Went here for a pop up shop and stayed for brunch and drinks. Must stop when in Utica - brunch was fabulous! The side potatoes were YUUMMMYYY and so flavorful. Cucumber cocktail was tasty and so fresh. It was busier than usual but we did not mind waiting at all for service. Staff was so apologetic and kind. Would definitely come back again. read more

This place is beautiful and such a cool place for the neighborhood. Being across the street from train station is priceless. The staff is always kind and attentive and knowledgeable about the beers. The food is specific, tasty, just be aware this isn't your place for a salad. Brunch is a new addition since I last visited, and which is highly commendable. Just adds to a variation of items to order if you're more in the mood for a breakfast dish. Apple Crumble Dessert with ice cream is a delicious if you have a sweet tooth. Comes in a cast iron skillet with a yummy caramel drizzle. Hope you enjoy, we did! read more

The Brussel sprouts were the only issue with this dish, not bad just nothing special. On the note of the Swedish Meatballs, very large, filling and flavorful. The potatoes were some of the best I've ever had. They tasted like someone cut up gnocchi, sautéed them with butter and they just melt in your mouth with a flurry of flavor. read more

We had a great time trying out this brewery and restaurant out for the first time this past weekend! First off love the building this brewery is in! Nice high ceilings, cool lighting and interesting pictures on the wall. Hubs liked the beers and it was nice that they do beer flights to be able to sample. Food wise we had the brunch burger which was amazing! Beef patty, bratwurst, onion ring cheese sauce -oh my! It was soooo good! French fries were also yummy. Also tried the cheese spatzel which was so good! Absolutely delicious! The pretzel was not as crispy on the outside as most places so that was the only downside. Also had great service! Our waitress was extremely attentive! read more

I love Bagg's Square Brewing Company! This review is from a mid November dining experience. The food and beer were excellent. They have crafty beers too like you cider or pumpkin beer. I had their Oktoberfest, the German malt beer basically a lager. These always makes me feel full haha. My immediate reaction was "ouuu, mmm, really good!" I also ordered the schnitzel plate and finished that with my drinks. The plate was yummy. Nice job chef! The brewery has a beautiful interior in a classic brick building. The interior is modern and elegant. Let me tell you, this place is huge! There are two dining areas. First, is the bar along with another high table for dining. The second, is a huge dining space where you sit behind the bar and I may be wrong but I think there's an upstairs. There is also an outside patio for outdoor dining. The owner is so charming and lovely. We were chatting it up. Talking about work, travel and interests. She actually made a few gems in here. I had a spectacular time here and wish I ordered a different beer(s) but I was stoked when I tried the coffee gold and it was so yummy. :') Hospitality is great! I will definitely stop here when I'm in the area. read more

What a great place. Love the location being from out of town. Downtown was quiet with plenty of parking on a Saturday Saturday afternoon. The ambiance is nice, and the barrel tender was fabulous. She was friendly and attentive and told us about Oktoberfest in September. Many choices and great selection. Personally loved there were two options of dry or sweet for seltzers. The Guten Morgen beer was divine. Definitely a must stop. read more

Super fun selection of local brews and charming atmosphere paired with some delicious eats!! Rachele made some great selections. Loved the Altbier. Dark in color but super drinkable and refreshing. The WÜRZIGES HUHN chicken sandwich was fantastic and definitely should not be missed. Highly recommend!! read more

Walked in as a party of 5 for lunch. Walked out when they told us it would cost $7/pp just to come in because it was "Oktoberfest". They weren't giving us anything for the $35, it was just a surcharge to eat. Oh, and no waitress...order at the bar and get your own stuff. Absolutely ridiculous. read more

Very nice inside and good service but it stops there. The beer is mediocre at best. Had the pretzel and a few other items, everything is bland. It's turned into a gimmick establishment. read more

Fantastic brewery! We came in for lunch and a flight of beers and were very happy. It's a very cool place in Utica, NY. The decor is retro industrial. It has the feel of a loft style apartment, but as a restaurant. Exposed brick, tall ceilings, wide open. There is also a beer garden with seating as well, although the day we came was damp and a little chilly, while we sat outside to start, we moved inside when the weather gat a little raw. The food was excellent - my wife and I shared the schnitzel sliders and Bavarian pretzel - both were exceptional. I thought the beers were ok. I wouldn't say there anything that was really exceptional, but the flight we tried were all solid. Our server was extremely attentive, friendly and helpful. Overall, a great dining experience. read more

Stopped in for lunch on a way back from a road trip out of state (5-minutes from I90). Bartender was so personable and wonderful to chat with. Both the beer and food were delicious. Definitely would come back again. Huge dining area, corn hole play room, and a lovely Biergarten! read more

Was in town for our 35th high school reunion and as we had some down time on Saturday we embarked on a local brewery tour. I'm so glad Bagg's Square was on the agenda. Great food, impeccable service, delicious beers and all in a beautiful historical environment. Couldn't ask any more. Thank you all for welcoming us home and treating our large, boisterous group so kindly. You guys rock. read more

This is a nice space and the staff is competent. The food and the beers are lackluster, though. I would go back, but I would order a cocktail and plan to eat elsewhere. read more

