The Apple Walnut salad was excellent. The ingredients were fresh and plentiful. The black and blue burger was really good and loaded with blue cheese. The fried pickles were lightly battered and very tasty served with two different sauces. The staff that took the order and made the food was friendly and the food was prepared quickly. This is a "Family Friendly" restaurant that offers free meals to kids on Saturday. This is awesome if you have a large family with small children but it makes for tight quarters on a Saturday night. While we found the black and blue burger just right, the Pioneer Burgers were greasy, not sure why but perhaps the cheese makes the difference. One note is that if you're paying with a credit card, the screen will ask if you'd like to add a tip. Since this was our first visit, we weren't aware that no service was provided but all aspects of our visit were "self serve". If I visit again, I won't feel guilty to choose the "no tip" option - it's there! We were traveling through and looking for a good burger which we found here. Some of the down sides weren't mentioned in other Yelp reviews we read and while they're not deal breakers, we wish we had known going in so included them here. read more

Maybe not while conscious.... but honestly after a great long weekend steeped in carnivorous bliss of mine own making I needed a break but I didn't want to compromise checking out a new place. The good news is that Ground is not just about burgers. They also make some kick ass salads and stuffed spuds both sweet and white so they cater to many palates, even the healthier meal seeker. To audition their "healthier" chops, I ordered a loaded sweet potato with grilled chicken steeped in hot sauce and ranch dressing. As an extra flavor blast I topped it with red onion. As the picture shows this was a sizable spud with ample amounts of said toppings, most definitely fit for a meal on its own.... Maybe the copious amount of dressing disqualifies the "healthy" moniker here, but man did it create a beautifully creamy and spicy amalgam with the soft sweet potato flesh...... also ordered was their kale salad as a side portion. This was impressive as the kale was very fresh as was the other ingredients such as avocado and peppers..... someone complained about them using "unmassaged" kale..... (eye roll)...... the kale had great bite and the dressing was on point...... my only problem with the meal was that the potato was served atop a wax paper lined tray. The wetness of the dressing made the paper soft and thus..... an added and free ingredient with my potato!!!!! Hopefully they'll figure that one out at some point. Lastly, if you are an extreme germaphobe (I'm just a germaphobe).... the dining area could be cleaner and better kept. The open kitchen and thus "grease factor" is present throughout as a perceptible film on the chairs and tables. Maybe a better ventilation system and an extra employee to bus the dining area and wipe down tables would improve the joint immensely. They guys behind the counter were welcoming and friendly. In my humble opinion, this burger joint deserves the title of best burger in Franklin. I go to the West Franklin location, and I love the atmosphere and people there. The taste is unique to their brand, and the quality of ingredients leaves you satisfied. The employees working their are personable, and make your orders with accuracy. Daniel and Mason helped me out there, and they are wonderful gentlemen, who will give you an enjoyable-friendly experience and conversation. I reccomend this place to everyone who asks me where to eat, the Four Alarm burger is bomb.com, and the fries are perfect. (I do hope they come out with some cajun seasoning, I can see them making an awesome one). Go try it, youll see why the experience is worth 5 stars. Keep it up Ground!!! read more

The burgers are fantastic, they give you more fries than you could want (and they're amazing), and the guys in there are super nice and helpful. They have tons of great sauces too. We prefer the West Main Street location to the Cool Springs one, but the food is the same. We like the atmosphere better there and don't feel like we smell like burgers when we leave. Oh my!!! Wow!! I had just finished a run at Crocket Park and was really hungry. I had been craving a burger, so I searched yelp to find a good place. Ground had excellent reviews, so I decided to give it a try. This by far exceeded my expectations! I know that sometimes when ravenously hungry food can sometimes present itself better than with a normal hunger level, so take that in account with my review, but.... this was one of the best burgers I have ever had! I ordered the double pioneer burger. I knew I wouldn't be able to eat it all, but I was really craving the double stack of meat. The burger was juicy, fresh, flavorful, with a good amount of grease! The fresh cut fries were great too! They were tossed with salt to give them a generous coating. The service was quick and friendly. Also, a bonus is that fountain drinks (coke products) come in a reusable plastic souvenir cup. I would definitely make a return visit to Ground! read more

The food here is awesome. Probably the best burger in Cool Springs. Great fries too. I plan on trying the baked potato when I go back. Try the mushroom nuggets with spicy ranch - very yum. Would be 5 stars if the guy at the register wasn't so unfriendly. I also agree with another reviewer that it's funny how the register prompts for a 20% tip but there's no extra service of any kind besides them making your food. The wall flow chart is kind of dumb too, not really sure what the point is. I'd prefer a menu. Go for the food, and stay for absolutely nothing. read more

First time at Ground. We heard a lot of good things about this restaurant, so we gave it a chance, and it did not disappoint. However, we placed our order online and accidentally went to the wrong location. There are two locations, so be sure you are going to the correct one. When Marco and Connor informed us of our mistake, they really took care of us. They completed the order at their location, and everything was so delicious. Marco and Connor are the greatest of all time!!! If you are looking for a great place to eat and where the employees take pride in what they are making, go to Ground. Went here for lunch recently. Had the BBQ burger, and it was fantastic. I really enjoyed the burger and toppings. The burger had a great flavor. Be prepared to see a lot of fries, if you get them. They really load you up with them. The only thing I would change would be to ease up on the seasoning after they cook them. They were a tad salty for my taste but I still like them. I tried the spicy ranch with mine, which was a good compliment to them. I would probably skip the fries next time, as I couldn't finish half of them. Maybe offer a smaller size for them? I would definitely come back for another visit for lunch when I am craving a great burger! read more

