Everything hit the spot as expected, but the highlight of my visit was definitely that berry lemonade! It had the perfect sweet to sour ratio and it looked very whimsical with its purple hue. I'll definitely be back to order that again and maybe I'll have better luck next time with the availability of the limited edition pastries. It wasn't as busy as it typically gets so took advantage of the opportunity and I dined in. During my visit I adored the Kuromi decor around the story. It was definitely picture worthy. They also have the cutest merch available for sale and of course I bought a sticker sheet to add to my sticker collection. The workers also wore pretty purple Kuromi hats and aprons, which is also included in their merch for sale fyi. The person I spoke with did not let me finish explaining and insisted, "That could never happen." She also asked why I was saying that and told me to bring the mochi back. I had gone out of my way to visit early that morning, so being told to make another trip was frustrating. The phone conversation left me more upset than the mochi itself. This was my second visit. 1. No one answers the phone to place an order 2. The ladies that work there need customer service training 3. No hot tamales 4. 40 min wait for hot tamales 5. Manager also needs training 6. If you ask for a manager, now you're really not getting your tamales I frequent this place with my family and usually have my dad order while we sit and wait because he gets better service. Today, I sent my co-worker there to introduce my office to authentic Guatemalan tamales from the Van Nuys location. She was received with disrespectful service and left without purchasing anything because they would not sell her the last 5 warm tamales that they originally told her, were available. She asked me to write this review because hers would have been a little more graphic. As for the very long line of loyal customers that are willing to wait for mediocre service, I don't think they deserve this. Our BEAUTIFUL Guatemala is known for hospitable, hard working and genuinely friendly people and we should always reflect that to those we interact with. Even though the "panaderia" part of this place is marketed more heavily (I mean, it's in the name), they actually do a lot better on the savory front.
