We came down downtown for a concert and noticed this place just seemed to have popped up! First, this place is in an upstanding location - right on top of the Gilded Unicorn! Second, there is a beer wall, and you pay by the ounce. There are 20 taps, with an eclectic mix of light beers, IPAs, Ciders, and even wine. We were greeted by a board of happy people who were eager for us to come in and try this place. Our server was friendly, and even though she wasn't a drink she was able to recommend a great drink (Red Dragon) to my wife. Now, on to the food. I started with a cup of their Banger Cheddar soup, and it was unctuous and heavy on cheese flavor. Great start. My wife ordered the Hot Honey Chicken Sandwich (messy) with fries and I ordered the Western Burger. Lemme say that these are the best fries, bar none, n Spokane. Thick, hot, and perfectly crispy and seasoned. The chicken is tender and full Of flavor, and the burger, which is topped with a tremendous huckleberry BBQ sauce, is top notch. Do yourself a favor and check this joint out!

Beer wall, good food, arcade games, cocktails, sports on, great service, just a cool place. Smaller menu but some of the best fish and chips we've had in a long time!

Dropped by to try out the new occupant. The atmosphere was bright, busy, and chatty. I tried out the self-serve beer wall immediately. The waiter claimed the fish and chips were "the best" in Spokane. A bold claim. The service was prompt and pleasant. The fish and chips were very good and quite generous, not so sure about the "best" though. It was a pleasant experience for a "first" visit. We will likely be back! Welcome, Griffin Taven!

Griffin Tavern - Fish and Chips Review Griffin Tavern delivers an excellent dining experience with a warm and inviting atmosphere and service that goes above and beyond. From the moment you walk in, you feel welcomed and well taken care of. I ordered the fish and chips, and it did not disappoint. The portion of fish--likely cod--was generous, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. For those who enjoy a crunchier bite, I highly recommend asking for it to be cooked extra crispy--it takes the dish to the next level. The French fries deserve their own spotlight. They were crisp, golden, and quite possibly the best I've ever had--truly addictive. The coleslaw, while decent, seemed to be more of an afterthought and likely not made from scratch. Overall, Griffin Tavern nails the essentials of an upscale gastro pub With phenomenal service, a great vibe, and fries that will have you coming back for more, it's definitely worth a visit.

Honestly, Wooden City really lives up to its hype. It's an upscale spot right in downtown Spokane,…read morebut still feels warm and lively instead of overly formal. Definitely one of the best-quality restaurants in the city, where every dish was thoughtfully made and packed with flavor. What we ordered: Starters: - Spring Salad: Super fresh and well-balanced. The snap peas were crisp, with strawberries added for sweetness, and the goat cheese + pistachios gave it a creamy, nutty contrast. The lemon & tarragon vinaigrette tied everything together with a light, herby flavor. - Jerk Cauliflower: Crunchy cauliflower with Caribbean spices with a creamy jerk sauce, good as a side Appetizers: - Peel 'n' Eat Shrimp: Really juicy and spicy from the Cajun spice. There's butter to dip in but I found it too greasy and prefer lemon instead. - Blistered Hungarian Peppers: Smoky pepper with some sweetness and savory from the sausage and cheddar. Served with a toasted focaccia that soak up all the sauce. Main dishes: - Chicken Schnitzel: One of the must-orders. Crispy, golden breading, super tender inside. The lemon & caper butter sauce added acidity and richness that elevated the whole dish. Yoy have to order extra because it's never enough for the table. Yes, it's that good. - Marbled Duroc Pork Chop: Another favorite . Juicy and tender, with 'nduja salsa brava bringing a spicy depth, while lemon tahini and marcona almonds added creaminess and crunch. I always missed tasting this dish like my first time - Beet Ravioli: Earthy and slightly sweet flavor, nice texture but I hate goat cheese so I'm not really a fan of this dish - Pesto Bacon Pizza: Delicious crunch, loved the combo of mozzarella and gorgonzola, kind of creamy with a bit of funk. Balsamic do help balance and gave it a sweet tangy flavor, or else it would be too heavy for me (yes, not a pizza fan) Drinks & Dessert - Not Mai Tai mocktail: very aesthetically looking drink, but a bit too sweet to my liking - Apple crisp: cozy and warm, with baked apple & pecan crumble and served with vanilla ice cream on top. Delicious ice cream. - Pumpkin cheesecake: My 3rd favorite of the night, I still dream about it!! Rich, smooth, and perfectly spiced, you shouldn't skip this!!! That said, I do have to take away a couple points for timing. Our foods took 45 mins to come out even though I had reservations and note the menu items via the email, and the wait time between each dish was also... very confusing. It broke the flow of our meal. But once the food hit the table, it was hard to stay mad, so I forgave them.

