The Grizzly Cafe has all the elements of a good restaurant. The service, food and atmosphere is all great. This visit was one of many but this time we had a big party of 9 and the owner Leo was very accommodating to our needs. Our Server Yvette was fantastic and very attentive. Having to mention the food is delicious. We had the Grilled Pork chops, tri tip and the soups of the day: potato cheese and meatball soups. All these dishes were scrumptious and a great finish to our day in the snow. We live in Los Angeles and every time we visit Wrightwood we make it a point to go to Grizzly Cafe. This place deserves a stop before heading back up or down the mountain. We went up to see the snow and got hungry for lunch. The servers were really patient, kind and helpful. I got the chicken Caesar salad and it was huge, filling and delicious. My brother in law got the tuna melt with sweet potato fries and he said it was great! There cream broccoli soup was amazing and super comforting after an hour out in the snow. It was a great experience and the gift shop attached to it had beautiful Christmas decor that made the feeling so wondering and homey. We loved it and we hope to come back soon! read more

Yum! Worth a drive just for lunch or dinner! We stayed up in Wrightwood for a girls weekend and decided not to cook lunch or dinner! Both meals were excellent!!! Been to Grizzly Cafe many times. Has always been good until this morning. Had to finally get up and find the server to get a cup of coffee. When the food came, my plate was so hot it made the watermelon warm. I had a very relaxing time here, especially after sledding. We had a late lunch and I was shocked that a small cafe was able to be organized with the amount of people walking in. It was getting busy and usually I hate that, however, the noise level was kept a moderate level and the service being pretty quick. Overall, I suggest anybody to go here! This was our 2nd time here. 1st time was great... today was not good. I got the Eggs Benedict with country potatoes same as last time but it was a totally different meal. My potatoes weren't cooked so I asked if she could have them thrown back on the grill. She asked if I wanted them in the deep fryer, I said "No, I don't want them fried like French fries." Well.... they came back fresh out of the fryer.... they were oily & gross. Needless to say the rest of the plate had cooled off. At that point I was afraid to send anything back so I ate the cool EB & left the whole plate of potatoes sitting there. My daughter's eggs were not cooked right but her French toast was good, bacon to die for! Hubby's omelet was great! I'm hoping it was a new cook or something. 12/30/19 my family and I had the unfortunate pleasure of going to our usually friendly grizzly cafe. Horrible customer service. We used to like going to this place as we frequent Wrightwood a lot. We will never be back. Granted we had a party of 10 but immediately we were told we don't sit parties of 10 (why not trouble shoot?) and the wait time was going to be an 1.5 hr. On top of that-we were told we needed to wait outside in the snow (it was snowing as well) and 28 degree's. The two hostess then said "bye-bye" as to get outside of our restaurant now. Giggles and eye rolls are not a good quality of hostesses. The place was not that busy, no violation of a code. The two young hostess girls were extremely rude! Names were-Cameron and Bailey. How they are point of contact is shocking and a bad representation for this lovely cafe and town. read more

I've been here several times. And Most recently have taken the drive from the HD to eat here! Service has always been great and the food is super tasty!! Especially their potato cheese soup! It's wonderful! There's also a CUTE little shop in front! So fun to walk around especially during Christmas. Super cute ornaments and decorations for your home or to give as gifts. read more

Besides not being acknowledged by the hostesses for over 5 minutes, this restaurant definitely deserves 5stars. Braden was our server and he was awesome. Very kind and friendly as well as very efficient. Our food came out to us fairly quickly and it was very delicious. Braden visited our table an adequate amount of times, made sure our drinks were filled and had all of our extra requests given to us in a timely matter. The restaurant was very clean. We came here about a month ago and I wanted to share the unfortunate rudeness from the hostess girls at the front. We had 8 people and they said the wait was almost 2 hours and asked us to wait outside. Who wants to wait outside in the freezing cold when there is plenty of room inside? There was only two other people inside the waiting area/store so it wasn't crowded at all! The actual seating area was full but I didn't see the 2 hour wait. Not only where the girls rude but it's a poor representation of a cute little cafe I won't be coming back to. Oh yeah, to make matters worse they didn't care I had we had my little 3 year old nephew in my hands. Such a cute little spot. Everyone was friendly and our waitress was great- wish I got her name. They have a cute little gift shop upon entering. We started off with their freshly made potato chips and salsa. Both my husband and I would definitely get that again. Then I got the sandwich with cream cheese and cranberry sauce but I can't remember the name. It was good but I'd try something else on the menu next time. My husband got a burger with sauteed onions on it (I can't remember the name, either- I'm being real helpful, aren't I..?) and he said he definitely would order that again. The food is better than most of the places on the main street the main dining hall can you get crowded pretty quick in the weekend and there is a waiting time the outdoor patio it's pretty nice if the weather is fine but sometimes he can get noisy and I had lots of flies one time that made my stay almost impossible had to go inside. A good place to grab a meal after camping or hiking in the forest. Reminds me of a mix between Black Bear Diner and Cracker Barrel. I got the country fried steak with mashed potatoes and split pea soup. I was a little irked after I chose white sausage gravy for my potatoes over the more traditional turkey gravy, and the waitress said "yes it's best to keep things all white." I was with my Asian girlfriend, but I assume she was simply talking about gravy add wasn't trying to be racist, but still, they need to chose their words more carefully. Me and my 2 friends wanted to go to the mountains so I could see snow for the first time. We found the area that our friend told us about. This place recommended we eat at was Grizzly Cafe. So we drive an hour and 30 minutes to Grizzly Cafe. And it's about 9 a.m. I think, and we go inside and we are greeted by Roxie a waitress for the grizzly Cafe. And we asked her if there is any snow around that we could go and see and play with. She is very nice and friendly and recommends we go down the street to Mountain High Ski Resort and there should hopefully be snow there. So instead of eating we go to the resort for any snow left before it melts. Sure enough there is snow there and I finally get to see snow for the first time in my life which is awesome. After we play in the snow and do all that stuff we go back to the cafe and Roxie greets us again and this time we sit down and eat. We order food the food comes out nice and fresh and everything tasted amazing as Roxie said it would. The whole experience going there was great and I recommend anyone going to the Mountain High Ski Resort stop by and pay Roxie a visit as you won't be disappointed! read more

I went up to Wrightwood when it was snowing and we decided to eat at this little breakfast place. The restaurant was clean, the waitresses were friendly and I really enjoyed the atmosphere. The food was just ok. I ordered the corned beef hash and a side of biscuits and gravy. The corned beef hash was straight out of the can and fried to where it was too salty. The biscuits were great and the gravy was just ok. It lacked a little flavor. I would definitely go back if I am in the area, I would just order something different. There is a little store that is attached that has a lot of little country style items that are really cute. Overall it was a neat place. read more

Cozy place with awesome food. Really loved the ambiance of the place, felt like we were eating in a cabin in the woods. Had a cool gift shop as well and my niece and nephews loved the moving Moose head. As far as the food, we all enjoyed what we got. I ordered the tuna melt and it was surprisingly good. Love that they season the fries and they are nice and crispy on the outside. If i'm ever in the neighborhood again i would go back and try out some other menu options.
