I took my dog here last week, and while his cut looked great when I got my baby home he was bleeding from his paw. The ladies there did not mention anything to me about nicking him or cutting his nails too short. I assumed they had cut his nails too short so I stopped the bleeding and moved on. A week and a half later he was still bleeding on and off and today i had to get his nail removed where it was barely hanging on. Cynthia strikes again with a beautiful cut on my bernedoodle, Lady! I was greeted this morning right as I came through the doors for our 0830 appointment and Cynthia came over to the counter to feel Lady for any mats and to talk about my goals for the appointment. She very thoroughly asked how long I wanted the body, how long I wanted the face, the tail - all of it! I can always count on Cynthia to leave me feeling confident of a good job coming when I drop Lady off. About 2.5 hours in, I received a call to let me know that Lady had some more aggressive mats around her belly. The receptionist gave me an opportunity to choose course of action, informed me of the store's fee for severe dematting (which can range from $10-50 depending on severity), and assured me Cynthia would help blend any cut patches out with the rest of Lady's cut. After a total of 4 hours had passed, I was called for pick up and was greeted by my Lady looking beautiful as ever after her time with Cynthia. Cynthia also asked from across the room if I had any other questions/needs/concerns - so attentive! Now the service is ALWAYS 10/5 stars. Cynthia and Krysten have both done wonderful jobs on Lady....however, this being my 4th experience with Groomingdale's, I noticed I have never paid the same price twice for an appointment. The receptionist was pleasant in my asking for an itemized receipt of this visit as follows: Spaw Large$95.00 (Lady is 60 pounds), Hand Scissor Upcharge$20.00, Severe Dematting$20.00. - It very quickly becomes a steep ($$$) expense but still worth it....I'll just be sure to brush Lady out more frequently to prevent any more dematting fees! read more

FACE BUTCHER, and NO ACCOUNTABILITY We've been taking our dog - Cavalier King Charles Spaniel (CKCS) - to this place for years. In the past, they've seemed to have had a good understanding of what to do, and what not to do, for this breed. This week, we dropped our Cavalier off, and asked them for a trim of the body, sanitary trim, and shaping/clean up of paws. At no point did we ask (nor have we ever asked) for them to touch anywhere near her face. Here are before and after pictures of our girl after the face-butchering she received - these were taken on the same day. You will notice the sides of her face have been shaved off with jagged and irregular cuts. Further, they cut off her whiskers, which we were told by our vet (who saw our girl today) that cutting off the whiskers could very likely have been painful. The vet also told us there is a chance the face hair/fur and whiskers may not grow back with the same texture or worse, may not grow back at all. The pictures say it all - she does not even look like the same dog. When we asked the staff about her face, they told us the person who worked on our girl was a "new groomer who had never done it before." We then asked to speak with the owner (Chrystal Ward), and the staff kept saying she / Chrystal was not available to talk, and that we "likely would not hear from Chrystal directly." We explained that we would continue reaching out until we did hear from her, so today, Chrystal called. She stated that they have had a lot of staff turnover, and that this "grooming" was done by someone who had never worked on a CKCS before. We pointed out how that is inconsistent with this statement on their website, "All staff is professionally trained by the industry's leading master groomers and are certified in pet safety/CPR and breed style trims." It is notable that at no point in the conversation did Chrystal express any empathy, remorse, or accountability for the inappropriate and poor service that was delivered, not to mention the trauma (and possibly also pain) our dog experienced. Further, when we asked her for the name of their insurance company, she refused to share it. Then she decided she was done with the conversation and hung up on us. Reading other reviews, Chrystal has hung up on other customers when they were expressing dissatisfaction and concern for their pet, and then replied to their Yelp reviews by accusing them of being "aggressive and threatening." Again, zero accountability on her part. Needless to say, we will never return to this place again, and would strongly advise anyone who cares about their pet(s) to take their business elsewhere. read more

