They almost always responded to my questions immediately, which is incredibly rare and gave me great confidence throughout the entire process. I also appreciated their honesty and integrity. They gave me a realistic assessment of the merits of my case instead of simply telling me what I wanted to hear or taking the case just for profit. Their advice was thoughtful, transparent, and always in my best interest. Despite taking on my case at very short notice, they handled everything professionally and did an excellent job. The entire team worked seamlessly together and made what could have been a very stressful situation much easier. A special thank you to Ian, Tommy, Cynthia, and Mark. From the legal assistants to the paralegal and attorneys, everyone was knowledgeable, responsive, compassionate, and genuinely committed to helping. Their teamwork and dedication exceeded my expectations. If you're looking for a law firm that is responsive, honest, and truly cares about its clients, I would not hesitate to recommend this team.

I went a different route and paid a forensic handwriting specialist to verify that the evidence that was used against me was indeed written by the petitioner and not the person she had claimed, and it cost a whole heck of a lot less money. Also, when speaking with another attorney, who I was able to get a free full hour consultation from, the Snohomish county sheriff and the Snohomish Superior court clerks, they all confirmed that falsified evidence is indeed a substantial change in circumstance to modify or squash an order...

David Marshall and his team are an exceptionally skilled, as well as an extraordinarily meticulous and effective defense group. Mr. Marshall provided detailed explanations to my questions and communicated consistently and timely. As part of his extensive depositions, Mr. Marshall was able to uncover multiple lies, RCW and WAC violations, and reveal repeated failures of Skagit County DCYF caseworkers. He was even able to obtain caseworker personnel files showing repeated incidences of egregious conduct by, and disciplinary actions taken against, these same caseworkers. In an ingenious approach, he prepared a Motion for Summary Judgment. At the corresponding hearing, DCYF refused to even speak and state its position, which not only shocked the Administrative Law Judge, but resulted in a favorable written order for me within three hours. The judge determined DCYF had no legal justification for its decision and required a reversal. Mr. Marshall also advised several other attorneys who were handling related cases in Skagit County Superior Court. All of these attorneys took the advice of Mr. Marshall and his legal research team, resulting in unanimously favorable decisions for my child and me. This ordeal began in April 2018, when I called the Mount Vernon Police Department desperate for assistance after my Haitian citizen stepdaughter told me her father was sexually abusing her when I would leave the home. Instead of providing assistance or even investigating my now ex-husband, DCYF decided to relentlessly go after me - the non-offending parent - and act clearly against the best interest of the child and recommendations of the guardian ad litem and child's court appointed attorney, putting the child's immigration status in America at-risk. However, thanks to Mr. Marshall and his team, I became one of Washington's first legal de facto parents under the latest Uniform Parentage Act, RCW 26.26A.440. I now have sole custody of my child and am unfounded from DCYF's attempt to find me for neglect. Thank you so very much Mr. Marshall for your conscientiousness, focus on details, perseverance, and genuine concern for justice.

The Marshall Defense Firm saved my life. You think I'm exaggerating? Read on…read more In 2012 I was wrongfully convicted and sentenced to 28 years to life. But today I'm a free man, thanks to the work of David Marshall and his team. I knew the chance of getting my conviction overturned was tiny, but the Marshall Defense Firm did it. And it's not just that they did great legal work. They also showed me their big hearts over and over again. They always treated me--and my suffering family--with compassion and respect. David was honest with me, too. The times when he had bad news for me, he gave it to me straight. My first attorney failed me terribly. He wasn't willing to do the work that needed to be done. The Marshall Defense Firm, though, was relentless in finding expert witnesses and doing the other work necessary to win. The passion they put into representing me was amazing. For compassionate counsel and fierce advocacy, turn to the Marshall Defense Firm. My life is a testament to their power.

I was not upset that he couldn't take my case. I work in the legal field and understand how the process works. I learned additional information and asked Jason if that was under his scope of practice, and was not looking for additional legal advice or any advice, just asking if he could take on my case. Again, my issue is not that he couldn't take on my case, my issue is that I felt he came off demeaning and how I was treated. I will not be reaching out again for any reason.

I am thoroughly disgusted with Attorney Chi Nguyen's lack of professionalism and communication…read more I found her through Yelp in July 2025 with glowing reviews. After a July 4th consultation, I hired her to handle my parenting plan matter (not my protection order, though she gave advice on that too). What followed was one of the worst professional experiences I've ever had. Here are the main issues: Never in court - She never once appeared in person, only via Zoom. We paid her the same as anyone else, yet she didn't show up physically. Unprofessional appearance - On Zoom, she dressed in casual T-shirts, not courtroom-appropriate attire. Paralegal overseas - The paralegal assigned to our case (Bernard) was working permanently out of the country. This made direct communication about our case nearly impossible. Bad legal advice & dishonesty - She advised my child to drop a protection order to "help" with a 50/50 parenting plan, then denied ever giving that advice in court. This damaged our case. Unprepared in court - Judges were visibly frustrated with her lack of preparation and awareness of required next steps. Communication failures - She ignored the client portal (where we receive notifications) and instead sent critical updates by regular email, which caused us to miss deadlines and hearings. Documents were submitted incorrectly and late, resulting in continuances, sanctions, and extra costs we had to pay ($700). Recent failure - For a GAL hearing, financial documents we sent in late August were submitted at the last minute. She failed to consult us on which GAL we preferred, leaving us blindsided in court. We left court feeling defeated every single time. Yesterday's hearing was the final straw--we fired her immediately. Hiring an attorney is stressful enough; you need someone professional, prepared, and communicative. Chi Nguyen was none of these. Do not hire her. I only gave 1 star because Yelp wouldn't let me submit my review without doing it.

One day the DOL sends me a notice that my drivers license has been suspended because of failure to notice the court of my options. Mind you, this is something that is completely done by the lawyer. I message Chi, and she started to blame the court about how ridiculous they were, but in reality she should've kept status on my case. It's clear Chi treats each case as a $$ bag and doesn't care to check up on the status of her clients cases. As a result, this lead my insurance going up because Chi was unable to keep up with my case. Why would I go to a lawyer just to have my insurance go up....... and having to deal with that.???
