I have to agree with the many other one star reviews for this guitar center. I had the misfortune of having a young gentleman "assist" me in finding a guitar. I put assist in quotes because he did everything besides help me. Rather than helping me find a relatively affordable guitar for my son (he's 15 and does not need a "one of a kind" of anything when just starting music), this worker made fun of my "taste in guitars" and overall disrespected my overall knowledge of music. The worst experience I have ever had in a store with costumer service. The gentleman who helped, I believe his name was Luke, not only was rude and condescending, but gave out incorrect/faulty information regarding the guitar that I was trying to buy. I've been going to this Guitar Center since 2011 and seen a lot of changes. They used to have a decent variety of high end Martin and Gibson guitars, but on my last visit there were very few high end guitars. They did have a large selection of low to middle price fretted instruments but some were not in the best shape. According to the Guitar Center web site, they had variety of guitarlele's and Cordoba Mini II guitars in stock. When I went to the store, they had one guitarlele with a broken 6th string, and one Cordoba Mini II Bass with bad fret buzz on the 1st and 3rd strings. If you are looking for musical accessories, they do have a large stock. But the problem is that on my last few visits the store was severely understaffed. So if anything you want is locked, or requires staff assistance, it can be very difficult to get help. Even paying for your purchases can be problematic, since there was only one register open when I visited and the two staff members behind it seemed more interested in talking with each other than helping customers. I know that corporate Guitar Center has ongoing financial problems, but they need to invest some money back into their stores to make the shopping experience better for customers. read more

I ordered a Bass amp online for in-store pickup, and your store employees (Jordan, and a short straight-haired brunette woman that appeared to be the manager) acted like it was a bother to deal with me and give me the amp I had already paid for. First, Jordan said the order had to be "prepared" (after I drove 30 minutes across town to get there), and I'd get a new amp in the box, but I had to come back tomorrow. I insisted that the email said "available for pickup today", because that's what it said... along with the website, and honestly, how hard is it to bring a box out to me? Ridiculous... not to mention that I live 30 minutes away and gas is expensive. They ended up giving me the floor model (after the kid huffed and puffed and scowled walking around looking for a supervisor, and then huffed and puffed and scowled, while carelessly carrying the floor model amp back to the counter area, which he then unceremoniously sat down hard on the floor) because they then admitted it was the only one they had, which means they lied to me - but they claimed (including the "manager") that it was brand new when I inquired about a floor model discount, so I took it anyway, after they again insisted it was brand new "and the one they were going to ship to me" (What?! Make THAT make sense!). however when I got home I found a few blemishes on it from being the floor model. Completely unacceptable!!! If I'm told I'm buying something NEW, it's MY job to mess it up. Nobody else's. I also tried the headphone out and it's so quiet it's unusable, and I couldn't get the aux in to work at all. Never again! My money is spent where customers are appreciated, and the employees don't lie! Now I'm pissed off and won't deal with Guitar Center or Musician's Friend EVER again. read more

I was trying to sell a microphone here. The service started out very friendly. As she went to test it, she told me that it did not work. It worked the day prior. I was very confused and asked about the Phantom Power being on. Her boss or coworker also asked. She said yes, but it didn't work, so I went to my car and grabbed another USB cable. As I left, she became very upset and angry with me. My friend told me she was talking about not having time for this when she works there and this is what she is being paid to do. When I came back, she completely ignored me, so we left and sold the mic at the pawn shop without any trouble. I'm not one to write reviews, so take this into consideration when you go here. If you are to under staffed to provide all the services that you are supposed to offer a costumer then you should not be setting on you butt at the front door on your laptop computer. I drove 30 min just to be told I would not be provided service and to come back at 3pm when there would be more workers. I've noticed a few very negative reviews for this location, but that has not been my experience there at all. I started to play the guitar very recently and needed help purchasing a new one. I was greeted but Jordi who from the very first second helped me for at least 30 min. She helped me find a guitar that was budget friendly and talked to me about music and my aspirations. I've gone back to the store a few times after that, and I'm always greeted with a smile and willingness to help. If you go to the store, ask for Jordi, I know she'll provide the best costumer service. read more

