GritCycle Monarch Beach is an amazing place to workout. The staff is amazing. Always greeting me at 5:30am with a smile on their face. The studio is clean and inviting. The vibe is awesome and draws a very fun crowd. Matt's 5:45 am class is the perfect way to start your day. His energy is contagious and he makes me work harder than I ever have. I also got Crystal's 4:15pm class and she is killer with awesome music! Be ready to Sweat!!! read more

I am absolutely LOVING GritCycle! Each class is a killer workout, but it is the amazing energy that keeps me coming back. The teachers are all so inspiring and radiate positivity, which makes for an incredibly fun and upbeat atmosphere. The awesome music and lighting systems also definitely add to the experience! The Monarch Beach studio itself is always spotless and is a gorgeous location with great amenities. The front desk staff is so friendly and welcoming, and everyone goes out of their way to make new riders feel like part of the Grit family. I am so glad I tried out Grit! I'm totally hooked and would DEFINITELY recommend it to anyone on the fence about trying it. read more

Wow! GritCycle is a game changer for me! One of the best workouts I've ever had. It's a WE thing Not a judge mental environment. Steph is the bomb! Take her class, great energy! This place is so clean and you won't regret taking a class. It's high energy, great music and the instructors are helpful and fun. All the staff is very nice and helpful. I recommend this place to everyone ! Great job Grit Monarch Beach!! read more

This is by far the best spin studio in OC, starting with Manager/Instructor G.I. Jess Ginsberg. She has created a first class list of instructors, starting with her as best instructor in the business and an outstanding customer service staff. They provide lockers, showers, towels and the place is immaculate. I have run 55 marathons and have now been spinning for 2.5 years. It is an outstanding, fun workout, a fantastic facility and a great community of people. read more

Grit offers different degrees of good - every - class is good, every play list is good, every workout it good. Today Reina's class could not have been better (well....more peeps could have been there to appreciate the amazingness). Reina absolutely killed it! It was an early morning class and there were only a handful of riders. The small class had no bearing on Reina's energy, positivity, and motivation...we got every bit of it. A lights out acoustic symphony toward the end was a gift given to us with only Reina's inspiring words nudging us forward....what a great way to begin a day. Thank you Grit team! read more

Grit Cycle is the best! I'm a super busy mom and executive and was desperately needing a place to burn some calories that I actually enjoyed. I had previously ventured to Newport for spin and just couldn't justify the commute and every spin studio in south county was lame. Not Grit. The music is loud, the room is dark and the classes are hardcore! Jessica Ginsberg's 5:45am class is definitely worth waking up for and I now can't start my day without it. I actually love going here and you do become part of their family, just like Jessica says in our last sprint each day! It's the best spin studio in OC! read more

I have always worked out but mostly as a soloist so testing out Grit was an adventure for me.. Jessica the manager is really a special human and sets the tone for this toney facility. This activity is intense but you will be amazed at the different ages and body types that can master this mother! ...and you better love to sweat! There is no Hot Yoga studio in my area now and Grit gives me that deep purge with the added burn of the spin cycle! I am now completely addicted to the nitty gritty :) read more

I love making it to Gretchen Westgaard's classes when I can! I work all the way in Costa Mesa so its always an awesome treat when I can get to her workouts! BEST BEATS by far, so much energy. Love your attitude and always so friendly to help out and pump you up! Can't wait for my next spin class with you! read more

The best spin classes in OC! Grit has the best instructors & each instructor is extremely motivational and encouraging. An amazing workout, great music, and clean studio. Love the complimentary cool towel at the end too. 10/10 recommend !! read more

I had a pretty great experience, Sara was very authentic and Steph was electric with her energy. Would def take those again. Another teacher I didn't enjoy that much and her particular workout kind of hurt my knees, wouldn't attend hers again. Overall clean studio and nice staff. read more

Wow! Incredible cardio workout! Helpful staff, cool environment, high energy/incredible instructors!!!! Highly recommend GritCycle life anyone looking for a fantastic workout!! read more

I can't say enough amazing things about this place. This was my first spin studio ever. I started when they opened in Monarch Beach and felt right at home right away. My first class was Matt's class and didn't know if I loved it or hated it (wasn't easy) so tried again and and was hooked! I go religiously 4 days a week to Matt's and Jessica's class and get in with the other instructors when free. All of the front desk girls and Adam are so nice and knowledgeable and everyone is down to earth. They always have the cutest clothes and the studio is immaculate clean!!! If you haven't been here you're missing out and your first class is free so nothing to lose. You'll be addicted! 400 cals burned in 45 min while listening to amazing loud music with high energy people. read more