The fries are good and you get alot. The burger was good. It's cool that you go in and order your self on a machine then sit down and wait till they call you. The only problem was they where out of coke, our ketchup bottle was empty. Went to get bottles from three other tables and they where also all out. Had to go to the counter. The gentleman behind the counter was very nice and gave me a new bottle. When we left, you through your food away. Could not, the trash was over flowing. So food was not bad. The flavors are fantastic and this is the perfect spot for a comfort meal. The portions are large and you can get any burger wrapped in lettuce! 2.5 Nashvillians, you may want to consider the drive. I made a point to come to Ground for lunch on a Wednesday and I left not knowing if I had made the right decision to travel so far south. Truly, I was hoping for the 5-star experience so many people rave about. To begin, I'll fully admit that my dietary issues clouded the experience. I should have called in advance to ensure that Ground had G-F buns. They do not. As a result, I was unable to partake in the full burger experience... which is why you come to a burger restaurant. Rolling with the bounce, I decided on the Skinny Dip, which came with a salad. Given my druthers, I would have chosen a fat-laded burger with fries but things are what they are. Now, I wouldn't come to a burger joint for a salad (it comes with the Skinny Dip) and neither should you. The kale salad wasn't successful. The kale hadn't been massaged. If you've had a kale salad, you know that the kale needs to be worked and massaged, otherwise, the green is rough, hard to chew, unpleasant to swallow, and difficult to digest. The salad came with a two cucumbers, a couple of peppers, no sunflowers seeds, and green goddess dressing on the side. This green goddess was thicker than what I am used to. I didn't care for it and was grateful it came on the side. The Skinny Dip burger was a thin patty served with tomato and avocado and wrapped in lettuce. Looking for some fat, I ordered mine topped with cheese. I didn't find much flavor to the meat and with such a thin patty, you can guess the consistency of the burger wasn't much to write home about. The lettuce was more for form than function and I didn't find it helpful when it came to eating the sandwich. The worst part of the meal was the avocado. It was completely unripe, cut in strips and had the consistency of chilled carrot sticks. There was no way the preparer couldn't have known the avocado was unripe and shouldn't be served. It was inedible. I took my burger back to the grill and the preparer looked at me blankly when I opined about the sandwich. The owner, seeing me at the station, took hold of the avocado, noted that it was unripe, checked the other avocados, noted *they* were unripe, and asked if he could get me anything else. My appetite was gone by this point, so I declined but offered the opinion that it would be better to sub in something else than to serve inedible product. I left not understanding why I made the drive to Franklin for a burger when there are so many good choices in Nashville (that serve G-F bread). So, yes: this wasn't an optimal experience but I don't think I tried Ground at its best. To be fair, my lunch buddy greatly enjoyed his burger and fries. Realizing this, I'm willing to call the experience a wash. I'd suggest that you come here only for the tried & true. Don't veer. Don't try and be cute. Follow the well-trod path. read more

Sweet potato is a normal side. But sweet potato fries are $2 or $3 extra. Not sure what the logic is there. My experience: I don't care about "farm to table" or "non-GMO" or any of that stuff. I just care about the quality (and especially quantity) of the food. Am I getting a good meal for my money? When I first came in the restaurant I saw all the notices about "fresh" and "non-GMO" and "farm to table" and thought, "Oh no, this is one of those places that only serves meat that lived a free-range, grass-fed life with free college tuition. It probably costs $20 for a little kids meal sized burger with a handful of fries." Boy was I wrong. My burger was huge. I ordered the sweet potato on the side, but my wife got fries. And it was a lot of fries. No portion size problems here. The beef was delicious-- better than other restaurants easily. The fries were amazing. Sure, the meal was $25 for my wife and me, but I made mine a double ($3 more) and she paid $2 extra for the "build it yourself" burger when she really only needed the $9 Pioneer burger ingredients. And we both had so much food we could have (OK should have) eaten half and taken the rest for leftovers or even split. One more thing: the staff was excellent. I asked for a few of my burger's condiments on the side. Just in case they were going to put too much on or whatever. They forgot to put it on the side. I initially thought they had just forgotten to include the cups of condiments so I mentioned it to them. They accidentally included it in the burger itself. No big deal-- I was going to eat them anyway and it looked like the proportions were fine. But the guy at the counter (the manager, I think?) profusely apologized and went to make me another. "Seriously," it's fine I told him, "I'm sure it's great." "Are you sure?" he asked, "I can make another one really fast." "No, seriously it's OK." "I don't want you settling for a burger you don't really like." "Seriously, it's OK," I repeated, almost laughing. "OK, but if you don't like it for any reason, let me know right away and I'll make you another one." In the company where I work, we talk a lot about "customer obsession." How we want to do what the customer wants always-- even if it's not necessarily a good business decision in the short term. It's refreshing to see that attitude in a restaurant. The guy was sincerely, almost unbelievable concerned that I thoroughly enjoy my $9 burger. I will be back here again. And again and again. And next time, I'm bringing my kids.
