Cauliflower double pepperoni pizza
Lenny S.

Not bad. A little expensive for two 12" pizzas. Also the cauliflower crust was a bit undercooked

Empty booths.

I have plenty of time to sit here in Grimaldis and write a review while we wait for over 45 minutes for our pizza. This happened last time too. It should not take this long to get a pizza on a SLOW Saturday afternoon. Half the tables are empty, we did not get here during a rush and here we sit. Our server came up at the 40 minute mark and said "your pizza is in the oven". Why it is just now in the oven is beyond me unless we were forgotten about. End of review....still waiting on one pizza. Update: someone came out at 50 minutes to say our pizza was overcooked and they had to make a new one. This amazingly was the same thing that we were told last time. Not only feeling ignored and forgotten but also being fed lies instead of pizza. Final update: Pizza arrived after a second person came to check on us. 60 minutes waiting for one large pizza. We were given a coupon for "one free dessert" for our troubles. We ate our pizza and gave our coupon to the table next to us. Charged $68 for 5 drinks, a salad and one pizza. Terrible customer service experience overall.

Xxxtra Pepperoni & Hot Honey 12" Pizza

Wow, literally the best service I have ever experienced in my life. The atmosphere is so welcoming and it's clean inside and out. Matt was our server and he explained the menu to us like you wouldn't even believe. I enjoy when people know everything about where they work and some of the pizzas he recommended were actually great. I had "The Don" 12" pizza & my date had the "Xtra Pepperoni & Hot Honey" 12" pizza and literally cooked to perfection they both tasted great. The most important part "NO SEED OILS" so you leave feeling wonderful and not terrible! Thank you again for a wonderful time, looking forward to visiting again

White Sangria

Another nice meal. Went about 8:00 not at all busy. Enjoyed their 1/2 price White Sangria which was so refreshing. Great Caesar salad with added bacon and cucumbers. The others enjoyed their Gluten Free pizza choices, even tho mine came out when theirs was almost finished Grr. "Sorry we had to remake yours"! But it was hot n delicious. The cheese pulls OMG! Yumz. Just make sure you sit away from the door. Winter cold busting through too chilly.

16" pizza 8/10

I visited Grimaldi's and I immediately felt a bit of Nostalgia looking at the Photos of NYC staples like the Statue of Liberty and replicas of subway signs. We were greeted and seated immediately. Our waitress was very sweet and attentive. We ordered a 16" pizza, half pepperoni and half sausage. The sauce was tangy and savory. The toppings were premium. I would definitely eat here again. My one negative is that we ordered a Ceasar salad starter and it wasn't brought out. We had to ask for it. We were almost done with our pizza when it finally came out. I give the overall experience 8 out of 10.

Bruschetta basic. Good but nothing amazing.

We were in town for a doctor appointment at MUSC. The food is really good, my son enjoyed it. We would definitely go back however, the service is just subpar.

GF Pesto with grilled chicken

Gotta say I've got mixed feelings about this place. But not the pizza nor the salad. If you're in it for the food and the kitsch atmosphere then you're in good hands. If you're not in it for the hurry-up and wait service with a bit of lived-in space, then get it to go! There was a bit of a wait for a table despite there being several empty spots (and yes, they apparently take reservations). The place has a family lived-in vibe, a bit New York meets Chicago underground by way of a themed "Italian" restaurant. I dug the wine bottle repurposed chandelier lighting, family-style photos and the NYC subway signs. Our server was rushy, but the manager who visited us twice during the visit was very delightful. The timing of everything was a bit off. Our salad came out almost immediately and then we waited 25 minutes for the first of our pizzas and another 10 minutes & 5 additional after that for the other two. That being said... DRINKS: They only serve beer & wine (which is totally fine because that's what most people drink with a pizza, so I get it). The white sangria was nice on the hot day. FOOD: We opted for the Caesar Salad with shaved parmesan and added Salami. The dressing was a perfect proportion of lemon zest and creaminess. Highly recommend this and add meat (grilled chicken will be my pick next time.) I would go back alone for the salad had the pizza not been so delish! I ordered the Cauliflower Crust (GF) White Pie & added bacon -- to die for! Another diner has Celiac and opted for the Gluten Free white-based with pesto and fresh mozzarella and added grilled chicken; the meat was huge and so tender. Our third diner built her own and the ingredients were super fresh; she especially loved the mushrooms. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the food. The Verdict: Order online and pick it up! If it's a nice day, there's some nearby seating under the oak trees, or the beach is a short 10-minute ride away. It's worth it for that salad and the pizza!

