I was headed towards Baso but saw this long line and jumped in it impulsively. I got the pork adobo with rice/pancit and 1 pork adobo skewers for $12 and 6" Turon for $2. The pork adobo portion was a bit small but decent The skewer was overwhelmed by the sauce that was too sweet for my liking. The Turon was decent! Overall, like other reviews say, very much food court food that is not worth the wait.

I was skeptical about Grill City because it was hard to find. It's on the map. But being inside of Seafood City Supermarket, they need signs outside of this building. The place is so popular on social media. Even my friend who has never had Filipino food wanted to try it. He said, just grab a plate and go to the serving line. Ok. The "just" was an overstatement. I came here during a weekend day and the line was wrapped around the food court to the supermarket entrance. The menu is so far away and small. When I saw that, it immediately turned me off. This restaurant has been open for almost a year. If they haven't worked the kinks by now, there is something wrong with it. I actually ate here once. We came here during the Wednesday commute hour. There were a few people eating and no line. We took our time talking to the employees about the dishes. I am only familiar with few Filipino dishes without help of Google Translate or friends helping. I ordered Pancit Palabok ($5.99) and Pork Adobo (This was my final month consuming pork). He got 2 Grilled Squids and a pound of Salt & Pepper Shrimps. Well, he had better foodie adventure than me. Food was fresh and tasty. Again, I am not familiar with Filipino food. I can't compare with others. It's just a hot deli within a chained supermarket.

Grill City located in the food court of Seafood City grocery store had a special. The special was buy two grill plate and get the third one free. So my wife decided to get the special and eat one plate there for lunch, then take the other two plates home for dinner. Each grill plate contained a grill protein of your choice with white rice or grilled protein of your choice with half white rice and half noodles. The cost was $8.99 per plate with the exception of grilled fish which costed $13.99. My wife ordered pork adobo skewer plate, pork belly plate, and fish plate. In addition, the brown sugar syrup soft tofu desert was only $2 with the puchase of any grilled plate. All three plates tasted good. The amount of foods were about right for the price since one plate was free. The sofe tofu desert was delicious, definitely for anyone that loves sweet tofu desert. Counter employees were friendly and quick. They were very patient with my wife's questions. We will return for a quick meal if we are in the area.

Went to visit this place and the line was so long. Not only did we have to sign up so we can be in the queue. After 30mins we got a text and stand in queue. It was a busy day for grill city and we enjoyed our time standing and watching them grilling those bbq. The food tasted good and we will definitely be back.

As a Filipina I'm happy to see more Filipino restaurants popping up in the Greater Houston area. Grill City is located inside Seafood City supermarket and operates like a food court kiosk. It's been open for a few months now and the lines are still long especially during peak hours so expect to wait. My friend and I came Sunday afternoon and waited in line for about 30 minutes. One thing I will say is that the prices for their combos are reasonable considering they don't skimp on their portions at all. We each ordered the 2 item value meal which gets you a main entree, white rice, and a "side" which is a small portion of their other dishes. Some of the more specialty items have an additional upcharge but still reasonable again because of the portion. I ordered the 2 item plate with pork bbq and kare kare. This was my first time dining here so I wanted to try other items and ordered them a la carte. I ordered their grilled tilapia and the lumpiang Shanghai. I also ordered calamansi juice for my drink. The pork bbq was delicious! It's already marinated when it's grilled but they dip it in the sauce again before serving it for added flavor. I'd give the kare kare a 3.5/5 but I'm biased because I don't think anyone can top my mom's version. I'm also not a fan of tripe in my kare kare. The tilapia was good on its own but I like dipping it in a soy sauce and vinegar mixture. Make sure to ask for sauces at the end! I'd give the lumpia a 4/5. It's hard to really mess up lumpia but I think the pork mixture needed just a bit more seasoning. My friend ordered the grilled pompano, palabok, and laing. I sampled the palabok and laing and they were both pretty good though I think the laing needed more spice to represent the true laing from Bohol. I definitely ordered way too much food and had to take most of it home but that's why I think what you get is worth what you pay for. Next time I come here with a bigger party I'll definitely order the party pack because it seems like an even better deal. I'll also have to try the desserts too since I didn't have room in my stomach this time around.

BBQ pork 2/5 Palabok 4/5 Chicken bbq 3/5 Grilled pork liempo 3/5 Grilled Tilapia 5/5 Turon 5/5 Halo halo 5/5 The highlight of my meal had to be the grilled Tilapia. It was tender and juicy and tasty on its own. It came with a lemon juice dip and it instantly elevated it to a 6/5. The only thing to be aware is that it does come as a whole fish with all the bones, so you just have to be careful with it. The desserts are also AMAZING! The halo halo was flavorful with varies of different surprises as you eat and turon is not too sweet (in a good way) and The low light was the pork bbq and to some degree chicken bbq. It tastes overcooked and is a little too chewy for my liking. The sauce is the only saving grace but it also covers up the flavor of the meat, so much that I can't really taste the difference between the two. The pork liempo also tasted a little flavorless compared to other dishes. I came here on opening week and was greeted with a 1.5 hour wait. I probably wouldn't wait again for this good but ultimately mixed experience. But the grocery store it is attached to has plenty of great stuff, and if there is no line I'll definitely grab some of the desserts after my shopping session!

