While in Utica getting the truck serviced I consulted my trusty Yelp App looking for a brewery,…read morewhat pops up but Nail Creek Pub and Brewery. We sat at the bar which is typical and had the absolute best experience with Emma, the bartender, who was big as a barn pregnant, but looking very cute. Emma was personable, knowledgeable and very engaging. We really enjoy the conversation, food/beer experience. I had the tacos and hubby had the grilled cheese with a cup of the soup of the day, all was very tasty!! Beer was very yummy! Should you happen upon Utica, NY, stop by Nail Creek Pub and Brewery, it's a great place to take a load off and have a local brew, great service and conversation. Say hey to Emma, unless she is giving birth to her baby.

Any other time, if you are not a regular, this place might not be for you. I've been here several times with mixed experiences. The last time I was there was a Thursday in the summer of 2024. My husband, brother and I were excited to find seats at the bar and order dinner. The bartender was a short blonde woman and there was a male bar back. The bartender did not acknowledge us for over 15 minutes. We were actively looking at the menu on our phones and talking about what we wanted to try and attempted to make eye contact with her as she walked by us with no luck. She didn't even say "I will be right with you", literally no interaction. She was very friendly with everyone else around us seeming to know exactly what they were drinking and happy to get it for them. We left as we felt very unwelcome there and ended up having excellent service down the street at Lukin's.

This place is awesome! I currently live in beer-opolis Cincinnati, but was home to visit and just…read morehad to try them out because NY brewers are #1! I love seeing craft breweries pop up in greater Utica! We came on a weeknight during the late summer. It was surprisingly busy! Parking was a little hard to come by, so the best bet was alongside the road they are on. The place is bright and airy with a great log cabin feel. Inside there are quite a few tables. The porch also has plenty of seating. The outside lawn is huge and has several picnic tables, but also plenty of room to bring your own lawn chairs, which is what we did. There was some great background music, which wasn't too loud, and they often have live music! Ordering is done inside at the walk up bar. I started out with a flight because I wanted to try a little of everything! My favorite was the Third Rail Honey Blonde made with local honey. I could def take a growler of this home! Everything I tried I liked! Neat that all the names are a nod to the localities in Westmoreland! They also have a food truck onsite called Come and Get it. This is a place that is definitely fun to spend some time at and hang out!

The place was pretty much dead. The bartender was texting behind the bar and didn't even care for the tables around us either. The place also had a musty smell. We ended up getting up and walking out and went to Knuckleheads Brewhouse down the road, that place was excellent. We won't be back to 7 Hamlets.

The parking lot seemed pretty busy…read morefor a Tuesday night and I found out there was a (well attended) class that night in the larger dining area. I found out that they often have events like live music and bingo. The large room allowed the class to go on away from the main bar and high top table area. Orders are placed at the bar and the one bartender working had things running smoothly. I ordered a Watermelon Wheaton beer and loaded nachos. I immediately got my beer and got a pager for my food. There were a few regular tables along the perimeter among the high top tables but I chose to sit at the bar. The other patrons were very friendly and included me in their conversation. The beer was crisp and cold. The food came out rather quickly. The nachos were topped with beer cheese, fresh pico de gallo, sour cream, and scallions. There was a very generous amount of sour cream so I didn't have to worry about just eating chips. The bartender kept everyone served and knew what the regulars drank. She checked on me regularly. My only disappointment is that as summer comes to an end I will have to wait until next year to attend the events they have at the brewery.
