc. No more Amazon for me--I can know just head to Dietze after I eff up one of my project guitars instead of waiting a few days to eff things up some more. Also a good spot for private lessons. Dietze kind of does it all, but does it all well. No wonder they'd out-lasted a lot of the other local music shops.

Knob on the left is noticeably crooked which prompted me to open it up.

Rich the repair tech will leave your guitar with a crooked tone knob and stripped screws so you can't check out the rewiring that you paid 85 bucks for. I do not recommend getting guitars fixed there. One pickup is half as quiet as the other one. I'm worse off then before I brought it to them.

They are always super helpful and they have tons of variety I just wish they had more stringed instruments here.

I intended to bring my violin to play for her, but realized, halfway to the airport, that I left it at home.

So many one-of-a-kind things here. The most beautiful ones are made here by John, the luthier/owner. He's happy to talk to you about instruments and to show you around his shop and the rest of the building - part of it is a vintage theater, the kind that used to be found in all parts of Omaha. Fascinating! Not long ago I stopped in to look at guitars. Mind you, I don't actually PLAY guitar, but I have gotten to a somewhat competent level at ukulele and baritone ukulele, and therefore I am craving the novelty of something new, that I can be bad at. I mentioned this to the woman working there, and she said "well, why don't you just take a class with John and he can teach you to build one"? Wow, this woman GETS ME. A total level up from what I was considering doing. I'm still thinking about doing this. But on this visit, I was just here to get a string, as moments earlier I had purchased a uke at a thrift store and it had a broken string. John had his assistant put on the string. He offered to show me how to put on the string, but since I already know (but just didn't have a string) I looked around the store and stroked a lovely cat on the counter. Which she enjoyed until she abruptly didn't, we know how cats are. Anyway, John wouldn't accept any money for the string or for the putting-on of the string. That was nice. Great place!

I've used the studios side of Guitar Center for a little band practice a few times. For about $15 an hour, you can rent a pretty decent rehearsal space. All you need to bring is your guitar, cables and whatever pedals you want to use. Amps, drum kit and microphones are provided. There are even fancy stage lights you can use if you want to pretend you're actually rocking out in front of a crowd. Funny, but seems appropriate for the Guitar Center crowd. For two hours it's $30. Split three ways, that's $10 a person, so not too bad! Gripes come in the form of the check in/check out process. There rarely seems to be an employee available to help when needed. The other guys and gals in there jamming can be interesting, too. Good people watching to say the least! Also, they make you sign a no drugs and alcohol waiver before you practice. I guess that's been a problem here?
