Love this studio! Great instructors and always an amazing workout!

I love love love this studio. Especially Steph Castro! She has been a light for me and my fitness routine. Her music is amazing and she pushes you hard in every class. Just wish she had some morning classes. It's worth the wait for the afternoon though!! Do your mind and body a favor and try her and grit out!! read more

Of the four local indoor spin studios I tried, GritCycle is favorite! I tried my first class through ClassPass. I signed up for a 6:45 p.m. class on a Wednesday evening with Morgan. GritCycle is very similar to SoulCycle - dark room, loud music, fast movements. I arrived early and the parking lot was very full. There's a small front desk area filled with GritCycle-branded merchandise. There are lockers and a shower available on the other side. The class was packed! I noticed only a few empty bikes. The room was pretty dark and warm the entire ride. Morgan was super energetic & friendly. I loved her playlist! read more

Just updating my review. Last two classes were done in 40 minutes. Most expensive, shortest workout in OC. Love the studio but will be trying others that give at least a full 43-44 minutes for a better workout and calorie burn. Love the classes and music. Studio is beautiful and high energy. But classes are often short, 40 minutes instead tear if 45. When other studios have a full hour, 45 is already short, and when they are short it's hard to get a full workout in. Rouh read more

Yes yes yes to all things GritCycle. Helena is AMAZING and knows how to run an insanely great workout class while creating an inclusive environment. I can't say enough good things. I highly recommend! read more

I was brought in today by a friend for my first ever spin class so I didn't know what to expect. My instructor today was Leigh and she was awesome! I normally have a hard time getting my sweat going during a work out and let me tell ya, it was pouring! I definitely recommend a headband. The music was on point and the cold wet towel with essential oils provided at the end was the cherry on top! Can't wait to do another class. read more

I love Grit! I'm always impressed by the energy in this studio. All of the instructors I've taken here are incredible and should be so proud of themselves-- the hard work and passion really shows. You'll leave a sweaty mess and want to come back for more! read more

GRITCYCLE is a must-go in Orange County! I have been going to GRIT since October when a girlfriend introduced me to it and I have been undeniably HOOKED ever since. It has truly been a spiritual experience and I highly recommend giving it a try. The studio is beautiful and immaculate, truly a community-driven space with an open-air deck to socialize pre/post class. They offer variety of amenities including an alkaline water fountain and chilled eucalyptus towels (the best part!) after your sweat session. The instructors each have their individual style with different music and choreography, but collectively are all SO talented, genuine and encouraging. My favorites are Allie, Marisa, Kaitlin, and Cassie. The post-class endorphin high always has me feeling refreshed, empowered and uplifted. Whether you're looking for a stress release, a good sweat, or a dance party, GRIT is your temple. P.S. For my fellow "athleisure" shopping fiends, GRIT offers a unique selection of hard-to-find boutique apparel including KORAL, All-Fenix, Spiritual Gangster and Planet Blue. read more

Absolutely love Grit!!! Amazing instructors and staff. If you ever have any questions or concerns before or after class instructors/staff are always available and ready to help. You will get an incredible workout and leave feeling great! read more

Free water machine Tons of free towels Bags to put sweaty clothes in. post ride ICY EUCALYPTUS TOWEL - love these :) *I do wish there was one more shower and you didn't have to pay to rent the shoes. Matt's class- his music is the main reason why I go. Ive been to enough cycle instructors to know that Matt is the best out of all of them. I highly recommend this place. read more

I have been spinning for the past 5+ years, and I have been to many different studios! I really like Grit cycle. I think that the instructors are fun, music is great, and the class is super challenging! I love Sammy's energy and music. :) read more

I just have to say that I was not an avid workout individual, and this place has been life and mind changing for me! I definitely want to give a shoutout to Marcus! But truly, Every instructor brings their A game and helps me to do things I never thought possible! Has helped my relationships with life, work, home, friends all in a positive way. Strongly encourage those who are debating doing this, literally if I can do it, anyone can. Thank you so much Grit cycle for schooling me about what Grit is. read more

Community, love, support, family.. this is what grit is to me. My everyday safe place. This place saved my life. From the front desk staff to the instructors and owners, nothing compares to the feeling I get the moment I walk in this place. Thank you for always inspiring me to push myself a little harder. read more

