I had a quick and seamless experience at the Avondale Guitar Center! As soon as I walked in and asked for help locating a specific item, Tristan immediately stopped what he was doing, came around the counter, and personally led me to the DJ section in the back. He didn't hesitate to grab a ladder and pull the item for me. What stood out most was the trust he showed, he allowed me to carry the item to the front myself, even though it was a higher-priced product which other businesses frown upon. The entire visit, from walking in to checking out took no more than 10 minutes, literally! Tristan was also very patient while helping me set up an account and clearly explained the warranty options without being pushy. His attitude and customer service were truly excellent. I actually returned about an hour later, just minutes before closing, and was helped by another associate, Andrew. Once again, I was greeted right away and asked how he could assist me. Andrew was calm, kind, and understanding, and he quickly helped me process an exchange without any issues. He handled everything efficiently and made the process stress-free. I honestly didn't expect to need to visit a Guitar Center, but this experience completely exceeded my expectations. In August I bought a Martin 000c Jr-10 model acoustic electric guitar for about $750. This was not my first Martin and I really like their guitars. After about 2 months I noticed the high E string was becoming muted when I played so, I took it back and their technician adjusted the truss rod fixing the problem. I took it home and 2 weeks later it happened again so I took it back and the tech adjusted the truss rod again. In speaking with the tech he said he had never seen a Martin have this problem before. The adjustment fixed the problem so I took the guitar home. Two weeks later it happened again. I took it back to the Guitar Center and spoke with a sales person and told him the guitar clearly has a structural problem and I would like it fixed. He said he could send it to Mesa, Az and they would give me a "quote" for repair cost. I told him the problem has been happening since Oct (and he acknowledged that their tech has worked on it before) and asked why I should have to pay for repair when I just bought it. He said it was past the "45 day warranty period" that the Guitar Center gives. I asked to speak with the manager which I did. He was pretty much dismissive of my issue and said I should have purchased a "Pro" warranty when I bought it. I told him I was not offered a "Pro" warranty when I purchased the guitar and didn't even know about, which is true. He told me Martin had a 1 year warranty and I should contact them, it wasn't his issue. I told him that he had sold me an $750 worthless guitar and his response was too bad, it's out of warranty. My advice to anyone interested in purchasing an instrument from The Guitar Center is too take your business elsewhere. To my mind this was a legitimate case of The Guitar Center selling a defective product and then refusing to take responsibility for it. read more

This location has impressed me. Adam, the manager, really strives to get people taken care of. Sam was great today and did his due diligence on anything I needed information on. I feel like my business is appreciated here and I don't see a reason for me to go to another location. If I could give them zero stars I would. I went in to buy a bass guitar for my son for Xmas and the one he wanted was all dirty. It'd be nice if the guitars were cleaned once in awhile. The salesperson was very arrogant and rude. Argued with another employee about the bass all the while yelling at the manager "we have a disconnect" repeatedly. So the salesperson picks out a case for the bass for me and I am busy getting my payment together so didn't see when he zipped up the case. Get home, locked my bedroom door so son does not walk in and see his gift. Unzip the case and what I thought was a dust cloth in the case for the bass when I pick it up comes to find out it's a pair of women's panties with skid marks in them which i lifted up with a Kleenex and disposed of. This location we have frequented the most since we have been living on the west side for the past 18 years. Everyone has been super helpful over the phone and in person. They have a pretty good inventory and are super helpful with orders as well. It is super nice having a brick and mortar store to see things in person to see, hear and feel the gear in person. My husband is going through his wood grain guitar phase right now. He has many guitars he chose because of sound and design. My favorite he plays is a Taylor Grand Auditorium....Sweet!!! so my parents went In to buy me a guitar for my b day and got a john petrucci jp25 ! there was oen dude from Hawaii there that helped big time and will ride or die with him! the tremolo bar is definitely off on it and asked the Manager if there was anything I could do with them to get there guitar up to par and he said that guitars just don't stay in tune ! the dude that works in the shop said the same and didn't help ! wouel think if u bought a guitar with insurance frim guitar center that that would make sure the guest was sounding perfect for 4 thousand plus but no! Visited this store in hopes of picking up another guitar. We walked right past the manager and a couple other sales associates. We were not asked if we needed any assistance so we proceed to help ourselves After about 15 mins I asked if someone assist us Manager says he will have someone come over in a few mins. NO ONE CAME!!! We continued to help ourselves for about an hour. I took my mask off to scratch an itch on my nose and shortly after a sales associate decides to jump my ass to "put my mask on". It was very clear in the lack of empathy or concern your manager displayed when I attempted to make a return. By the way I have spent over $1,000.00. In the past 30 days in your stores. (Not that you care)...I asked one of your employees inquiring about another employee because he was helpful and polite. He stated "my answer is the same as It is from the last time you asked me he's not here". What kind of answer is that???!! I was just asking a question!...I was in the store picking up a microphone I had delivered. your tracking info online stated that it had been delivered. When I asked for the package they said it had not yet been received and so they had trouble finding it with my provided phone number. Good thing I requested a paper copy of my receipt upon purchase!...One of the guys from the "good old boys club" (including the unprofessional manager) finally disappeared after they were all standing in a huddle. And Finally someone from the group went to get my item at least that's what I assumed. I was also there for a return, no other employees even attempted to help me exchange or look for a replacement. Poor customer service, no attention to customers inquiry, no interest in rapport for the sake of future sales, no up selling and obviously no concern for repeat business! Not with those kind of attitudes towards paying customers! I was a manager at the business next door to this establishment, I will make sure to spread the word to all staff, and students not to ever shop here!! Especially if your race is Black!! I have shopped here for over 25 years originally being from Southern California I remember the cool days of the Guitar Center on Sunset Blvd when my friends use to work there and we would all meet up after work and go to the Whiskey Club/Bar and chill out no color lines. I've taken piano lessons for 8 months with Guitar Center in Avondale. I decided to cancel my lessons with GC and do in home lessons. I was told from the lessons person that I have 5 lessons that have been paid for and unless I use them I would loose them. 3 of the lesson are for the rest of August, 2022. I'm writing this on August 4, 2022. That's a hell of a business practice they have. If your thinking of taking lessons from GC in Avondale and you decide to cancel before the month is over you will not get reimbursed for the remaining lessons. I was going to upgrade my current keyboard from GC. It will be a cold day in hell before I walk through their door again. I would like to say that my instructor, Jacob, was an excellent instructor. I have gone to guitar center two times since the COVID-19 quarantine began. They have instituted very safe measures in order to keep everyone healthy. You must wear a mask to go into the store. They have a line outside the door with marked places for you to stand. The employees come out and greet you, ask you what you are looking for, and walk you into the store. They take you right where you need to go to get your merchandise. It has been always quick to find what I need. So even though it looks like there may be a line I have found that it does not take me long to get in the store and out with my purchases. My husband has sent me to grab some musical equipment on two separate occasions. Both of the sales clerks were very helpful and directed me right where I need to go. Today Molly was exceptionally helpful when I was in a hurry to buy something for our church. read more