Eh. While we're there on a Tuesday and it was apparent they were short staff, a quick comment or acknowledgement would have kept us there longer and spending more money Bartender was not happy that we gave him extra work to do; like asking questions for types of bouton sold ( which he proceed to bring us bottles which were whisky and not bourbon) Beer is ok but service left a bad taste read more

A nice brewery with great service, beers, and overall experience! Definitely a go-to place for a beer or two when you are in Utica NY! A good variety of beers to choose from & side dishes are delicious as well. Service was a little slow at first but got better. read more

My new favorite place in Utica. The bier is excellent, with a great selection to suit any preference. So much of the food is authentically German. They regularly are bringing in new bier and food. The building is beautiful, with their own Biergarten just outside. The owner is excellent and the staff are great. read more

Beautiful new brewing company in the heart of the City. This might be the nicest place in the city. Everything is brand new and very clean. The food was German themed and absolutely delicious! We did a couple beer flights and ended up taking a few ipa's home. They can can anything on request as you wait! Probably the best kept secret in Utica! read more

I found both myself and my family famished one weekday when we had come across Bagg's Brewery. Upon arrival, the workers were very welcoming. Accompanying their invitations, the entire set up was rustic and club-like making the whole experience very awesome. When we had received our food, we couldn't help but take from one another's plates to try everything and anything. The selection of German based foods is absolutely delicious. I highly recommend the Double Cheeseburger alongside the Swedish Meatballs!! read more

Food was amazing! Environment was great! Good drinks. I definitely recommend adding a fan outside.. would help for hot days

I wanted to love this place. The music was great. Vibe was good. Interior is beautiful. Butttttt the food and the service need help.

The atmosphere and the service are second to none. The owner is friendly and inviting, and the regulars are the absolute vibe!

Well there's nothing like a great brew place and unfortunately this is not it. I tried several of their beers as did my friends, 5 people 5 no likes. The food was average at best. I hate knocking a place but no reason to go back. read more

Cool place. Beautiful building, food was great. Service was horrible. Sat at the bar and was basically ignored. Bartender must have known the people at the end of bar. Wanted to order food to go but opted to leave instead of waiting another 20 minutes to be noticed. read more

The service was horrible. Our party of 6 started out with a waiter, then he didn't come back with any of drinks we ordered. One of our party tracked him down to find out that he was no longer our waiter. The new waitress finally came over and seemed overwhelmed. It took several times for her to bring water and ordered drinks. Finally after placing our orders it was another 45 minutes for the food to arrive, then we had to ask for silverware and napkins. My husband and my hamburgers were burned and were as if we were chewing shoe leather, the fries were cold and the tomato cucumber salad was blah. The stairs are difficult to get into at the front of the building for people with knee difficulties. Horrible service, lousy meal. This restaurant is definitely crossed off of our list. Word of mouth goes along way, and I will never recommend this sub-par restaurant to anyone who asks. read more

Absolutely great atmosphere to just go and chill with good friends and good food! Love the interior and so nice being able to talk to the owner! Can really tell she cares about each of us! read more

I've been here a total of 4 times and every single time the service has been horrendous. Bartender will simply stare you down rather than asking if you'd like anything, glasses sit empty. Seems weird when I'm trying to pay you to drink. When you do receive service it seems to be rude and snobby. The beer itself is mediocre at best. I lived in Munich for a while as an ex pat and I find it to be hilarious that the owners husband took a trip there once and subsequently modeled a bar after what was likely a week vacation. It is not a German bar despite a couple of lame attempts such as a helles and a lukewarm pretzel on the menu. The food really sucks as well as I briefly alluded earlier. There are much better places than this, especially for the price point.. Each pint is 7-8 dollars with no refill price and a very small window of time for happy hour. Do yourself a favor and choose a better place around here. The beer reminds me of Utica club for 5 times the price it ought to be, the food tastes like it was made by a child. read more

We were a party of four arriving for dinner at about 6:15 Tuesday. We placed our orders, several of which included spaetzle, and were told they were out. It's featured in a lot of their offerings. We placed our orders, including two appetizer; Brussels sprouts and obazda (cheesy bacon dip with toasted baguette). The waitress and finally the owner apologized for the delay as they were down a cook. After waiting for an hour and twenty minutes they brought out one appetizer, a lump of seasoned cream cheese and pretzels. When we asked for the bill for what we had received, we got a bill for some of the items ordered but not delivered. Inexcusable lack of communication. They should not have tried to serve meals with such a short staff. There was no offer to discount the bill especially the ridiculous excuse of an appetizer. We will never return. read more

Stopped for the first time......we'll be back! Nice selection of craft beers and German-inspired food. We weren't ready for dinner so we had a Bavarian pretzel that comes with three dips and Swedish meatballs. I absolutely loved the bacon jam dip that comes with the pretzel. The rest of the menu looks great as well. Can't wait to go back and try the Schnitzel plate and Alt plate. If you're a fan of German/Bavarian food you need to check them out. It was a nice day so we sat outside in the Biergarten, which we also enjoyed! read more