Good work out but the place needs a serious power washing with some bleach added for good measure and maybe a working fan or two? Not sure if I wanted to faint due to the heat and/or the Tijuana brothel smell emanating from the place? read more

Yesterday, my friend, who is a loyal member of grit, wanted me to try out a class. I always had a slightly fear with bikes in general but as I was approaching my bike. The staff was so kind and friendly on instructing me how to sit on the bike and features of the bike. I appreciate it because it eased my anxiety about the experience. Then the instructor, Katy, made it a point to introduce herself and welcome me, which was so nice. She put me at ease by reassuring me to I could go at my own pace and just have fun. At first, I felt like a fish out of water, but after a while I got the hang of it and it was really fun. Katy's personality and vibe made the whole experience enjoyable. Definitely going to try it again. read more

Wow this place really blew me out of the water! I am new to cycling but with the amazing friendly atmosphere, the disco feel to the inside, and the amazing music I will be coming back much more often! They make cycling fun and offer everything you need to be comfortable including ear plugs if you think the music is too loud and a eucalyptus towel at the end. This place really goes above and beyond and the atmosphere is more than amazing! read more

I absolutely love grit cycle. I've been coming for a little under a year now and it is the only workout that I thoroughly enjoy! My friends and I always say it feels like a Vegas nightclub when in the saddle room. When the lights go off and the bass kicks in, you forget you're exercising and not just having a good time out! I love how the bikes don't have metrics on them because sometimes when you're a bit tired but still want to go to class, you won't feel like a lazy ass by not knowing your cadence. The classes incorporate a lot of upper body, which you can't get that much of on a peloton at home. The classes are a bit pricey but it's totally worth it. The instructors thoroughly think their regimen through prior to class so you're doing something active the whole time and in tune with the loud music. I love Jaclyn, Kaitlin, and Steph only because they play more modern music that I always actually know the words to, which help me ride with more grit (lol), but Chelsea, Kelli, and Charmaine are amazing also! They're all great to be honest. I've never left feeling like I didn't get my butt kicked in the best way possible. Bring your own shoes, though, as they do run out of your size sometimes, the peloton shoes work here just fine. read more

Grit Cycle is my favorite spin studio is Costa Mesa! The instructors are fun and motivating, and the music is always so good. I like how the room is often dark and spinning becomings more of an individual practice, rather than competing against others. I would highly recommend this studio. I've especially enjoyed Helena's classes! read more

Grit is the BEST! Shoutout to Kelli for making my days better and full of energy!

The minute I wake up on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays I look forward to my GritCycle class with Kaitlin at 9:30. OMG she's a beast! She pushes you to your limits until there's nothing left of you. She's the best spin instructor I've had by far. Her class is so fun, upbeat, intense and very addicting. After going one time, I couldn't get enough and kept coming back for more! read more

Grit was my first taste of cycling, and honestly after the first class I was HOOKED! I have been cycling almost 6 days a week ever since! Love the vibe, love the music, every class is the best workout ever! read more

This place needs to move to a larger location with much more parking. The parking lot has like 15 spaces which does not accommodate for their large sized classes. read more

This has nothing at all to do with the instructors, but the front desk STAFF! oh my gosh, no goodmorning no smile on their faces.. you say thank you to them they still don't respond. I get it, its early but think about if you were in a position to go to a place for exercise and to release some steam, but instead get more annoyed because people can have such a resting b**** face. The girl in the front, (cathrine), she is also going to be an instructor at gritcycle. You really need to learn how to smile and greet people before you start teaching a class. Theres also a new asian girl (trisha) whose brand new, and i dont know what her deal is but she always in a mood too. Also this was the second class of the day and my bike had used towels on it from the previous class.. that means they don't clean or inspect each bike in between classes. I would rethink coming to this location.. Hire staff that at least will greet you or acknowledge your presence. read more

Grit cycle has become my favorite spin studio in OC hands down. Great vibe, friendly staff and incredible instructors. Definitely check out Helena because her class is AMAZING and my absolute favorite. Not only is it a great and efficient work out but it's actually fun! Plus the studio is super cute and clean. I highly recommend! They're also on classpass which is awesome. read more

