I'm a professional guitar player around the Phoenix area- I constantly buy and sell high end guitars and have been to many of the nicest guitars shops in the world. I've toured the Country going to guitar shops. If I'm not allowed to pick up a guitar- Say even a cheap mid-line workhouse style guitar like a red Epiphone Firebird; Then it should be excplitly explained by staff upon greeting customers at he door. If your business model is to turn away customers that you don't think will buy a real guitar, then just politely ask. It's not that difficult, and as a professional customer I would clearly understand. I have never seen an establishment so good at making customers feel unwanted and uncomfortable- Ever. Not to mention I did walk in with a very healthy budget in mind, and was seriously considering a new guitar that I could use.

Love this place - the work they did on my Bass was nothing short of a miracle…read more The owner is kinda sorta weird in an eccentric way and his wife gets nervous when entering the shop but the work they do rebuilding wood instruments is top notch. I personally know musicians in other states a that will ship their prized possession here just to get it repaired and tuned. Don't expect immediate turn around; good work takes time but the rewards of getting it done right the first time will pay dividends for years to come.

Eily let me try literally every shoulder rest in the store! She was so patient, listened to me, looked at what was going on, and helped me get setup with a shoulder rest that allowed me to play in comfort and without pain!! I was shocked at how much focused attention I received. Truly caring and wonderful people!! I came back to buy a vintage violin and again they were very patient, letting me try every violin until I found the one that best suited me. I didn't quite like the sound, so they recommended strings that would best suit my instrument and now it sounds perfect! Clark, the luthier is so talented too. I've had him do a rehair and a few things on my violin and couldn't be happier with the results! I could not recommend Valley Violin enough!!!

The store is packed with any genre of sheet music and books (and TAB form) for every instrument you can imagine (banjo, dulcimer, mandolin, vocals, guitar, piano, brass instruments, woodwinds, etc all of them). They sell accessories such as guitar strings, tuners, straps, picks, music stands, and some acoustic guitars and banjos as well. Vinyl records and small musical gifts line the walls, it's so fun to explore and each time you visit you'll find something new, as there's so much selection. If there is something they don't have in stock, they will order it for you. The vibe is very relaxed and they are never pushy, you can look around for 30 min alone exploring if you want and just ask if you need anything. Love this place and can't recommend it enough, it's also a vintage store with history dating back to the 1950's so it has such cute charm and decor, it's an experience that online shopping can't give. We had three choices and price points, and I selected the "student" one which was the least expensive, and wow, this instrument sounds so much better and is in great shape! We were in and out of the shop in 20 minutes. The salesperson helping us was knowledgeable and friendly and we were able to find the accessories we needed as well (shoulder rest sponge and rosin). She's been playing it for 3 months with no issues and it doesn't go out of tune quickly like her cheap one. Billing is automatic and easy, with no mistakes. Such a great experience - we'll definitely be back when it's time to upgrade to the next one!

If you rent a violin it comes with rosin, shoulder rest and a shoulder strap to carry the violin case. If you know you want to have an instrument for years then buying it is the best option but if you're not sure then renting is the way to go, as well as rent to own. Their lobby area has a couch and a couple chairs. It can feel a bit cozy when there are many people. It seems like a popular place towards closing time on Saturday. Staff were friendly.

The price is very reasonable and they have two options where you can just rent or pay the portion of rental towards purchase. The customer service is really good and they measure the size in house for which an appointment can be made online.
