This Tavern has a myriad of fresh beer samples using the digital beer dispensers. You can pour a pint or make your own beer flight. The selections were great. The griffin cocktail was a very well made bourbon based cocktail. It's a must try for bourbon mixology lovers. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The specialty foods are English based like Shepard pie, Fish&Chips, etc. it was good and we loved the French onion soup and fish&chips. The interior is wide and ceilings are high. Pretty cool self serve beer, haven't been to one of these before pretty ferda try it out. Food was decent and the waitress was super chill. I like they've got a bunch of different sized glasses so you can pour what you'd like and try a bunch of stuff. Beer wall! Need I say more? Plus the cocktails are well crafted; you won't go thirsty here. The nachos are huge and worth sharing. I don't think I've ever had white beans in my nachos, but they add a nice, creamy element. The fish and chips have a good crunch and come with well seasoned fries and house made tartar, so I do think they're some of the best in town. It's a fun spot downtown worth checking out! read more

My sister and I were out downtown and found out the rest of our family was also downtown eating here. We surprised them and came to say hi! We ended up sitting and having a drink with them. My family said the food was fine, the drinks were super exciting, and the atmosphere was... confusing. It's like a sports bar, but then there is also a bookshelf with older books... I'm not sure what they are going for. The reason I am giving such a low review is because when they brought my family their checks, they tacked on 20% gratuity for there being 8 or more people at the table. Before my sister and I surprised them, they were a party of six. So, it was because we sat and had one drink with them that it became a party of 8 with automatic gratuity. What's irritating about this is that our family had already ordered, gotten their food and drinks, and finished eating by the time we showed up. So, they were basically done. We got there and each ordered ONE drink. Adding automatic gratuity for a large party in this situation is ridiculous. I probably won't go back to try anything else. read more

We came down downtown for a concert and noticed this place just seemed to have popped up! First, this place is in an upstanding location - right on top of the Gilded Unicorn! Second, there is a beer wall, and you pay by the ounce. There are 20 taps, with an eclectic mix of light beers, IPAs, Ciders, and even wine. We were greeted by a board of happy people who were eager for us to come in and try this place. Our server was friendly, and even though she wasn't a drink she was able to recommend a great drink (Red Dragon) to my wife. Now, on to the food. I started with a cup of their Banger Cheddar soup, and it was unctuous and heavy on cheese flavor. Great start. My wife ordered the Hot Honey Chicken Sandwich (messy) with fries and I ordered the Western Burger. Lemme say that these are the best fries, bar none, n Spokane. Thick, hot, and perfectly crispy and seasoned. The chicken is tender and full Of flavor, and the burger, which is topped with a tremendous huckleberry BBQ sauce, is top notch. Dropped by to try out the new occupant. The atmosphere was bright, busy, and chatty. I tried out the self-serve beer wall immediately. The waiter claimed the fish and chips were "the best" in Spokane. A bold claim. The service was prompt and pleasant. I'm a regular at GT - they have a fab happy hour and the bartenders are always great, fun and conversational. Rose in particular is my favorite - top notch. She knows exactly what I want when I walk in the door and I've barely had a chance to sit down before she's placing my preferred IPA in front of me. She's super personable and remembers our previous conversations each time I come in. Our server was so great and patient as we asked to move to a booth after she already sat us. They have a perfect separate room behind a book case for large parties! We had reservations 1 hour and 45 minutes prior to a concert that was only 2 blocks away. I can't review the food because we didn't get it all before the event we were attending. The 4 staff members that were present were totally overwhelmed. The staff that were present were very kind and doing the very best they could with the crowd they had. If you attend an event at the Fox or Bing that offers a dinner with it I do not advise you to purchase it if the establishment is the Griffin Tavern. Very, very poor management. 5 Stars for the staff! 0 stars for management. Can't rate the food since we never received it all before our event. Took 30 minutes just to get a drink. read more

I stay at the Montvale every time I visit. Glad to see this place opened up right next door. I had the chicken wings with Huckleberry BBQ. Outstanding, crispy, and the sauce was delicious. Beer wall had good selection and the service was friendly. Big screen tv so nice place to watch a game but also can get a table and hang out with your friends. Lots of bar seats. Really disappointed with the RUDE greeting-three employees at the hostess desk-one talking and didn't stop when we came in, one with bad highlights gave us a withering dirty look (WTF?) and a third who finally acknowledged we were there but not before I had to ask if we should just leave.