GRIT CYCLE in Monarch Beach is the best. All of the instructors are great but I have found SHANNON one of the best. Her classes are usually at 10:45am Mon, Wed and Fri. She has a level of high intensity combined with music that follows the workout. Shannon motivates your 45 min with her to one of the best workouts that I have experienced. Go check out Shannon and GRIT CYCLE . Keep smiling....Kevin read more

GritCycle - Monarch Beach - Ritter: Pristine facility; staff is professional, approachable, warm, and helpful; all instructors are at the top of their game. My go-to instructor is Matthew Ritter, aka RITTER: His class is high energy, high vibe. He's experienced and knowledgeable, and always makes sure you get the best possible workout for your level. The playlist is rockin' and always changing, so class is always fresh and fun. I couldn't be more pleased. This is definitely a five-star experience. I'm so thankful to have found such a place. read more

The only workout I actually look forward to doing. The energy in this studio is UNBEATABLE.

I found out I couldn't run anymore, and I never thought I'd get my heart rate up again...then I tried Gritcycle! I love the music, the challenge and the energy of this group class. The teachers are great, and the classes bust your butt. read more

GritCycle MB has been a breath of fresh air for the indoor cycling fans around here! Right when you walk through the door you begin to feel the motivation and energy! The studio is clean and the welcome staff always has a smile for you. If you are new I highly recommend trying as many different instructors and times as you possibly can. You will always get a terrific training session! I personally feel that the Manager Jessica Ginsberg is the best of the best! Her consistency day in and day out is impressive. She clearly leads her team by example. Jess's classes are truly amazing and not only a great workout but you'll feel great about yourself and ready to tackle anything that comes your way! Thank you Marisa, Matt and team for choosing Monarch Beach and Jess to lead the way here! read more

Grit Cycle is an amazing workout, clean facility, great instructors and fun music. Grit Cycle is very charitable and gives to may causes within the Orange County community. I would recommend Grit Cycle very highly!! The energy is incredible and very motivating. I really look forward to this workout!! read more

I was visiting family over Thanksgiving and wanted to squeeze a workout in after all the holiday meals. I was happily surprised by this studio. It has a beautiful layout, Cassie's class was really fun, challenging, and over quickly. I loved the high energy. I'm used to a more traditional hill climbing spin class, but hers was a fun, whole body challenge. I loved it so much, I even went back the next day. Would recommend to a friend who wants a good, sweaty and fun workout. read more

I was a die hard fan of their location in Costa Mesa and when they opened this location it was even closer to home so that means that I can spend more time at Grit! There is something about that first 5 minutes of class, when the first beat drops that gives me a sense of clarity and sets the tone for the full day! The music, the energy, is off the charts and it's what motivates me to keep coming and that's at 5:45 a.m.! Everyone there is also so accommodating and wants to ensure that not only you get into class, but you have a fun and amazing ride! It's definitely my soulmate work out! Thanks to Matt and the Grit team! read more

I've been meaning to write this review but I've been a bit conflicted. I truly enjoy this studio, I really do but there is one major flaw to me that brings the rating down. First, it's a clean, bright and well run studio. I enjoy Matt & Charmaine a lot. They bring great energy to their classes. So why only 3 stars? First, the bikes don't have a monitor for you to monitor your progress and help you stay on track with your fitness goals. OK, no big deal. I can use my Apple Watch. Well that's a yes and a no. I can use it, but I can't light it up during class to check my progress as I go. I can only see my results on my watch when class is over. I understand that this may not be a con to some people but it's a BIG one to me. I'm a fitness instructor myself and I really value my own personal workouts. I like to track my progress and make sure I stay on track. Taking away my ability to do that during class means I don't work as hard and I burn less calories. I need those numbers to help keep me motivated. Again, great studio but this is a major downfall for me. read more

The instructor Mindy is AMAZING. Talk about a full body workout. Not only is her class, instruction, and music choice extremely motivating and fun, she really puts in the effort in to making everyone feel welcomed and excited, both new riders and regular! Love her weights portion. If your looking for great 45 minute cardio workout take Mindy! read more