Scheduled my appointment a week ago. Get there today, husband calls me and says he has light matting underneath (On speaker with the representative now)...typical and usual for a havanese. So I said yes get the mats out. I get there they have buzzed/shaved my dog. I never asked them to shave my dog. This wasn't my first time there but it sure as my name is Cindy Smith will be my LAST. I highly do not recommend! $85 dollars for them to destroy my 17lb dogs coat...who shaves a dogs ears? Horrible experience. Also nicked his chest area...too close with the clippers.. This group of fabulous humans are saints & miracle workers. I was told by PetSmart grooming my 9 months Golden-Doodle needed sedated grooming! YIKES! I looked high and low all over the internet and found Groomingdale's. I cannot thank you all enough for helping Doug and making him as comfortable as you could and executing his hair cut! Response to Crystal, the owner: I was not provided a consult with a groomer. I was provided a consult with Mika, who is the manager, not a groomer. She brought the dogs back out to explain the "thick coat", which wasn't matted. Again, they were only matted behind the ears. A thick coat and a matted coat are two different things. If the whole coat was matted, you wouldn't be able to brush it. We were brushing them all day the day before we brought them to y'all. Mika didn't even give any other options as to how the dog could be cut, like a lion's cut. She said, "either they have to get shaved down or we cant cut them." The Google review you're referring to was not my review. If you read my Google review, I didn't refer to anybody as "Hispanic" or "old". You can check the Google reviews for reference. And it wasn't 9 months since the last appointment, it was six months. And in between that time, we thoroughly brushed both of our dog's hair. When we went back to state our dissatisfaction and see what we can work out, Mika was rude the entire time. Mika came in, she didn't greet us by saying "Hi" or "Hello", she rudely said, "what's the problem?" When we explained why we were dissatisfied with the cut and wanted our money back or a partial refund, we were met with an immediate "NO!" from Mika. She didn't even try to offer anything like, "Well, we can't refund you, but I can give you a discount on your next appointment." Or just doing something to show that she understands that it's a bad cut. She just said no and dismissed our concerns like we were somebody off of the street. Mind you, this was our 4th to 5th appointment with y'all. So it's not like y'all didn't know how we liked them to be cut. Yall have the information from our past appointments to go by. Pull up the camera footage from before and after. Post it if need be. You will see where when I brought them in, I was telling Mika why do they need to be shaved down and the dialogue between us that I explained in the previous post. And afterward, where since she didn't want to do anything to reassure us as customers she decided to call the cops. We were met with passive aggression and rudeness. And when the cop came, Mika and an employee who wasn't even involved in the situation taunted us. After being rudely talked to, disrespected, and having the cops called on us, we still were calm and collected. If you were met with rudeness from us it's because you gave it to us. To anybody reading this that wants to take their dog here to get groomed, don't get fooled by Mika when she tries to tell you they need to be shaved down and tries to get you to sign the Shave agreement. Reading the other reviews on here and on Google reviews, she has done this before. I understand that Mika is your mother so naturally, you will take her side, but she has bad customer service. I held off writing this review for 3 visits, but I will say I have been consistently impressed and am so happy to have found this place. First time dog mom of a border collie/golden retriever mix with a fluffy double coat. I brought my pup Daisy in for the first time when she was 9 months old. She has never been a fan of water or baths at home and as her coat grew in, especially towards the end of spring when I scheduled her first appointment she was shedding a ton. Her first appointment she had a de-shed treatment and also trimmed up her feet and paw pads. This was my biggest concern because with hardwood floors in the house she was constantly sliding around. (We nicknamed her feet "grinch toes" because they absolutely got long enough to the point they looked like The Grinch!) This appointment took a few hours and she came back SO fluffy and clean and her toes were perfectly trimmed. Her second appointment we went with a normal bath and the paw trim again but they were much busier (Saturday appointments are the only day that really work for my schedule) and her appointment took almost 4 hours which was to be expected but I know was probably a lot for her. Now fast forward to today when I leave my review and why I believe they continue to have such WONDERFUL service and do take care of their customers and their pets. Daisy went into her first heat yesterday unexpectedly and I was unsure if I could keep her scheduled appointment. They assured me they could and that depending on the severity she may/may not need a small ($10) added cleaning fee which was fine with me. This was communicated in advance. I also let them know that Daisy does get nervous to come in (border collie tendencies, she's a little bit of an anxious pup naturally) so I made sure to schedule her for the earliest appointment and they also have an "express service" fee ($25) that will ensure your pup is done with their full appointment in under 2 hours! This was an excellent choice for my nervous girl and she was done in 1.5 hours today which both her and I appreciated. Her coat was so soft and freshly dried and brushed and her paws again looked wonderful which truly is my favorite part for her. Since she is double coated we never get her shaved or fully trimmed but the fact her baths are always so consistently great and her paws always come back the way I want them keeps me coming back. The cute bandanas at each appointment are also such a sweet and fun touch! In my opinion