I've likely been to every fitness/spin /group/non group/ class imaginable-- NONE comparable to the extreme sweat, warm vibe, loyal team, and serious ENERGY that the studio exudes. Unique differentiation et ultimate workout consistency within each of the instructors is key to coming back for more. This is why GRIT has become a solid part of my weekly workout regime, for over 4 years now And will continue no matter where I go-- With 4 locations spread throughout OC you can catch a kick-ass class with a rad instructor wherever you are commuting from. It doesn't hurt each instructor resembles a fitness cover model with personality to boot. No exaggeration here- whatsoever. Whether you like spin or not-- GRIT is contagious & i highly recommend giving it a whirl- guaranteed it will become part of your obsession as well. Doesn't hurt the they consistently support local philanthropic endeavors , hosting Karma rides with proceeds going direct to causes that touch hearts like Johns Wayne Cancer Foundation etc. Gritty up and take a class ;) read more

GritCycle - Post-Grit SOAKED. - Cycling Classes Near Me - Costa Mesa, California

I love this place & love spinning here ! The studio is adorable and the classes are an incredible workout. I have taken a ton of instructors, and my new favorite is Jaclyn. She owns that room & makes every class unique, fun and filled with energy. Her playlists are always diverse & her style pushes you each class. Her Saturday night class is fire & I hope to see her on the schedule more !!!! read more

I rode with Jaclyn this morning who was subbing for a different instructor and she KICKED MY BUTT. In the best way, of course. Jaclyn's playlist was amazing. Songs that I knew the words to, so that I could get lost in the beat instead of focus on the intense workout I was in the middle of. I love her rap songs. I saw other riders talking as I was leaving about how it was a super intense workout. If you want your 45 minutes to be worth it, ride with Jaclyn! read more

I've tried other cycling studios in the past but Grit is by far my favorite! I've been coming here for about 5 months now. The app is super user friendly to book or buy classes. Danielle is probably my favorite teacher! Check out the studio and give it a spin read more

I was skeptical and a bit scared walking in to my first class, cuz I haven't taken a spin class in...10 years...? And I haven't been doing any cardio either lately. It was INTENSE but so much fun! I'm now multiple classes in and am obsessed. As a person who hates (HATES!!!) cardio, the choreography, weights session, camaraderie, amazing group energy, and hype instructors have made me love this. Now I'm going twice a week...who would've thought?? Also, I generally take Kelli's class and she is *amazing*- which I say even though I risk more people signing up for her classes, because she's great! read more

Be careful about the expiration date on your package. I used to love grit and ended up buying a package during a flash sale. Due to a glitch in their system, the 5 class package expired in one month (although the fine print stated the month countdown started when the first class was used) A few injuries later and not being able to go to grit, I have been unable to extend my class package (although I never used the first one) and have lost all those classes. Similar to the quick expiration on soul cycle packages. I will say grit is a great place for a good quick sweat, with the only other downsides being a lack of parking and only one shower. Overall I would say to give it a try but be very cautious about purchasing classes read more

Well I'm pretty sure my eyebrows are completely off my face. Grit cycle...you complete me...Charmaine...you complete me. If you're going to try this place you must book with Charmaine. Her energy is like fire. She has ignited that once dull flame inside me again. After having 2 kids I took a long time away from working out, from pushing myself, but not anymore. Grit Cycle is life. I'm so lucky to have this studio in my backyard. Now it's time to spin away this baby weight! read more

When I lived in New York, I was a SoulCycle Junkie. Then I moved to Brea...Womp Womp Womp. Luckily, I work at a dental office RIGHT NEXT to Grit Cycle and OOOOOOO it's filling that void I got when I lost my spinning classes. Grit Cycle while being eerily similar to SoulCycle is AWESOME in its own right. The COLD EUCALYPTUS TOWELS after a major sweat session are much appreciated. I also appreciated: -Ample Parking -Clean shower room with everything you need (shampoo, conditioner, towels, etc) **PS there is only one shower so if you are a rooster needing to get to work give yourself a buffer. -Lockers with "make your own code" built in lockpads (no need to bring lock) Free filtered water machine to fill your water bottle -Positive atmosphere First class tips: -$16 (Then after it becomes $22) -MAKE SURE YOU BRING WATER TO YOUR FIRST CLASS! -You can figure out which teachers are really popular if they constantly have a waitlist- ahem, MATT. In my experience you still have a good chance of getting in the class if you are waitlisted -As with most fitness classes, the first one is usually spent trying to "keep up" with everyone else. It may take a class or 2 to get the lingo, but nobody is judging so just have fun! -ATTIRE: try not to wear yoga pants like the Lululemon Groove pants (The ones with the flares). They might get in the way while you are trying to bike. TRY to wear pants that are more like tights. (example: Lululemon wonderunders). Any workout top that you are okay getting tons and tons of sweat on. If you are the type of person that starts bopping when they hear a good beat, try this class out! You will see what great shape these Costa Mesa girls are in and be a believer! read more