Who would have known that improving your heart health and lung capacity would be so much fun! The Grit community makes you feel so welcomed and supported. Instructors Jessica and Matt fill the room with amazing Positive Energy as they instruct you through 11 songs. The music has such a great beat, the room fills with sweat, smiles, & encouragement! The time flies by, leaving you wanting more.....This IS the way you want to start your day! Saddle up for the best ride of your Life! read more

Love this place. The workout is INSANE(ly) good, the facility is immaculate, complimentary towels, ear plugs, hair ties, spin shoes, and alkaline water. They've got plenty of nice and new lockers to hold your things during class. Right at the end of class the doors whisk open and staff members cruise the room and give you chilled towels - it's amazing. There are always a few people working so if you need help with the bike, or have questions about your account someone is always available. They pick up their phones too, which sadly doesn't always happen at other gyms. Great instructors, great music, incredible workout, and they do lots of charity work here as well! Thanks Grit!! read more

GritCycle is the absolute best. I had never been a big fan of spin until I came to Grit (now I'm hooked). For starters the staff is incredible. All the girls at the front desk make you feel so welcome even when you are new, something that isn't typical of a lot of fitness studios I have been to. The first class I ever took was with Steph, and now I try to go to as many of her classes as I can. Her classes are awesome, she works you hard and is motivational but she also keeps us lighthearted and fun! I have taken classes with a few other instructors and never have I been disappointed! Overall I would recommend Grit to anyone who is looking for a place to have fun, feel welcomed, and get a killer workout in! read more

Grit Cycle is the best! I've tried them all and their teachers are all incredible, super friendly atmosphere, very clean, bikes are awesome, spin studio is spacious, sound system top notch. Jessica is my favorite teacher (she is also the studio manager). Jessica has a contagious spirit of energy and fun! Her music selection is the best! She will put you through an amazing workout that is challenging but goes by so fast because she keeps everyone laughing and motivated throughout her class! read more

I love the GritCycle Monarch Beach location! This location is my favorite studio so far. It is in a great location being in Monarch Beach Plaza. The store is super open and has great fun merchandise. I love the lockers, they are very clean and there are enough for everyone. I also just love the studio's layout. While to me the Costa Mesa location is smaller and more tight to me, the Monarch studio is roomier and just feels better. I love the instructors and class times that this location has available. Madie is my favorite instructor! I take her 7am Saturday class and it is so much fun. I am NOT a morning person, and so a 7am spin class honestly is not normal for me; but I literally book the class for Madie. Her music rocks and her enthusiasm makes you want to spin faster, work harder and get a body like hers haha. After class, you get the most amazing reward which is a cold, eucalyptus soaked wash cloth that you can wipe your sweat with. Then you can enjoy a nice shower with the best complimentary, organic shampoo/conditioner/body wash and towels. Their restrooms are super nice, you feel like you are at a spa or a 5-star hotel's gym locker room. Everything about this studio is amazing, I could go on and on about it! 5 stars! read more

I've tried every spin studio in the area and Grit is by far my favorite! Amanda is my favorite instructor

This is NOT a bike ride! I wandered in to see what this business is, and was offered a class to try out. I did, but more about that later. The place is beautiful, the staff are helpful. There are lockers, alkaline water fountain, clip in shoes available and very nice, chic exercise/lifestyle clothing. I have 1,000s of hours on touring and mountain bikes, but I was not ready for the spin class. The music is loud (good). The instructor, Lisa, was super encouraging and reminded us, often, to show up for and listen to our bodies. Lisa suggested ways to "dial it back" as well as ways to push beyond. I was glad to be in the back, so I could see the more experienced people doing the moves. I didn't expect the light show, black lights or complete darkness, but it was pretty cool. I did manage to stay on cadence for the whole class, but was in the saddle while most were up and riding it out. At the end of class, they delivered chilled eucalyptus towels to everyone, we stretched and thanked ourselves and the bikes. If I didn't live 2,700 miles away, I'd be buying a package, today. read more

I love this place! Super high energy workout class. The facility is really nice and well kept. The structure of the classes are fun and upbeat leaving you feeling ready to take on the day. The items they sell in the studio are super cute as well. I've really enjoyed my workouts here and plan to keep coming back. read more

I've been going to Grit for 3 weeks. At first I was very intimidated but from the front desk greeters to the instructors everyone made me feel welcome and a part of from the start. The classes are so much fun and so difficult. I've never had a workout quite like this. When I leave I can't wait for the next class and I feel like a million bucks! Each class is different and I love learning the new techniques and moves. Thanks Grit for making my workouts fun and productive again! read more

Amazing instructors and complimentary towel service - nothing better! Also, the classes are not too brightly lit and have sufficient lights-out periods, which is not true of some other studios. I love it here and will definitely keep coming! read more

Great energy and instruction. They put a lot of effort into making sure everybody gets a good workout. The pricing could be a little better.