with such great service and staff, the costs are well worth it to know my girl is in the best care each time. I also love that I'm able to support a local business in doing so v. a pet store or larger corporation. I love that they're willing to work with your pups individual needs and are always open to receiving questions and concerns. This was my first time bringing my Goldendoodle to this salon. A few weeks before my appointment, I had a consultation with Krysten and told her exactly what I wanted. I told her to give my puppy a two inch body cut. Trim the legs. No hygiene cut. We went over all of this. I even showed her a picture of what I wanted. She told me she understood and would keep his teddy bear look. Fast forward to grooming day. I bring my puppy in. We go over what I wanted for my puppy once again. She checked my puppy and confirmed that with the exception of his ear, there was no matting. I then leave so that my puppy can be groomed. 4 hours later, I couldn't even recognize my puppy! I was furious! Against my will - Krysten gave my puppy the hygiene cut. She botched shaved his chest/stomach, she shaved off his entire behind area leaving him exposed. She shaved his body hair to half an inch. And left a shaved spot/dent on the top of his head and random shaved/dents on his body. My puppy wanted to get out of there so bad, he hopped over the gate to me, and then headed straight to the front door. Keeping my composure, I asked Krysten what happened and why did she go against my requests. She basically just stood there as if she did it on purpose. She either knew she botched up or she literally doesn't know what the heck she is doing. How in the world is she a groomer?!! Then they charged me $143.00. Though I was unhappy with the service, I made the payment. The owner, Chrystal, later told me that if I didn't pay, despite me being unhappy with the services, they would call the cops. I went home. Still upset. My dog looking completely abnormal. I called and spoke with the owner Chrystal and she had a very nasty attitude. I told her I had to pay $143.00 for services I did not request. I asked for my money back, or even part of my money back. Her response - No. They can't do that. But they can leave notes and do a 10% off next time. BUT THERE WILL NOT BE A NEXT TIME! Your dog is supposed to look better after getting groomed. But after going to Groomingdale's, my puppy looks the worst he's ever looked. I also later found out that my puppy's ear was bruised because Krysten nicked him and tried to cover it up. Krysten botched shaved my puppy and the owner Chrystal condoned it. Now, I am forced to look at this botched up hair cut every day for the next three to six months which is causing me a lot of mental anguish every time I look at my puppy. My puppy is very bothered and uncomfortable with a shaved behind. This is literally the WORST GROOMING SERVICE he has ever had!!! If you have a goldendoodle - take your services elsewhere because they clearly do not know what they are doing! My puppy had a better job done at PetSmart. RESPONSE TO OWNER: Chrystal, you must have me confused with another customer because I never verbally abused, threatened, bullied, bashed, or insulted you or any of your groomers. Your claim that I verbally abused or threatened your staff is completely unfounded. I suspect that you falsely and stereotypically characterized my behavior because of your inherent prejudice toward people of my background. I also never cancelled my appointment three times. That is a lie. I made my first appointment for March 7th, and actually moved my appointment up to February 29th. And again, with the exception of his ear, my baby did not have any matting. In fact, Krysten told me, and I have a witness, "I wish you could teach a class to all my doodle parents about how to prevent matting." There is no reason for me to try and scam groomers as you seem to insinuate. I make a respectable living, and I have more than enough means to pay for a dog hair cut. I understand that you are trying to cover up the poor and unprofessional job that Krysten did and your refusal to refund my money for the unsatisfactory service, but lying, deflecting, and trying to discredit my character is not the way to go. I will consider taking legal action regarding this matter. read more

This was the very first time I took my boy to a groomers. My little man is adopted and was pulled from an abusive home before he came to his forever home so he is always nervous and as you can guess has separation anxiety. Yet this groomer worked wonders and made my guy feel like a million bucks. From the moment we walked in, they were attentive and 100% animal lovers. They took note of my concern about leaving him for his first time (crazy mum more worried then my boy). I warned them that he didn't like men and they took that information and made sure he had a female groomer so he was comfortable. They confirmed ALL my boys medical records, so I knew I didnt have to worry about him coming home with something and they even pointed out the cameras they have running so if I had ANY concerns about what happened when I wasn't there, I could view what happened. They told me it would take 4 hours, and they finished early, notified me and were completely OK with the fact it took me 45 min to get there. My boy came strutting out of there like he was a super model and I couldn't stop smiling. He had an ADORABLE bandana on that even hours later, he