Complementary bread and olive oil
Catelyn H.

Not the best, not the worst.. it is a chain after all. The Brooklyn inspired pizza joint was calling my name after I grabbed some ice cream at Jeni's. Upon getting seated, our attentive server brought us some complementary bread. The bread was plain but there was olive oil on the table for dipping. My group split a pizza: the Brooklyn bridge. The pizza was good but was heavy in red sauce and a little burnt on the edges. However, the ricotta cheese saved the day. I won't be rushing back, but wouldn't be opposed to grabbing takeout in the future.

Husband and I were doing some last minute shopping and there was a delicious aroma in the air. We tried to figure out where it was coming from and found ourselves walking into the doors of Grimaldi's. When we walked in, we were seated immediately. We sat next to each other so we could watch the end of the SEC Championship playing on the TVs at the bar, but then the bigger tv went out and we only had the smaller tv available behind the bar. That was fine until a family of four was seated at a tall table between us and the far tv. Bummer! Our food came before the 4th quarter ended and our apps were SOOOO good! That balsamic vinegar was so good! The pizzas came and yum! They were slightly burned on the bottom, but that was totally fine! It was delicious and perfect! We will definitely be coming back here when in Mt. Pleasant!

Their garlic knots we had last time were pretty damn good too. We had the jerk chicken special this time which was a "goat cheese white base pizza with jerk chicken, shredded mozz, pineapple, red onions, & topped with a cilantro crème." It was probably one of my favorite pizzas I've had in a long time. Very crispy, great crust as usual, and a good balance of savory, sweetness, and brightness with the combination. Hope they keep this as a regular pie or maybe bring it back sometime! We also had their take on a Hawaiian pizza: "red sauce pizza with pineapple, ricotta, jalapeño & pepperoni" and it was fantastic--love the pickled jalapenos and again, how the pineapple/ricotta balanced everything. I think the best part of Iggy's is the dough. It's just surprisingly crispy throughout without the toppings sloughing off after a bite or anything, which I found in a few spots in town. However, this is just my review for the small pizzas--we'll have to grab a large next time to see how it holds up but so far, my favorite pizza spot in Charleston. Good shit!

We devoured both the Notorious FIG and the Knockout-the flavors were complex, and the crust was thin, crisp and perfect. Now back at our house we are debating going back for more. Right now. Service was excellent. Those folks are busy! Yet everyone seemed to work seamlessly together and always with a smile. Be good to yourself and go there. Order more than seems reasonable. Don't thank me-thank the wonderful staff and enjoy!

Their thin crust pizza is honestly some of the better pizza we've had in the area. The crust has a great texture, the pies are balanced well, and overall the flavors are consistently good. That said... I have one recurring frustration that keeps happening every single time we order. We always add fresh garlic, and every single time, you can't taste it at all. And let's be honest -- real fresh garlic, if it's actually fresh and used generously, should absolutely announce itself on a pizza. It should hit with conviction. Either it's barely being added, forgotten entirely, or it's the bland jarred stuff pretending to be fresh garlic. It's frustrating because the pizza itself is genuinely good, and this feels like such an easy fix that would take the pies to another level. We'll definitely keep coming back because good pizza in Charleston is rare, but please... let the garlic show up to the party.