Guitar center is a horrible place to shop for your music needs. Much better to shop at a local spotty. But it's a fantastic place to let your kids play every insturment in the store until they are pooped beyond imagination. Coming from a musical family, my son and I can spend hours and hours going from room to room and playing every set of drums, guitar, keyboard and so on and so forth. It's a good place to play instruments and has instruments that you want to look at and have what I want to buy.

I am a beginner, purchased my first new Fender FA235-E Acoustic Guitar. I was struggling to play for several months, thought it was me. Did some research, read that installing thinner strings may help until my fingers get used to playing. I found two of the adjusters do not operate properly, the guitar looses adjust frequently and that is why I have been struggling to play. I went to the store in Avondale, upon entry I was directed to the repair center. I explained that I just purchased the instrument four months back and found two of the tuners do not adjust correctly, and the guys first words, "do you care if they match, not sure if I have the same ones". I said again, "it's brand new, so yes I want it to match, it's still under warranty" The counterman asked if I purchased Guitar Centers extended warranty. I said no, but he double checked for me. Of course I didn't, so I was told to contact fender directly. I was dismissed since I did purchase their warranty. He did however find a web site that will sell me replacement tuners, so thanks for that. This is my first review ever, very disappointed! read more

The Guitar Center is a fun place to go to as it is full of musical stuff. I am not that familiar with how guitar sales and service go or what the protocol is when you purchase something, so maybe I am out of line. After purchasing a electric bass guitar, I found out that what you get when you receive the guitar is not all there is. You have to pay another fee to have the guitar "set up" and this is where the buyer makes a few bucks. Seems to me this is like purchasing a new car, then you have to pay extra to have it tuned up. So, maybe I have learned something, but not sure if I like what I have learned. read more