It was an okay experience. The staff are friendly and really helped me find a good guitar to gift my grandson, he's starting a band. You do have of course watch out for being up sold. Which I understand they have to make money, but I don't have to spend it. While I certainly rue the day when Guitar Center has become Omaha's most viable and affordable option for guitars and related gear, I still love me a giant store stocked floor to ceiling with guitars. I have to admit every time I visit I want to bust out the credit card to drop $1000+ I don't have on a new guitar -- because apparently eight guitars is simply not enough for me. I have a problem, folks. Like all the other large music stores, be prepared to deal with employees who are disinterested in anything you might say or do. I could only image the horrors of having to listen to dudes who think they can play guitar riff around all day. Or, worse yet, dudes who can play a few slick blues licks try to show off. Hell, when I was there, there was this guy unabashedly making squeaks and squawks on a synthesizer for the duration of my visit -- a good 30 minutes. I wouldn't last a day working at a place like that. There are still a few local guitar shops left -- D-Rocks, Lidgett, Hargiss -- each with their own specialties and (omfg) quirks. At the end of the day, I'd much rather give them my hard earned cash. Still, I'll continue to visit Guitar Center for a pack of strings here and couple cables there. But that's it. At least I'll keep telling myself that because there's this beautiful Taylor acoustic there that's only like $600 and it played like a dream and I've been wanting a full bodied acoustic for like a 15 years now and the second I picked it up I fell in love with the world and I'm so weak. read more

They are very knowledgeable, even their drum guy knew enough about guitars to answer some questions and they were all more than willing to help out. I have played guitar for many years and have not once had a bad experience there. If you have a bad experience, it's probably because you're an A-hole to be honest. He asked me to forward my complaints to yourvoice@guitarcenter.com so they could follow up with the store's management team about my complaints. It's the same response they give to all of their negative Yelp/Facebook/Google reviews. I responded and thanked him for the canned response, and advised that the management team at the store was aware of how unhappy I was with this transaction, while the transaction was going on, and no one seemed to care or offer any sort of solution. If you haven't spent much time in a music store, you'll be in awe of this place when you walk in. Music instruments as far as the eye can see. That's where the magic ends. The sales people are disinterested and condescending. Anyone who looks like they have a day job will be presumed to be a "know nothing" parent shopping for their kid and charged accordingly. Since that first guitar I bought from them I've purchased one Rickenbacker, two Gibson's, and two Fenders, all from GC. Last year I had a amp rebuilt and it sounds amazing. The worst f***ing store ever. Walked in yesterday with my girlfriend and some open mouth employee stares at us walking in as we greet him with a hello. His response, keep staring, mouth open, and never acknowledges us at any point. How dare this company be complicit to behavior like this? I've been to other Guitar centers, mainly in Chicago and at least they give some form of response. But when you have two potential customers walk in and be stared down by an employee, you can't help but be uncomfortable and I welcomed, guitar center can suck my a**. Especially if the employees just seem to not care and continue to grasp onto the idea that they are better than the customers in. When in reality they are hack musicians who work this job to pay the bills(which I feel) but like damn at least try to care. Literally most GC experiences are similar but this one by far was the worse. I work retail, I work with people, I at least try to care and be polite. read more

FANTASTIC Place. My 7yr old takes guitar lessons once a week with Steve, Great instructor, great work kids. Bought a new guitar 4 my lil one for a great price. Had to cancel a few times cause of weather and they made a diff date for her to come in. The staff is great and my lil loves going there cause the whole staff makes her feel like a rock star! Was looking to purchase a boutique bass amp brand that they carry. Not a small purchase. Wanted to know what models they had in stock as I wanted to purchase the amp today for a show tonight. Called and the person that answered asked which department he could direct my call to. I said amps and he said - that's me. I asked which models of this particular brand that they had in stock. He said "that's in bass amps and they're all the way over there." Asked if I was local and if I could come in and check it out for myself. I've been to that location many times and have spent thousands of dollars there. I know that from the phone to the bass amps "all the way over there" is a whopping 15-20 steps. 25 if you're an Oompa Loompa. In mid-April, S&P Global Ratings lowered Guitar Center's corporate credit rating to selective default. If you are looking to pull yourselves out of the potential dustbin of obscurity and compete with online retailers, this is not how you do it. read more

I tried to trade in some old gear, but waited 2 hours for prices and finally gave up. No answer. The sales people told me they were busy and to be patient. Regardless the guitars I wanted to try were not in stock even though the internet said they were. I had cash in my pocket but could not spend it here. Went to another store and left with the guitar I wanted and a fair deal on my trade in gear after a half hour. I'm so glad I went some where else later that day. Truth about GC Omaha is that they are a complex group of personalities that are highly skilled and love music more than oxygen trying to do what they love for a living... in a supermarket of music gear dealing with uneducated people like me who loves how each thing I touched sounded. I work in a different creative world and I wonder how easily I could show someone around in what I do... I would probably be a short fuse and longing for people who knew what it meant to switch on each light before every production. They love the toys and hope to ignite something in people... and they do a damn good job of it... for as long as I can ignore my real world. In the .com beyond wall super shopping complex of "price first" and mass purchases... they are musicians first and tour guides to keep them touching heaven every day and not giving up what they want to be surrounded by. So remember to listen differently - hear what people who live and love it are saying about each thing and what makes it different than the one next to it... and be glad they aren't drones void of personality. read more