The worst customer service experience I have ever had at a restaurant…read more We ordered our pizza and salad ahead of time because we were bringing our grandchildren, including our neurodivergent grandson who has difficulty waiting for food. We were trying to be considerate and avoid the long wait that had been difficult for him during a previous visit. When we arrived, there were multiple empty tables, and the hostess actually started to seat us. Then she discovered we had ordered takeout and suddenly told us we could not sit inside because it "wouldn't be fair to other people." The manager agreed. I explained why we had ordered ahead and asked them to reconsider. They supposedly contacted the owner/head of the restaurant--and the answer was still no. Their solution was for our family to sit outside in approximately 80-degree heat, even though no one was using the patio. We explained why that wasn't appropriate for our grandchildren and still they refused. A group of 5 staff stood in the back of the restaurant talking about us. I approached and asked for a refund. Instead, they eventually brought our paid-for food to us at the front of the restaurant while other customers watched, and we had to leave. Think about that: a restaurant with empty tables refused to let a family sit down and eat food they had already purchased simply because they had ordered it as takeout. We weren't trying to take a table from anyone. We weren't asking for special treatment. We were simply asking to sit down and eat our own food with our grandchildren. The food may be decent, but customer service and basic compassion matter too. After this experience, our family will never return. If you have children, particularly a child with special needs, I would strongly recommend considering another restaurant.

It was a Saturday evening and while we were told 30 to 40 minutes, it took nearly an hour. When we arrived and had to wait another 15 minutes, he gladly poured us some wine and made sure we were comfortable as we waited. The food is very reasonably priced for the quantity and quality. While not everything I would re-order (the photos are just part of a large order), what we enjoyed was fantastic. The pastas were fantastic - especially the Bolognese. The Italian sandwich was hot and loaded with meats and the fire roasted bread was cooked perfectly around it and just the right thickness. The pizzas were good but not great. I'd argue maybe a bit doughier than what I'd expect from real wood fired Neapolitan pizza. The ingredients were of high quality and everyone who ate pizza enjoyed them! This is a great spot for takeout for the family. Everyone will find something to enjoy and there will be no complaints!

Beverages are limited to beer, wine and soda. There's 4 appetizers of which three are fried and of course, meatballs in marinara ... three salads - Caesar, Caprese and House, several calzones, 3 paninis and 10 specialty pizzas, one size. We also reviewed a sheet with 7 pasta dishes which seemed odd given these same entrees are offered at Cuocco Pazzo, a few doors away. Our order was simple. We were sharing the Caprese salad ($13.49) and a Carnivoro (Meat Lovers) pizza. Our server, Grazie, advised that they were running out of pepperoni (huh?) and that other meats would be increased. Hub started with a great pour of Chianti, well priced at $7.00/glass. We both enjoyed their take on the Caprese salad - it was a perfect size for sharing. The presentation was lovely ... 8 half moon slices of fresh, seasoned mozzarella, alternating with thin slices of juicy tomato topped with a chiffonade of fresh basil ... accompanied by a nice portion of fresh mixed greens, gently tossed with a yummy balsamic vinegar. The pizza, probably between 12-13 inches was delicious, but, perhaps a bit overpriced at $21.95. The crust was thin, which is my preference. The toppings were tasty ... but, there could have been more and it could have been crisper which knocked my rating down from 5 stars to four. We ordered the mini cannoli to go. They were tasty, but overpriced at $6.00, considering their size. Our server was friendly and attentive. We will definitely be back. I love a panini and definitely want to share the Caesar!

The table bussers were constantly keeping everything clean and organized without ever being intrusive. The food was incredible from start to finish. The fresh, warm bread was absolutely insane and worth the visit by itself. We ordered the chicken parmesan, margarita pizza, lasagna, and fettuccine Alfredo with chicken. Every dish was excellent, and the portions were huge. I ended up splitting the chicken parmesan, and it was still more than enough food. The fact that every entrée came with a fresh salad added even more value to an already generous meal. One of my favorite little touches was having bottles of water on the table. It made it easy to refill our glasses whenever we wanted without waiting for someone to come by. The décor, lighting, music, and overall ambiance were all spot on, creating the perfect atmosphere for a relaxing Italian dinner. Amalfi's has officially become our new favorite Italian restaurant.
