Unexpected Lunch Stop - Worth It!…read more I wasn't planning on eating here yesterday, but with the holiday, a few of my favorite spots were closed. Since I was in the neighborhood and short on time, I decided to stop in for a quick lunch--and I'm glad I did! The service was fast and efficient. The food is served hot, and you simply pick what you want, making the whole process super convenient. They give you a generous portion for a great price, and if you're dining in, the staff even brings your food right to the table, which was a nice touch. Whether you're looking for a quick takeout option or a sit-down meal, this spot is a solid choice for delicious Dominican food. Fast, filling, and flavorful--definitely worth a stop! Everything was clean and staff was friendly.

The beef and cheese and chicken and cheese are the best flavors. Their pernil is always cooked well, too. I like mine as crispy as possible with a crunch. Pairing a meat with rice for their lunch special is probably your best bet, cost wise. Service is quick! While I'll typically do takeout, there are a few tables inside and friendly service. Great neighborhood spot.

In New York, we would call this a hole in the wall. Very tiny space off the street. Counterspace…read moreand four large, basic wooden tables. You can do takeout or dine-in, but even when dining in, you look at a menu, pay at the counter, and then it eventually comes to your table. I was lucky enough to come in when there was only one table and some takeout customers. As I left, several more people came in, so this place can become crowded. Aurora's is Guatemalan. They have a lot of brekkie stuff--huevos rancheros, omelettes with veggies, sausage, peppers, ham, sausage, etc. Breakfast sandwiches (BEC, beans, queso, ham, turkey, avocado, cheeses). Burritos (chorizo, loaded, veggies). Appetizers, like tacos, nachos, tostadas, and more. Sandwiches (burgers, steak sandwiches). Bowls and salads (house green, classic caesar, burrito bowl). Quesadillas and wraps (turkey avocado, buffalo chicken, churrascov, burrito, chicken bacon ranch). I had the Churrasco. It had a lot of fat, but it was more steak than fat, and the fat came off easily. The meat was tender and fall apart. I ordered the fries, but got rice, and that was okay. The black beans were great. The salad was a little palate cleanser. The thing I LOVED, ADORED, would help me ignore the fact the restaurant was so cold that I had to keep my coat on and shivered throughout my stay--the drinks. They have these great fruit drinks--grilled pineapple lemonade (my choice), homemade horchata, fresh melon juice, watermelon juice, etc. My choice, the grilled pineapple lemonade--I literally sucked that stuff down. It was fresh, refreshing, not too sweet, but just sweet enough. Let's go back to my elder millennial roots--"It's all that and a bag of chips." Would come here again, food, drinks, and service are great, but turn up the heat please!

I ordered from Aurora's via DoorDash and had a great experience overall. The carne asada Guatemalan…read moresandwich (Shuco) was hearty and flavorful -- the grilled steak was juicy, tender, and well-seasoned. The sandwich had that street food-style flavor I was craving, and the bread was soft but held everything together nicely. The sweet plantains were tasty and ripe, but a little on the greasy side for my liking. The watermelon juice was fresh, light, and refreshing -- not overly sweet, which I appreciated. Even though I didn't dine in, I've passed by the spot and it always smells amazing and has a warm, welcoming vibe. My order was neatly packed, and everything arrived intact, which shows care and attention to detail on their end. That kind of service goes a long way, even through delivery! Can't wait to stop by in person soon -- if the food tastes this good through DoorDash, I can only imagine how much better it is fresh off the grill.

I enjoyed the dish, and the takeout experience was pleasant but I did take a star off because there were no utensils in my bag even though I made that request when I called. I was picking up from an outdoor event and had to go back to grab some which was a bit annoying. I thought the taste of the dish was great. The steak was tender and I like my sauce on the sweeter side so I was happy. The rice wasn't nauseatingly fluffy which I was wearing of because I've been having that issue with a lot of places recently. I'd order takeout again but would just be mindful to check for everything before leaving.

We ordered a bunch of food and it didn't take too long to come out, we had multiple rounds of drinks and the pacing on refills was also good. The main problem was the food. Most of the food was ok. I ordered lomo saltado a lo pobre and my husband ordered chupe de camarones. My dish was pretty good. The steak and eggs were over cooked unfortunately but again the meal was fine. My husband's chupe however was really not good. The shrimp was very overcooked, the broth was bland and oily and thin. He ate his egg and left the rest alone. All the dishes were pretty expensive so we asked to have our soup comped but we were told we could not because the waitress asked twice is everything was OK and my husband didn't say anything til the end (although I feel that if someone isn't touching their food it's usually a sign). Feels like a strange rule but i did honestly deduct 1 star because of this. The menu is large and expensive, so it does feel like a gamble if something is that bad but we still cant get 1 in 7 entrees comped. We are a peruvian family (6 adults) and we all felt similarly.