Was recently injured and was looking for a place to get a good cardio workout in. On the west side of Costa Mesa. I enjoy working out and being pushed and challenging myself. All the instructors are amazing and have great music. It's something fun I could do with my friends before or after work and on the weekends. There's always new challenges and limits push yourself. I have to start somewhere. Then instructors are also very motivational. read more

I love it here! I'm not one of those people that loves to workout, but I have learned to love it, thanks to Grit! This place is like a dance party, gym and night club all rolled into one! It's actually FUN to work so hard that you feel like you might throw up. The facility is beautiful. It's obvious that a lot of thought went into planning Grit. There is plenty of room, everything is super clean and they have all the amenities you would expect at a high end studio. I love the cold towels they pass out at the end of class! Love the filtered water, love that if I forget a hair tie, they have them. Yes, it's a little more expensive then going to your average gym, but this place is NOT average! You get what you pay for and Grit is worth every penny. I've taken classes with 4 of the instructors here and I enjoyed them all. They are all high energy and will give you a great workout! Matt, Dani, Marisa and Stephanie are fantastic! Eat, Sleep, Grit, Repeat! read more

I just wanted to give an update to my old review! My last review is almost a year old! I still feel the same about this place, and it is even more dear to my heart than ever!!! I wanted to write a new review because I have gone to other instructors since and they SO NEED A SHOUT OUT!! Katie- I am obsessed with her Sunday classes! Obviously, any class you to go of hers is going to be amazing! She is a true spitfire, and you will be in the best way ever so dead after her class! She plays music you never even knew you could spin to!! But somehow she makes it work amazingly! Allie- She is almost the best-hidden secret! I always go to her 5:30 pm classes, and there is usually always a bike open! But not for long once people realize how insane her classes are and how amazing her music is her classes will be stuffed! She is always changing up her music and keeping you going! You will be dead after her sprint jumps!! Kaitlin- If you need a kick-ass morning wake up specifically at 7 am! Kaitlin is your girl she brings so much energy to that class and has you somehow engaging your core while doing sprints and making you move back and forth! You will leave with a pile of sweat under your bike! Kelli- OMG! Besides having a kickass name:) I will take her 6:45 pm class and OMG for some reason I always forget how much her class kicks my ass!! You will be motorcycling and doing hand hops and changing it up so much that all of a sudden its time for the last sprint! I love constantly changing up moves to keep me sane haha and Kelli's classes go by SO FAST because she is always changing it up and having you use all different parts of your body! Lauren- Lauren is my little beautiful blond secret!! I love when I can making her late Friday night class! She plays the most amazing rap and hip-hop music! I always think I am going to take her class easy, but with her awesome, energetic spirit you are up the whole time and loving it!! Also, you should follow her social media she is always sharing healthy food recipes! Jessica- BOOTY....that is all I can say.....she has this one move where your BOOTAY will be screaming, and you will love it!!! Summer bods are built in the winter, and Jessica will build your bikini booty with her burning moves Lisa- I LOVE her classes......she always has a new move every time I go to her class, and I LOVE IT. She is great when it comes to creating moves that target your core perfectly! She also has insane taste in music! I constantly see on social media that she is always trying to improve her classes more and you can always feel the insane energy in her classes!! Obviously, ANYONE Grit hires is amazing, but I just love to share and give a shoutout to the people I go to! I have the other instructors I love in my last yelp review and still love them all! You will not regret going here:) read more