still doesn't want me to take off (he pulls away every time i do, so i guess he will be rocking his new look for a few days! :-) ) Thank you to the groomingdales team for going above and beyond to make me feel comfortable and answering my millions of questions with a smile. I have brought my standard Goldendoodle to Groomingdale's twice and have had an awful experience both times. The first time I discussed what I wanted with the groomer and we agreed to cut him a little shorter due to some matting. I was called back 10 minutes later and was told that he had to be completely shaved to the skin because his matting was bad. I was devastated as a new dog owner and when I picked him up I was reprimanded at how matted he was by the lady at the front desk. I told her I was a new dog mom and asked to speak with the groomer for tips as I would love to learn. After eye rolls and a 10 minute wait I was able to talk to the groomer who told me I needed a special brush. I asked to see what she was talking about and was confused when I was using the same brush at home. The second time I went I prepared for 1 week making sure to fully brush out my puppy and even brushed him for 45 minutes prior his appointment. I was so proud of myself and asked for them to keep his hair a little longer. No one called me after 5 hours and I was getting concerned because they were closing soon. I called them and asked if he was nearly done and they said they needed another 45 minutes (Understandable because this was a holiday week). I left 15 minutes after I got off the phone and was called and yelled at for not picking up my puppy before they closed. I was really confused and let them know that someone had just called me and they yet again yelled at me. When I arrived the owner came out telling me that I was neglectful and that if my puppy was a child she would have called CPS on me. I was appalled and so so confused as I was told he wouldn't be ready to be picked up until after they "closed" anyway. She was not understanding or courteous at all. Her mom was working the front desk and told me her daughter had a rough day and not to worry about her. She proceeded to charge me $25 for "matting". I explained to her again that the groomer and I looked at his fur prior and agreed that there was no matting. She said it was in his armpits and I really needed to do a better job.... NEVER AGAIN. Worst experience ever. They make you feel like shit no matter how hard you work to keep your baby's fur well maintained. read more

Don't take your dogs here if they have a long coat. They automatically say that your dog is matted even if it's not. The old lady (apparently the owners mother) at the front desk is rude and pushy. I came in the follow day demanding my money back and she refused because she made my boyfriend sign a "shave agreement form". He only signed the form because she told him he had to. The lady at the front desk is NOT a groomer and did not even take the time to have a groomer come out and talk to him or feel my dogs or even give him options of different cuts they could have. They are Pomeranians and most Pomeranians do in deed have a thick coat, thick and matted are completely two different things. She refused to give me my money back and called the police when i said then i refuse to leave. The police knew it was a horrible haircut but could unfortunately do nothing. The police tried to bargain with the old lady, Mika about showing some semi decent customer service by giving me at least a semi refund and Mika refused. Maybe the owner should find her mother a different line of work because customer service is not it. It's honestly not worth the stress to take your dogs here. Find another groomer asap. If we were truly "harassing" (as you like to put it for being dissatisfied) your elderly mother we would have been escorted out, instead the police tried to REASON with your mother about giving us a a refund after seeing how HORRIBLE the cuts were. Your lies aren't adding up at all. You say we harassed your elderly mother to point she had to call the owner (you) another lie, we requested for her to call you because her customer service skills are trash. Like I've said in my google review which you try to delete because you, your staff, your mother and my boyfriend know your lying, it seems like you and your mom have a habit of being rude and then playing victim. Groomingdales was recommended to me by a friend of mine when I got my new puppy about 1.5 years ago. I have been taking her here ever since. She always looks pretty and smells great! They take great care with the cut & style and top it off with a bow or a bandana. For the services, I think the price is reasonable. Really happy with everything. I brought my 3 dogs with hair. They did a great job grooming them. The dogs were happy when I picked them and they looked great. They were also able to fit me in in less than a week. I'm traveling so might not be back but would be a regular if we lived here! read more

Best groomer I've ever been to! My pups always look adorable and when something isn't exactly what I wanted I know there's a good reason. They've dealt with my dogs when they were filthy, matted, injured, and very old and I know I never need to worry about how they'll treat them. I love the way I hear the groomers talking to the dogs they're working on - even the not so friendly ones. I've been bringing my dogs here for 11 years and wouldn't go anywhere else! read more
