Delicious breakfast! Cute little gift shop when you walk in and great service. They were really busy but we got a table on the patio pretty fast. The hostess even moved it into the shade for us. My only complaint was that they sat a group of obnoxious college kids next to us, but it's not the restaurants fault that the kids don't know how to behave. read more

Never again! I had bad service about a year ago and swore I'd never go back. I decided to give them another try and it was a big mistake! My waitress was rude and my order was wrong. My husbands meal for cold waiting for them to correct mine and when I asked her to bring him out a hot meal all we got was attitude. A woman (the manager or owner) was berating an employee in plain site. Completely unprofessional. The place has great décor and grizzly bear items. We didn't know what to expect but it was crowded and thought it was going to be a decent dinner. Our waitress Lori was so nice and hospitable. The food was excellent and I am a big critic. The Italian Wedding soup and mixed green salads were very good. The veggie burger was one of the best I have had in a long time. We also had their salmon and halibut and both were cooked perfectly with some nice side dishes. We got the chicken sandwich with avocado, sprouts and tomatoes to go and loved that too. read more

My friend and I ate here for a late lunch after being on the Blue Ridge Trail. It has a really nice cute gift shop when you first walk in and a nice small quaint restaurant with decorations of mountain living. The food was really good and homemade. The only thing was the coffee was weak but thankfully they had hot chocolate with whipped cream on top which my friend said was very good. The potato salad is homemade with even hard boiled egg in it except a little bland, you just need to add your own salt and pepper. I gave it 4 stars if only because our sandwiches, Philly dip and blue cheese burger were like $10.50 or so and some even $11.50, which to me is still expensive for a sandwich and a side no matter where you are. But it was a nice place with nice service and good food nonetheless. I just remember that they have these giant delicious looking chocolate chip cookies on the checkout counter. I bought two and they seemed a tad on the stale side. Which means they didn't taste as good as they looked. read more

Our family all got together for the day and we picked Wrightwood. My brother had called this restaurant to see if we could make reservation for 15. They weren't sure if they could accommodate us? Well we took the chance and all met there for our family lunch get together. We were seated in about 1/2 hour and 4 different tables all together in the restaurant. The service!and food was excellent ! Didn't feel like we were putting them out cause of the big group.I would recommend this restaurant to anyone. I had the beef dip, it was excellent. read more

This place os by far the best café in town. Super friendly staff, great service and delicious food. We loved it.

We had the worst experience ever at this place. My daughter who has never knowingly eaten red meat, ordered the clam chowder. After eating half a bowl, she discovered that the clams were masquerading chunks of bacon. Bacon in clam chowder, WTF? She was horrified. We brought this to the attention of the inattentive waitress. She apologized insincerely but offered no remedy (e.g would you like something else?) We suggested that she at least alert future customers to this unconventional ingredient. She was on autopilot. We also brought it the attention of the hostess. She replied by finding an arithmetic error on our bill and increasing the amount of the bill. She didn't even take off the price for the soup. I was incensed. It was the first time in my life I didn't leave a tip. I guess we learned our lesson...never eat at a restaurant with a corny gift shop. read more

Two words: comfy cozy! The decor reminds you of grandma's cottage in the woods- cobblestone fireplace, wooden furniture, trinkets everywhere and home style cookin. Don't expect anything fancy. The cinnamon rolls are HUGE and the chicken tenders are pretty tasty. Their country fried stake was a bit dry but the gravy saved it. Their clam chowder is rich and hearty but not too thick with lots of potatoes and clam meat- yum! After a day of snowboarding or just walking around in the cold air, this place would definitely hit the spot. The people seem genuinely wholesome and friendly. Not bad. read more

We went here after a beautiful hike with our dog, because it was listed as dog-friendly. It is not! Service dogs only. However, they offered us a table on the patio next to the small parking lot. So we left the dog in the car with all the windows down, it was cool enough to do it safely. The food was great and the service outstanding. My family and I went to eat at the Grizzly Café yesterday. We had just come from playing in the snow. It was about a 15 minute wait. Not bad at all. The waitress was wonderful and very patient with us. This was our first visit and we took some time looking at the menu. The place was pretty full. The food was delicious. My toddler ate every bite of his mac n cheese. My only complaint was on the host/cashier up front. She was pretty rude and I wasn't very impressed considering she is the first person you see when you enter and the last before you leave. When my sister went in to put our name down she just asked, "Do you need something?" after a minute or two. When we were leaving I decided to buy something from the store. Another guy helped me with that. As I was paying my friend wanted to buy a cookie and she asked how much. The guy told her it was $2. My friend said she would take one. The same host from earlier turned around and rudely said "Its cash only, just so you know." As my friend was getting cash. All in all I would eat there again. Just feel like the rudeness of the person up front was a little of a downer. read more

I am a Wrightwood local and have eaten at "The Grizz" many times...but not once since 2009. The place is adorable. The food is....eh, okay. Nothing to write home about, and a bit on the pricey side. The Rueben sandwich WAS tasty, tho. Everything else is bland, boring, cheap buffet quality. The reason I stopped going here altogether is that the owners of the Grizzly ignored MANDATORY evacuation orders during the huge fire (The Sheep Fire) in 2009. So did The Yodeler. Only The Evergreen/Raccoon Saloon heeded those warnings and closed as they were supposed to, and they took a huge hit financially. Meanwhile, the Grizzly stayed open and made a mint feeding all of the media who were swarming the place. So...with all that cash they took in by IGNORNING MANDATORY EVACUATION ORDERS, I reckon they don't need any of mine. read more

When my friends and I are on our Sunday motorcycle ride we always head to Grizzly for breakfast. Good food and great staff.

First of all, it's the same food over and over on the menu. It gets very boring being locals. Secondly the vegetables are under cooked and unseasoned. A cute place, and the servers are really nice, but they cannot handle volume. I called to place an order on Monday, January 2nd, and they had their phone of the hook for quite some time to avoid taking orders. Very bad customer service. If they cannot handle volume... DON'T BE IN BUSINESS! I have been in business for many years and customer service by all means comes first. The breakfasts are good, but dinner menu really lacks. Very few healthy options and the same dishes unchanged. I moved here from San Diego, and thus far very disappointed on how this area handles businesses, particularly since there are very few to choose from. read more

The Grizzly Cafe is a nice cozy experience. They have a beautiful gift shoppe. The place has a cabin appeal to it and is decorated quite nicely. The Chili here is awesome. If you like chili ..this is a must try. They offer a great selection of burgers and sandwiches which come with fresh yummy potato chip if you like. I have had the grizzly bear burger, the reuben and a prime rib sandwich and enjoyed them very much so. The cornbread is also delicious. It's a great place. Give it a try if your in the area. read more