I took my first class at grit in monarch beach and absolutely LOVED it. The instructor Shannon was amazing and so engaging. I couldn't stop talking about how great the class was and how great Shannon was. Additionally, The studio was a clean and succeeded my expectations. Thank you for an awesome experience! read more

Grtities and Spin Masters- Grit has done it again. I am a loyal Costa Mesa Grit rider for 2 years. I have now switched from Costa Mesa to Monarch Beach due to proximity to my home!! Matt, Danie and Jessica have done an amazing job. The studio is incredible. The equipment new and amazing. The reception desk is beyond friendly upbeat and motivational. A big Shout Out for Adam that is always ready to help. My prescription is Matt and Jessica at 5:45 am to start the day out perfect and Lisa on Wednesday night. There is no better spin studio in So. Cal much less OC. The equipment AMAZING, attitude- humble, kind and motivational, Energy- sincere, surroundings exquisite. You can really see that expertise of ownership using their great experience to craft and amazing studio and spin experience. I suggest everyone give it a try and Thanks Grit for giving us all and amazing environment to motivate each other and focus on health and balance. One more point, the fellow riders at MB are an amazing group of joyful and kind people, they will motivate you. It takes a village...... Grit Monarch Beach has done it. read more

I'm a rookie to cycling, but have quickly fallen in love. I've tried 3 different studios in the Orange County area. I took 5-classes (new rider special) at each studio to get a good feel for each loction. All studios have very helpful staff and do a great job of getting their members engaged.. but one studio stuck out from the rest - GritCycleMB. I know I really like something when I drive out of my way for it. It takes me 30-min to get to GritCycleMB, but I make the trip 4-5/week because I love the studio, staff and instructors. In fact, one of the three studios I mentioned above is only a 5-minute walk from my home, but I still choose to be a #GritGirl (: My first encounter at GritCycleMB was with Steph. She is an instructor as well as the GritCycle Brand and Design Manager. She was beyond helpful. I have PFPS on both my knees, so I always have to be careful when I'm doing any sort of exercise. Steph guided me through the proper (shoe) cleat placement for my specific condition... and advised me to connect with one of the instructions (Lisa) who has a dual degree in Kinesiology, so she could make sure I have the best (and right) experience for my disposition. Steph even checked in on me outside of the studio to make sure I was doing well after taking a few classes. She seriously is a doll (generous/ considerate) and super fun-loving ..she always makes me smile! Lisa is my favorite instructor at GritCycleMB. she has the BEST energy. most cycling instructions have an abundance of energy, but Lisa's energy is very strong and grounding. She has an engaging and polarizing personality (in a positive way). She embodies "yin-yang" traits - they might not seem like they go together but in reality are VERY complimentary ..and because of this she embodies and projects the "serene balance" that we all strive to attain in our lifetime. I don't know anyone who makes me feel like I can push myself beyond my limits while still feeling very safe and protected. Usually when someone is pushing me beyond my limits, I "shut down" immediately and escape as fast as I can.. Lisa provides the generous space for me to "work" on myself - whether it is physical, mental or emotional. BTW, Lisa would be an excellent reiki healer (just saying). GritCycleMB is GritCycle's second studio. Their original studio is in Costa Mesa, which I go to from time-to-time if I'm squeezed for time or decide to drop in a class at the last minute (since it's closer to home), BUT I personally prefer the Monarch Beach studio - partially because I have a soft spot for anything immaculate - everything is brand new, super clean and it's a huge space. I even love the bathroom with all their amenities (shower, toiletries, bags for wet clothes, poo-pourri, etc). The Costa Mesa location has the same amenities, but it's a much smaller space and been in business for quite some time. One last thing about GritCycle is my obsession with their branding. Their "Grit Blue" color has always been a favorite of mine (meant to be!) and I love the consistency with their brand appearance and messaging "..having grit - the passion, perseverance and motivation to overcome challenges.. refusal of defeat.. " all of this gives me extra motivation to just DO and BE !! read more