Looking for bomb Filipino food? Go here! Must haves are the bbq sticks (chicken and pork), adobo, pancit palabok, lumpia and halo halo. The line gets pretty long especially around noon so come a little earlier or later to beat the lunch rush. If you're ordering halo halo be prepared to wait- you won't regret it. It's so good!!! I really enjoyed this place. Lots of seating and great customer service. Will be coming back.

Update to my previous review: I finally made it in line early enough to get a good spot. Maybe about a 10 minute wait. Was it worth it? I could've waited an hour and it would still be worth it. This food is so heavenly delicious! My mouth was already watering as I stood in line watching the meat being grilled to perfection and as I got closer to the food, my head was spinning trying to narrow down what I should choose. Since it was 9 am, I decided to get a breakfast plate, the Grilled Silog value meal with two meats, garlic rice and two eggs. For the two meats I bordered longanisa and corned beef hash. I also ordered a foot long turon and a pound of chicharron. Oooohweee! Everything tastes so good and my belly feels like a stuffed pig. No complaints. I couldn't even finish everything, so I took some to go. My advice? Come soon and come hungry! Why are you still reading this review? Go get in line now! Disclaimer*** I did not eat here yet. I tried! I really tried!! The line was outrageous!!! I'm not mad at them. The food looks and smells delicious. Located inside of Seafood City Grocery Store. I came for lunch...line out the door. Came back at 2:30 pm. Line still out the door! The atmosphere is vibrant. Lots of families eating and enjoying themselves. Lots of conversation in the air. Very friendly and communal vibe. I'll be back soon. Hope I can get there early and find a good spot in line.

Since it opened in December, the line has been long so I never lined up. This time I want at 11 am on Saturday and it took 30 minutes total from waiting to completing my order. We ordered the mixed platter, grilled squid, and ginataang langka (green jackfruit in coconut milk). All of it was delicious. I'll come back to try their other food, especially the footling turon (banana egg roll) and halo halo (shaved ice with milk and different fillings).

We went to Grill City the first weekend it was open, the line was super long, and we had to wait an hour before ordering. The establishment is run like a food court, where you get in line, pick up your food, pay and choose your own table to dine at. We watched them grill the meats, and it did not seem very sanitary. Once we were next in line to order, the staff skipped us and helped the people behind us, thus creating more chaos and waiting for everyone. The pork skewer was well marinated and tender, but the noodles were lackluster. I enjoyed the halo halo overload and the amount of ingredients they include. There was a ton of tables to dine at. Overall, the food was decent, but I would not go again if the line is still super long and the staff is not trained on how to effectively manage a line of customers.

I was so excited to see Seafood City in the Houston area after hearing so many rave reviews from friends and family who drive 4 hours to the Chicago location from Michigan. Our experience was a bit of a letdown, but here's hoping things will get better. First of all, the place is incredibly busy: when you walk in, you immediately see the long line just to get your food. This would be ok if the wait time truly was due to exceptional food and overwhelming demand against otherwise efficient service. Alas that was simply not the case here. 1) So, you don't get in line when you arrive; you check in, and only when you receive a text much later do you actually get in line. 2) The line is slow-moving for one reason: the clueless and slow-as-molasses serving team exercised zero organizational skills. Some were crowded in one section of the serving counter, leaving just one person to cover the later stations alone. 3) You end up with several people bottlenecking at the front because most of the crew is standing around at the back with people who have already been helped. The food? We ordered several classics: pork liempo, pork adobo, kare kare, pancit palabok, longaniza, fried chicken skin, fried lumpia. The 2 standouts were the chicken skin and the adobo. The chicken skin is a DREAM COME TRUE, and is literally reason enough to return, because I just don't know where else you'd go to get this! Flavorful, crispy, pieces of real chicken skin... it is perfection. The adobo had a wonderful flavor that brought me back to some wonderful childhood memories of many Filipino parties and picnics. The quail eggs were a lovely addition. The rest of the dishes were just okay. We've had just as good or better at Houston Filipino restaurants that have actual dining rooms with actual plates and silverware that allow you to dine without the hassle of the loooooooooong and annoying wait-time. Will we be back? I will probably try to find a less busy day/time to go back... and only for that chicken skin. It's that good ;)

Fast forward...I parked in front, and I swear it felt like there was a halo over the restaurant name. Okay, maybe I'm being dramatic... but if you've been craving a place for a year, you'd understand. Walking in, the décor was warm and inviting. My servers, Rhiley, Hailey and Adrian weresuch a pleasant surprise. Super welcoming, shared a bit of the restaurant's history, and made the whole experience feel personal. The vibe reminded me of the hangout spots my little brother and I used to go to comfortable, familiar, and full of heart. Now, the food...I knew I was getting a burger... but deciding which one? Not easy. They've got multiple options, and yes...burgers with rice combos (Filipino-approved ). I went with the Jaboi Burger: Siopao bun, Wagyu patty, medium rare, Sauce that tied everything together beautifully...I also ordered the garlic fries and sampled their sauces. My favorites? The mini kamayan arrived mostly lukewarm, and several of the meats were dry.
