Just had dinner at Grillsmith. Loved it! Everyone there is so nice and very professional. Christine the GM checked in on us to make sure we were happy and the other managers were equally nice. We particularly loved our bartender Diana. She knows her stuff and is an absolute sweetheart. We all had steaks whether ribeye or filet. Perfectly cooked and amazing flavor. They told us about the farm in Minnesota where there meats are from and they are wet aged for 40 days. Sides were great as well. I recommend the jalapeno mac and cheese. The bananas foster is just sick. So good! I would highly recommend this place for locals, but I know the snowbirds will find it anyway. read more

Came to Friends and Family night and again last night. Everything was awesome, both times. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Beautiful, inviting interior. Food presented beautifully and cooked from scratch. Had the filet mignon with a port wine reduction. Cooked perfectly with a great sauce, fresh sautéed spinach, cauliflower mash, and fantastic key lime pie. Perfect meal! Prices are very reasonable. Second night was just as fantastic as the first. We came to Grillsmith for brunch on Saturday because we had had a great experience with the evening crew during the week. First, I'd like to say the food was great both times, but the experience was ruined due to the service on Saturday. Our waitress was nice, but when we asked for our bottomless mimosas to just a little less sweet, not adding more champagne, but just a little less juice, we got such attitude, stinkeye, and such resistance, that I, the lover of mimosas, just got beer.... what a disappointment!! The bartender was giving attitude, and was just rude. I have never given a review before, but I had to share, because if the Grillsmith can't even satisfy the customer's needs, then what good is it to go out to have an couple's brunch out? I would like to try it again when Grillsmith customers can ask for what they would like and not get such resisitance. read more

I will start off by saying that I have been to Grillsmith close to every day since they opened on August 26th!! I LOVE this place!! I usually sit up at the bar and I have fallen in love with the bartenders! Ryan, Diana, Miriam & Sierra are the best. Ryan & Diana have been there from the start and I feel like we are old friends. They are super attentive and knowledgeable. The food is excellent! I really love the Southwestern salad, Thai noodles, their various flatbreads and I have had the pub pretzels probably more than I should. My husband loves the burger and has had excellent steaks. I even invited one of the bartenders and a server to my home for Christmas!! I feel I am part of the family there and they are a part of mine! read more

Let me start this review by saying I really like this restaurant and have been here several times. This was a bad visit. Quoted time to be seated was accurate...ok fine, no problem. Server greeted us promptly..ok fine. It went downhill after that. They never brought my salad, never refilled water-even though we asked twice-my dinner was not great, my companions even worse (Salmon was like a brick that had sat and was re-heated) and my dessert -that I got to go- had what I can only imagine were tiny pieces of eggshells in it -- but that was the best part of the meal. We didn't see our server for a very long time during the meal....now I realize they are very busy and most likely short staffed as all businesses currently are. I accept that and certainly not that person's fault. The food being what it was is not acceptable. I will most likely give this place another try at a lunch hour. read more

I could go on and on telling you what i ate and how great it was but i am telling you that you need to try this for yourself. You can taste the freshness and quality in every bite of food. We have been lucky enough to have joe as our server several times now, he is hands down the best server I have ever had at a restaurant. Not only is he very attentive the knowledge he has on the menue is shocking. You can ask him anything and he can go into detail even telling you what cattle company they use and how they have fresh caught short trip fish from the gulf. Our favorite spot in SRQ. Food is unlike any other, every dish is made from scratch and leaves you wanting more. Service is impeccable, Moe was a fantastic waiter, and General Manager Kristine was extremely pleasant and knowledgeable about the companies history and it's menu! Went there 12/1 at 7:45PM. Service was awful. Our gay waiter was really creepy. Food was tasteless. The tomato bisque soup was bland. Two orders of flatbread were both bland and cold. Last week was our first visit to Grillsmith and we were not disappointed! I selected the salmon, which is probably the best I've had in Sarasota. I do wish there was more than one sauce option, as I don't care for pepper, but it's served on the side so it wasn't a problem. My husband also raved about his ribeye, which was cooked perfectly. I'm rating 4 stars instead of 5 because our dinners came out before we finished our salads and that's a personal pet peeve of mine - not enough to prevent a return visit though! I am only giving this restaurant two stars because we encountered so many issues with our party of six. We were greeted by a very nice group of people upon entering, and immediately seated. Then it seemed to go downhill. My husband's drink came in a cracked glass that was actually splintering on the table and it took quite awhile to get to our drinks. We ordered a pretzel appetizer that arrived burnt, however they immediately replaced it with another well done pretzel. I ordered the pork chop marsala that was extremely tough to cut and eat. The marsala was a piece of melted cheese with cooked mushrooms in it. Another person ordered the chicken dinner, and it too was tough to cut and extremely salty. The other diners with us said their dinners were ok. Our checks were all messed up, and that took a long time resolve. We spent two hours there, most of it spent waiting. With all of that being said, this was their first Friday night after opening, and they were extremely busy so we will probably try it again in a few months after they have had some time to fix the issues. read more
