I had been told that it would take a week at most for it to arrive, but alright, no big deal. Later, when I pick up my laptop, it turns out that during the repair process the NEW screen had somehow gotten cracked (a minor crack, but noticeable) due to an employee error. This was freely admitted. Fortunately, they were willing to replace the brand new screen free of charge, I just had to wait another week. Well, it has now been 2 months, and I have not heard back from this place. Overall, I am pretty disappointed, although my initial problem was indeed fixed.

Another time I went to get a pair of Beats Solo3's fixed (over ear headphones) and they warned me before hand that there's a chance that the process would cause them to no longer work after the repair. But they said if that happens, they'll replace them with an equally used pair at no extra cost. Sadly, they didn't work after the repair, and just a few days later they called back and said that the new pair came in and I could go pick it up. The new, used pair they gave me looked great, it was in almost perfect condition. That was at least two years ago and the headphone still work perfectly. Overall, iMechanic is an amazing place, and they repair almost all electronics if I remember correctly. Not just iPhones.

Then I found File Savers. Is it expensive? Yes. Is it worth it? For sure. They dissected the drive and retrieved my past. The communication was constant and the process was fast. The heads had failed in the drive and had likely cause damage to the disk. This company works out of western Montana and only uses locations in different states that serve as drop-off locations and shipping points. The drop off location here is just a business center above Marsh, who have nothing to do with File Savers. The receptionist wasn't even going to give me a copy of the shipping label or any type of official receipt or document. I just ended up asking for her name and signature with the date on a scanned agreement for File Savers. The company has told me since the original post that they are going to provide more concrete drop-off receipts in the future. Throughout the entire process, File Savers representatives were very professional and were in constant communication. I received regular phone calls and emails tracking every step. They do an analysis of your equipment upon arrival, and give you the quote before doing any work to have the option to proceed or not. There are 3 quote tiers with price ranges that are representative of the speediness of the recovery. Inside the slowest tier's range, my quote was at the high end at $1100. I was hesitant and they offered to put it behind all of the other work they have for a reduced price of $920. They ended up recovering ~83% of my data after a "catastrophic failure" and they re-imaged it to a new hard drive that I had purchased and mailed to their location in MT. I was thankful for the critical data they managed to recover. I was skeptical of their legitimacy because there is really very little concrete information on their website or communications. I requested their tax information and proof of insurance, and after a heated discussion, the File Savers rep reluctantly provided them. After some personal PI work, I verified that their insurance was up to date, but the MT Secretary of State office reported that they had been involuntarily resolved for failure to file for certification by the state. All in all, the company is legit, they do satisfactory work, and they are very customer friendly. Their quotes are expensive, but the company justifies their prices in accordance to their advanced facilities, experience, and range of services. Although, it is always best for you to do your research and evaluate your options for the best price for work. Best of Luck.

Linked down blow is a video of Marvin telling me to go "f myself" after just calling to ask for an estimate of my personal device he had in his care. This man is an absolute Fraud and is likely to break what he touches!!!! Update: It unfortunately will not allow me to attach videos of phone call but I can assure that If anyone would like to see how Marvin speaks to his clients I'd be happy to email the video! Just ask and I'll send my email along side the video for proof. Marvin tries very hard to intimidate people who are just in need of his services by threatening to add charges to their totals for no reason especially when he never fixes the problem and only adds to the issues! Also calling them very vulgar names! If you want my honest opinion you have better luck just trying to repair your device on your own or taking it to another shop as Marvin is the worst for customer service and to provide you with help!