Not sure if this location is going through some sort of remodel or revamp but I was very disappointed in my most recent visits. They seem very light on inventory and very disorganized. I spent a solid 10mins in pro audio waiting for anybody to even show up in the area. Overall they do typically have what I need and when you do finally get some service it is usually ok. I usually go here to buy guitar strings but my last two experiences when purchasing something other than guitar strings were pretty bad. One of those experiences was when I purchased a guitar pedal. They weren't sure if they had one in stock and the guy helping me initially offered me the one out of the display case then he said they might have a new one in the back. So he asked co-worker to check in the back and after 15 minutes she came back with one in the box. I thought it was odd since it was in a box for a different model of the same type of pedal but the guy that was helping me opened the box and it was and the correct pedal was in it. So I paid full retail for it ($150) and went home. When I got home I realized it was a blemished petal with scratches all over the bottom and the knobs. I returned it and got my money back, but that was an extremely shade retail experience. They sold me an used product as if it was new and charged me full price. It was as if she was looking through a box or shelf of pedals, found that one that I was looking for, then looked for a box that "kind of" matches based on how long it took her to "find it". This was a few weeks ago. The most recent was last week. I went to buy a new strap for my guitar since the old one was worn out and slipping off the strap buttons. Along with this, I also purchased strap locks so that I never need to worry about that again. Turns out someone swapped the buttons in the package with regular strap buttons. I drove back and they helped me get the correct buttons. While this may or may not be the fault of the employees, it still sucked but at least i know what to look for in the package when I purchase more. Overall, I sense a general lack of motivation from the staff at this location that I don't get at their other locations (Phoenix, Mesa) and their in-store inventory is very lacking in terms of amps, pedals, and variety of higher end guitars. I have been to this location many times up until a few years ago and it was a lot better then. I recommend their Phoenix and Mesa locations, both of which I have been to in the past month, if you are interested in shopping at Guitar Center. read more

However, their inventory has been embarrassingly slim pickings lately; empty shelves everywhere you look. This place is a wasteland and ownership would be wise to close up shop and let a capable store like Sam Ash take over. This location lacks customer service. Its close to my house so I use this location. But not sure if I will any longer. I went into the store on a Thursday to purchase 2 15 jbl tops and 2 JbL 18" subwoofers powered along with a 2 space rack case. I was at the location for about 45min and I could not get anyone in the pro audio dj area to help me. I ended up using the ladder they had to get a rack bag off the top shelf. Three of them were damage I did find one good one. But still no help to purchase the speakers I went in for. So I decided to just take my cash else where. I just wanted to give you all a heads up. I was close to purchase a guitar and a case. All i ask was to give me any discount as I am always getting emails from guitar center giving me huge discounts just to buy from them again. They could not do it. I understood so I just bought another item. I saw my address was an old address so I volunteered to correct them. The clerk just shrugged and told me "it doesn't matter". This is twice now that I've had a poor experience with this store. I would avoid it at ALL costs as there are other Guitar Centers in the Phoenix area. Here's a breakdown of the two incidents: Incident #1: Attempted to buy vocalist throat spray, which was listed on their website as a product they offered. Called down to the store, was assured that they carried the type that I requested and drove the 65 miles to this store. Upon arrival they DID NOT have the type that I had wanted and subsequently, I had to "settle" for a different off-brand. Incident #2: Attempted to buy TC Helicon VoiceTone Single D1 Doubling & Detune Regular, which also was listed on their website as a product they offered. Called to the store, was told that they did indeed carry this pedal and I drove 65 miles to the store. When I came to the store and asked an employee if they carried the above mentioned product, he looked at me with a dumbfounded look on his face and said, "huh?" I explained to him that this was a vocalist pedal, used to add effects to live shows. He required assistance from another employee and returned ~10 minutes later... with the wrong model. This model was not only the wrong size, the wrong color, the wrong product altogether, but was also $200+ more expensive. I explained to said employee that this was the wrong item, while another GC employee looked on in mild amusement. **note, this other employee appeared to be a supervisor and walked away ~5 min later without assisting the employee** This GC employee had issues pulling up my membership information and INSISTED on creating a new account. After giving him all of the information again, he conceeded that I was already in the system. Asked to have the item shipped ASAP to the GC store. He stated that it would be there by Tuesday (this was Sunday). Returned to GC on Tuesday night, item had not arrived (surprise, surprise). Called customer service, they said it probably wouldn't arrive for another 3 days at best. To sum up, this business is RIDDLED with highschool employees who are not well versed in any aspect of music or instruments, they are sluggish and slow to assist and do not go out of their way to ensure the customers are happy. This is not characteristic of other GC stores I have been to and luckily, their customer service more than makes up for the errors and frustration this store causes their customers. Shame on GC for allowing this to continue. read more

I came here with my husband today and I am incredibly disappointed in the customer service, general knowledge, and just overall experience. From the moment we walked in we both agree that we felt as if we were basically bothering the employees by being there and after walking around for a couple minutes my husband had a couple questions about his guitar and was hoping for some recommendations on new strings and the employee that treated us as if he was being disturbed/interrupted ended up pulling out his phone and trying to look up a recommendation for guitar strings because he clearly had zero knowledge of guitar strings whatsoever. Overall the entire experience was just so ridiculous that we have decided that we will not be going back to this store and we truly do not recommend that anyone else does if you are looking for the knowledgeable, friendly employees that we used to have help us when we went in. This is a place we used to depend on for information and we used to really look forward to coming here and it's unfortunate that this is just mo longer what it used to be. read more

During my visit today, I was very impressed with the precautions that the employees all made to ensure social distancing was maintained. They all made sure their masks were on properly. I was given the opportunity to see everything I needed to see and was helped to make the right selection of music software that I needed. The staff were all very polite and knowledgeable.
