The lake area with the little church in the background is a nice touch, makes it feel more relaxing and not just your typical park. Good walking paths, plenty of grass, and nice spots to just sit and chill. Everything felt well kept and safe, which is a big plus when you're bringing kids. Plenty of room so it didn't feel overcrowded either. Only thing watch out for duck poop on the walkways and grass, especially near the water. Overall, great spot for families. Definitely coming back

The 84-acre park has been serving the community for almost 50 years, providing tennis courts, a skatepark, playgrounds, exercise equipment, public pool, indoor courts, 2 fishing lakes, basketball courts, BBQ/picnic areas & the Cerritos Sports Complex. For my recollection, my first acquaintance with Don Knabe Park came by way of participating in the Annual Youth Fishing Derby. Kids are given the opportunity to compete with other registrants to catch the largest catfish. Bait is provided, and fishing tackle is first come, first served basis. As a teenager, I became more interested in fishing, and tried my hand at largemouth bass fishing w/ lures. On my first outing, a caught a decent-sized bass. I've seen much larger sized bass caught, too. The CA Dept. of Fish & Game stocks the lakes with rainbow trout (colder months) & channel catfish (warmer months). For trout, I've been lucky using small spoons, while catfish is simply bait & wait with smelly bait of choice. For such a large park, the parking is absolutely free! Which, along with proximity, is why I frequent Don Knabe Park over others. One complaint I have, is there can be duck & other waterfowl landmines (aka poop) all over the concrete walkways next to the lakes, if the groundskeepers aren't timely at keeping up with the power washing to clear the walkways out. Cerritos' own Central Park, Don Knabe Community Regional Park is an out of doors haven, for those looking to increase their daily steps, play their sport of choice, or wet a line and see if the fish are biting. It's a great resource which I take full advantage of, and hope to continue visiting for many more years to come. Highly recommend!

We did our Cub Scout bridging here and it worked out perfectly! A playground, sitting area, water, and bathroom near by, along with enough room to have all of our events spread out without impeding any else's experience. They took over a giant covered outdoor area with a ton of picnic tables, clean and open and perfect for a large party (I assume they had to rent this). I've been to a lot of parks over the years, and most of them don't have comparable event spaces. The one disadvantage was that we were far away from the playground, much to the chagrin of my three-year-old, who kept demanding to leave the party in favor of the play structure he saw in the distance. Liberty Park is just a huge place with several different zones. We even switched parking lots once we got there and figured out where the actual party was, on the Camp Liberty side of the park. The party was really nice, pleasant and relaxing. We had lunch, watched the dohl ceremonies (he grabbed the stethoscope, securing his future as a doctor), took pictures, and hung out with family. Then, because I'm not a monster, I took my boy to the playground. It was a great playground, well maintained and pretty quiet on a Saturday afternoon. Fewer kids, in fact, than teenagers working out and playing loud music nearby. I'm not complaining. In fact, my child was fascinated by their music and got as much entertainment from their speakers as he did from the play structure. I don't live anywhere near Cerritos, but if I did, I'd make good use of Liberty Park. What a lovely neighborhood resource, for both special events and everyday recreation.

Highly recommend these courts for pickleball too because there are a lot of courts, friendly players and it's not too advanced of play. Been coming for the last three months and I see the same players all the time. Only downside of playing pickleball here is that the courts close at like 8pm-8:30pm which is actually atrocious. I forget exactly. When I run to the restroom from the tennis/pickleball area, which looks exactly like your average park restroom. I see people on the playground and other pickleball courts (3 in the middle) (2 on side). The track is crowded too! The parking does get full in the evening so you may need to park on the street.

There's a good sized green area as well with a covered bench areas spread throughout. There's also a walking path with a small exercise machine area along the way. That's all they said..."just come the next day". All that they said. So we came the next day and an hour before closing time because that's also what it says on the information pamphlet. We came the next day. They said that the shelter we wanted was already taken because it was "first come first serve"...we weren't given that information!!! We were never told that it was first COME FIRST SERVE. All they said was that "we can come tomorrow", if we were given that information then OF COURSR IT WOULD MAKE SENSE FOR US TO BE THERE EARLY. This type of information of "first come first serve" is important to give to individuals. If you know that shelter is popular. So I'm telling you this so it doesn't happen to other individuals...if you want a shelter, it's first come first serve.

There are multiple slides, swings for babies and kids, climbing areas and a shaded canopy. I liked that it had the squishy floor rather than sand or bark. It was appropriate for my three year old. There's one covered picnic bench area and a larger bbq grill. There's parking all along the street but no separate parking lot. It's nestled in a neighborhood so there's plenty of parking. The bad: It is not great for large gatherings because there's only one picnic area. The interesting: It's adjacent to some schools.

There was also a couple inside the children's pirates themed enclosure acting suspicious and most likely using drugs. The couple wouldn't leave although the other parent asked them to. I was left feeling uneasy when the parks and recreation worker refused to check the enclosure for left over drug paraphernalia. I wouldn't go back.

There is so much to admire, from the beautiful gardens and unique architecture to the bird enclosures scattered throughout the grounds. My favorite spot was what felt like a greenhouse--a beautiful white building tucked within the park, complete with a gorgeous fountain inside. It felt full of life and had such an ethereal atmosphere. Even the squirrels were curious and interactive, making the experience feel even more alive. There are also several beautiful statues placed throughout the property, giving you something new to discover around every corner. Most people haven't even heard of SFS and if they have it's mostly known for commercial business rather than beautiful scenery. This park is so serene, even on a weekend! It's gated with two sides for entry so it's open during certain hours. The park hosts a few events during the year but if you visit on a random day, you're likely to find yourself enjoying the history of the park, the area and the peacefulness nature brings.

Alot of people do not walk dogs on leashes here. Which is frustrating because I don't want to find out if your dog bites. The parking sucks here and they never have the additional restrooms open. We always have to walk down to community center. Not cool!
