You can tell she genuinely loves what she does because she puts her heart into it. She went above and beyond to make sure I was taken care of every step of the way from helping with my bags to checking that I got home safe after my trip. That kind of thoughtfulness is rare these days! Brandi, if you ever read this!! THANK YOU! You made what could have been a stressful travel day feel easy and enjoyable. You're already looking for your "exit ride", why not have a chauffeur to take you to the salon or drive you to the venue?!? He drove extremely safely, and got me to the car lot in plenty of time to complete the purchase of my new car, even going so far as to tell me which route I needed to take on my return trip home. It's served primarily by Delta and American Airlines, and everything is conveniently located within the same vicinity. The car rental companies are right by the baggage claim area, while the check-in counters, TSA checkpoint, and departure gates are all on the same level. One thing I appreciated was that flights begin operating early in the morning, making it convenient for travelers. The airport has one restaurant and one gift shop, which is sufficient given its size. One of my favorite features was the abundance of massage chairs throughout the terminal. I treated myself to a 20-minute massage for $20, and it felt amazing. Although the airport does not have airline lounges, that wasn't a problem since the seating areas were comfortable and accessible. There is, however, a hospitality suite available for active-duty and retired military personnel. I also enjoyed the local touches throughout the airport. Several displays honor James Brown and other notable Georgians, while exhibits highlighting Augusta's history can be found throughout the terminal. Near baggage claim, there are even zoo-themed backdrops where travelers can take photos. The Delta and American Airlines gates are located in the same area, and there are plenty of restrooms available. Overall, this is a simple, easy-to-navigate airport where you're unlikely to get lost or miss your flight. The staff member (woman) who greeted us showed none of the southern charm we hear so much about. We felt like we were a burden during check-in. We saw her one other time, and she didn't ask how things were going, and walked away from the desk when we walked toward her w a question. She was not present when we checked out. Aside from the blasting AC--joy to our northern ears--we were really disappointed with our room (the one at the top of the stairs in the main building) and generally underwhelmed w the hotel experience. Upon closer inspection you see that the hotel is shabby and in need of some attention. The issues w our room included: the dresser drawers having improperly long bolts/screws which snagged clothes multiple times, nearly ripping items. The room didn't look clean; stained carpet, as well as areas of carpet w water damage, as the AC unit dripped nonstop. It's safe to assume the staff is aware of the problem, as there is noticeable staining on the wall under the drip. All of this extra moisture left the carpet soggy under the AC vent, and the room smelling musty. There were stains from, god only knows what, over our bed. And the cherry on the cake was the cockroach we saw running around our bathroom on our last night. We've stayed in loads of hotels in the south and have yet to have had that happen. The one saving grace was the kind cook. Suffice to say we won't be going back.
