The food and service were amazing. We did not have reservations but they seated us right away at the last by bar. A nice bottle of wine, olives, tomato toast, anchovies in olive oil, chicken and oxtail croquettes, Iberia pork, and a custard with strawberries was under 80 euros.

Amazingly friendly service! Super fresh fish! Great menu suggestions! Miss Ezekiel, but the remaining staff is incredible!

Nice spot, mostly bar seating for groups of 2-4. Seafood-focused and everything here tastes very fresh. Got the scallops, calamari, cod fritters, and ham sampler platter. The fried calamari and fried cod fritters were only lightly coated in batter and tasted good. Spot is very lively on a Friday, with most seaters around us speaking American and British English. Good assortment of wines. Nice tapas spot!

This place is fantastic! I am so very glad we visited. Food: Delicious! We had the pork sandwich which had some gooey, garlicky sauce on it (to be honest though, the pork wasn't great - not flavored very well and a bit grey), and the iberico ham on french fries which was amazing! We also shared manchego cheese, which was quite good on top of the tomato bread (not sure if that was how it was meant to be eaten, but it worked!) and a ceviche that was fresh and beautifully plated. Also, the sangria is a must! I don't really enjoy alcohol but I indulged in the sangria as it was too delicious to refuse. Atmosphere: Lovely! Vintage-y, cozy, and very inviting. There was a nice seafood bar, though we were seated in this funny little room for two. This place can accommodate both small and larger parties, as it is very spacious. Service: Very attentive, friendly, and helpful in explaining menu items that were foreign to us.

Food was good. Service wasn't the most friendly or attentive although we were 2 of 10 people there.

Some meals stay with you forever, and this was one of them…read more The food here was, without question, some of the best I've ever had. The foie gras was absolutely unforgettable--rich, delicate, and simply to die for. The sangria was equally exceptional, fresh, balanced, and dangerously delicious. But what makes this place truly special is something that can't be captured on a menu. The atmosphere, the warmth, the way time seems to slow down... words simply can't do it justice. If you're visiting Barcelona, don't just come here for dinner. Come here to fall in love with the food, the city, the moment, or maybe even someone sitting across the table. An experience I'll never forget.

We had read reviews that the food scene…read moreextended well into the night, so we decided that even though it was 10:30pm, we would still walk over to Tapeo and see if we had any luck getting seating. Well, the restaurant was cute and cozy with a great ambiance. With luck on our side, we found two seats at the bar and quickly ordered drinks. We ordered a pitcher of the sangria (because why not?). The sangria was delicious, refreshing, and made to order. It was definitely more authentic than what we're getting in America. We ordered the patatas bravas, tempura asparagus, the octopus, and the steak. It all came out as it became available. We couldn't decide what our favorite was, to be honest. We ordered an ice cream sandwich for dessert and quickly requested our bill. We didn't want to hold the staff up as we noticed they were cleaning the establishment and people were finishing up. Overall, what a great experience for our first meal in Barcelona! Cute and hidden gem.

We wanted something that felt more local and authentic and this place delivered. We stumbled in looking for a light lunch and a glass of wine. There were locals dining in the front room, no gimmicky photos outside, and it immediately felt like a good choice. We grabbed one of the barrel tables, and our server Francisco asked if we trusted him. Of course we said yes - and I'm so glad we did. He brought us a white wine I had never heard of, and it was excellent. Then he brought us a cheese to try that I didn't think I was going to like, but it was great too. I completely forgot to take photos before we started eating, so all I have is the aftermath - which probably says everything. The chicken wings were incredible and surprisingly boneless, which made them easy to eat. The tuna tartare was excellent, and we also had the tomato bread and olives. Super casual, great service, and the best food we've had so far in Barcelona. Exactly the kind of place we were hoping to find. Highly recommend.

All of the wines by the glass can be tasted in flights or just by the glass. We got deep into the list by having a red and white pairing and by trying 2 of the cavas. We learned of the flights after ordering the cavas. Needless to say we drank a good amount. Our sever Marie was so knowledgeable about the Spanish grapes and growing regions. As a Dutch ex pat she was so interesting to talk to and with. Not only did we talk about wine but also urban planning and social issues in our hike countries. One doesn't always get that with wine. The menu is extremely creative and also set up to be eaten as bites or shares and are paired with the wines. Be sure to try the foie gras and the short ribs. Everything on the menu sounded so delicious. If we didn't have a dinner reservation we would have eaten a lot more. The space is so lovely, modern, well lit and inviting. Any of the bottles on their wine list can be purchased as a discount, so of course we did. Highly recommend.

Though I don't think it is possible to go wrong with any of the brunch wine pairing! They all look amazing and I can't wait to come back and try a new pairing. Lastly, I am usually more of an introvert in a public place, but I was fascinated by the origin story of La Catalista. If you get a moment to talk to the owner, do it! There are life lessons that are as inspiring as the wine.

Charming Atmosphere, but Disappointing Anniversary Dinner…read more We chose La Vinateria del Call for our anniversary dinner while staying in Barcelona. After a nine-hour flight and an afternoon nap, we were hungry and didn't want to wait until the usual Spanish dinner hour. We were looking for a relaxed tapas restaurant with rustic charm, within walking distance of our hotel since it was pouring rain. After researching our options online, we chose this restaurant because it opened at 6 p.m. and its beautiful stone walls looked perfect for the cozy atmosphere we wanted. Unfortunately, the experience fell short of our expectations. When we arrived shortly after opening, there were only three couples in the entire restaurant. Despite specifically asking to sit on the other side, we were seated near the bar. Both sides eventually filled up by the time we left, but it was disappointing that our request wasn't accommodated when the restaurant was practically empty. The service was good, and our waiter was pleasant. However, he was also serving tables on the other side, so we felt we had to decide what to order quickly whenever he appeared in our section. The food was a mixed bag. The chorizo was the best dish we ordered. The octopus was bland, and the ham croquettes surprisingly seemed to have no ham in them. The oxtails didn't make up for the other disappointments. The rustic stone interior was lovely, and the early opening time was convenient, but the food and seating experience made this a disappointing choice for our anniversary dinner. In hindsight, we wish we had waited for the restaurant at our hotel to open. After experiencing the better service and more upscale menu there, we regretted not dining at the hotel instead.
