Let me preface this by saying that I don't really trust most contractors, it takes some work to win…read moreme over. A year ago, Paul roughed in the plumbing for our half-bath, moved our old water heater (without breaking it), and neatened up some messy, ugly plumbing for a small laundry room. It was a tricky job with old pipes in weird places. He and his associates did an amazing job. They were reliable, showing up when they said they would; knowledgeable, coaching me on how to properly install the hardware, and completing their work in the timeframe they estimated. I loved that Paul installed a brace for my sink - refusing to allow me to anchor it to the drywall as the sink instructions suggested. :)He could have just let me crash and burn with that one. Through our conversations and this experience, I learned that Paul is a very likable, responsible, ethical, and hardworking individual. I was on a tight budget. Plumbing is never cheap, but Paul's cost estimates were accurate, and final pricing was equal to or less than his estimates. In addition, what he estimated matched estimates I had received from other plumbers. A year later and everything works beautifully. I will definitely call these guys back for any future plumbing work.

Paul walked me through the repair so I understood what was done and explained everything I needed to know for maintenance. I would recommend Paul and Balanced Pluming for any job you have in the future!

I hired Ben Franklin Plumbing (DeKalb) because they were able line the clay pipe leading to the…read moremain sewer, which was under the street, and line the 70 year old clay sewer pipe under the concrete floor in my basement without cutting up the concrete. Their lining (also called cured in place pipe) offers 2 yr. warranty on the work and 50 yr. transferable warranty on the lining material. My experience began with Aaron from BFP providing estimates for several possible outcomes based on what the initial camera inspection was able to identify. BFP began by replacing an 8 ft. section with a belly and installing a clean-out. Then hydro-jetted the line to the sewer removing a 4 ft. root ball that was clogging the clay pipe. Next they lined approximately 50 ft. of clay pipe to the main sewer and 25 ft. of cast iron pipe under the concrete flooring in my basement. There was no digging up my yard, other than to replace the section with the belly. The lining process required BFP to return on a Saturday. It was raining that day but Mark, the owner, returned working 4 hrs. in the rain to complete the lining process and insure the completed work was ready for the Village to inspect. I never sought estimates to trench to the curb or into the street. A neighbor had done this and the overall cost to replace the sewer line to the main sewer in the middle of the street was twice the total cost from BFP. In addition, the aging cast iron pipe into my house was lined. I will never have another sewer problem again. And if I do, I'll call Aaron and Mark at Ben Franklin Plumbing.