I feel like I just went to a dress rehearsal about a play about a group of friends who got together…read moreand said "How about we open a restaurant? That would be fun!" Tonight was just so strange. First, I had no idea who was an employee. There were two girls that were going around together over and over, they kept stopping at tables so I think they worked there...but they never had anything in their hands. Our server seemed to keep forgetting we were there. Or just forgetting she was employed in general. Seriously just not with it. She was very nice...when she remembered we were there. I will say the pizza crust tasted amazing. So many places that serve pizza think of the crust as just something to put toppings on, but this had great flavor. Sadly, it was rolled too thin and said toppings made it somewhat soggy. Caesar salad was ok. Romaine was really fresh and crisp and the homemade croutons were still a little warm. Very good. However, the dressing was rather bland. And when I asked for pepper for it, our waitress first had it in her head that I expected some kind of peppers on my salad. When she finally understood I meant black pepper, she went away. Eventually she returned. Not with a pepper grinder or a shaker, but a sauce bowl that had about 3 tablespoons of black pepper in it. I wouldn't use that much pepper if I cooked for myself for a week and used it with every dish. Had to ask for knives for some of people's meals. I will say the spicy lamb rigatoni was amazing, pasta just right and the sauce and flavor was peak. I am just not sure what to say, other than this was the strangest and most disorganized dining experience I have ever had. I think if a grown up showed up and brought the kids into line, this place would be amazing. Also, for what we paid, I expected to be wowed, not left wondering what I just experienced.

My goodness was all the food absolutely delicious. I can't recommend this place more. The pretzels there are so unique and delicious. Best pretzels ever. Had there shrimp tacos that was a flavor melody I wasn't expecting and it left me wanting more. Finally the strawberry oat bar was simply the best tasting thing I've had in a while and it melted in your mouth. Soooooo amazing! The ambience was a bit loud as it is a small space but I wouldn't want it to be any bigger other wise you would be able to see the amazing chef's in the kitchen whipping up your food. Over all this place is definitely worth checking out and I will be back soon!

We went to Cascadia Public House on a Sunday with pretty high expectations after reading so many…read moregood reviews, but unfortunately it was a letdown from start to finish. The biggest issue right away was how long the food took. It felt like we were waiting forever, and by the time it finally came out, it definitely didn't feel worth it. We started with the pretzel, which honestly was nothing like a pretzel. It tasted more like glorified fried dough and didn't have that classic pretzel texture or flavor at all. For drinks, mine was way too strong and just didn't taste good. It wasn't balanced at all and ended up being hard to even enjoy. For my main, I ordered the Cascadia burger medium, but it came out clearly well done and overcooked. On top of that, the egg on it was severely undercooked.. some of the whites were still clear and slimy, which completely ruined it for me. I had also heard good things about the mac and cheese, so I gave it a try, but that was another disappointment. It was bland and runny, and even after adding salt and pepper, it still had no real flavor. My husband ordered the chicken sandwich, which wasn't terrible, but it was definitely on the dry side. They were also out of fries, so he had to get fruit instead, which was kind of disappointing. Overall, the food took way too long, the quality didn't match the price, and the experience just didn't live up to the hype at all. Unfortunately, we won't be returning.

When we arrived, the atmosphere felt warm and welcoming, and the guy at the bar was genuinely friendly and helpful, which always makes a difference. The food prep was impressively fast, and everything was packaged neatly and thoughtfully for takeout. We started with the pretzel, which was solid, but the real standout was the mustard--super unique with a tangy, spicy, almost wasabi-like kick that made it memorable. For mains, the curry dish hit a great balance--flavorful without being overpowering or too mild. And the biggest endorsement came from my daughter, who ordered the kids pasta with marinara and added chicken--she declared it the "best spaghetti she's ever had!" (Shh... don't tell mom.) Overall, great service, tasty food, and a welcoming vibe. The only reason it's not a full 5 stars is I'd love to explore more of the menu next time--but based on this visit, we'll definitely be back.