Grit is kind of like SoulCycle minus big corporate backing. Situated in its own building in Costa Mesa, this place has the feel of a small business that knows how to get the details right. First off, the front desk staff is very nice, welcoming, and helpful. I've gone here a few times and they've always been great. Once you sign in, they have a small locker area across the way. It's a bit tight, but you can manage. The studio has what you would expect of a spin space. Plenty of bikes, with the instructor in the center. It's got a good layout which is a bit tight. The music is usually really good and these classes are kept on the beat, with plenty of exercises in between. It reminded me a lot of SoulCycle, which is a good thing. What Grit did have that Soul did not is an ice cold towel at the end of the ride. Which was basically the greatest thing anyone could ask for, given that I had just sweat my butt off for 45 minutes. The only negative with Grit is in showers. They have all the amenities and plenty of towels, but unfortunately, their small building only has one. Other than that, I would highly recommend checking this place out. read more

This place is the best, by far! I usually go to Taryn as its a good time after work for me, but I think she is truly talented and very inspiring. Her classes are great. She doesn't yell the entire time (You can actually enjoy the music) She challenges you She inspires you She works as hard as you and doesn't get off her bike all the time! Her energy is contagious I highly recommend this studio to anyone. read more

I wanted to update my review for Grit Cycle. I initially gave them 2 stars, because the instructor was not terrible, however my experience with the staff absolutely was unacceptable. Unfortunately, I have to give them 1 star because even though I have not returned to the studio, the experience continues to get worse! I posted an honest review, pointed out pros and cons of my experience, and now the studio is claiming that I refused to sign the waiver. This is a completely false accusation. They reached out to class pass and claimed the same. I signed the waiver after the class as requested by the staff. It was a paper waiver, with highlighted lines at the top for personal information. The only info that I wrote "n/a" for was my address and phone number. I wrote my name, DOB, and email. I signed the front of the waiver and then initialed/signed the back. They are falsely claiming I refused to sign the waiver and did not respect company policy... the dishonesty is also demonstrated in the yelp reply left by the "business owner." She claimed "we have no way of contacting you since you didn't sign the waiver." Again, this is false. You can reply on Yelp (as she did), Yelp also has a DM service, and they already contacted ClassPass about this particular situation. Studios like Soul Cycle set the bar very high with incredible instructors, outstanding customer service, a very clean facility, the best technology in bikes, and very challenging classes. Grit doesn't even come close to the caliber of a studio like Soul Cycle. Again, definitely won't be returning to Grit. read more

Grit cycle is amazing!! Whenever I take their class I always feel motivated to keep going. All of the instructors are so helpful and encouraging! The music playlist and ambiance make it so fun! They have he best filtered water and eucalyptus towels at the end. The Costa Mesa location is in the cutest building too. I will keep coming! read more

After taking a two month hiatus from the gym I knew I needed to do something to motivate me to work out again. Although I used to exercise regularly, my last spin class experience was five years ago at a 24 hour fitness. I decided to take the one hour class instead of the 45 minute one (go big or go home). Needless to say, I was a bit intimated coming in. However, that all dissipated as soon as I checked in. The receptionists were super nice and accommodating. I had reserved through ClassPass so I did not get a chance to choose my bike; I was just assigned to one in the first row. Noticing I was intimidated by being in the front, the receptionists eased my worries, said the instructor would help me out, and that I always had the option to switch seats. The facility itself is well planned out and has everything you need. To the left is the reception area with towels, (free rental) shoes and some apparel for sale. The center is the "Saddle Room" with all the bikes and awesome lighting. The right is the locker and bathroom area. I did not get a chance to use the shower so no review on that. About 5 minutes before class started the Saddle Room was opened and I was greeted by our instructor Katie. Right away she asked the class if anyone needed help setting up or if it was their first time. She set up my bike for me and we were ready to go. This was one of the best experiences I have ever had working out, which is what has made me come back again and again (or as many times as my wallet allows). The room gets dark, the sound starts blasting, and everyone gets ready. Having everyone around me on beat and following the instructors calls for sitting back, standing up, doing figure 8s, etc really motivated me to go as hard as I could. Katie was also extremely positive and engaging. She even gave me and some other newbies a shoutout by our names saying how great we were doing, which was a special touch. I left feeling reinvigorated and like a sweaty mess: two things I love getting from a workout. Love this place and its positivity, keep it up! read more
