Greystone is an OUTSTANDING company with top notch employees. They did an amazing job correcting my small retaining wall and providing a beautiful stamped concrete patio and two walkways. They also noticed a bare spot on my lawn and threw some top soil on it. What a pleasant surprise. Also, they corrected my drainage and gave me a small drainage strip that blended in with my stamped concrete. These are professionals who know what they are doing and who go the extra mile. We will be using them again in the spring to do some more work bc they are really good, trustworthy and fun to work with. My only regret is that I did not reach out to them years ago. Do not use this company. I hired them to reseal my existing patio. Upon arrival (I was at work) they cleaned my newly installed front walkway - this was not part of the contract - and did some minor damage to the finish. It was very shiny and looked really great before they cleaned it, and now it is dull and there are parts where the finish doesn't even match. I called and spoke to the company, exchanged several emails, and they kept promising to get back with me or send someone out to look at it. They claim they only washed it and that no damage was done, but I have before pictures and definitely feel like there was some damage. The person on the phone told me that I chose a poor color for the walkway (red) and that it fades quickly. This is not fading, unless it happened, literally, overnight. To date, they have not followed up with the promised visit and have ceased all communication with me. Terrible customer service - all I want at this point is someone to come out and take a look and explain to me why my new front walk looks they way it does. read more

We are a repeat customer. We had Greystone pour a concrete patio in 2005 at our other home. This year, we went to their shop, created a plan, and had a designer then come to the house to draw up the patio and sitting walls. We learned that there is an A Team and a B Team. The A team came and created the most magnificent stamped concrete patio. The B Team came to install sitting walls, French drains, and finish the lighting. What a disappointment they were. Must be someone's nephew who needed a job. We call them "Smoking & Joking" because that is how they spent their time at our home. It was a mess from beginning to end. ** May 3 The A Team began with forming the large patio (1,320 sq ft). They poured, cleaned, and sealed within the next 6 days. ** May 10 The B Team arrives and it all begins to fall apart from here... After 1 week, 4 of the six stone caps cracked in half. Also, the fire pit stone caps cracked and one was not glued down (See photo). ** May 17 Electrician came to hook up the lights, but he left the wiring junction laying in the mud they created (see photo). ** June 25 Different team came to install the 2 French drains on either side of the house. They did not install correctly - too high and left fabric visible (see photo). An email with photos was sent to Carly, Melissa, and Judy showing the items needing repair. No response. ** July 15 We received an incorrect invoice, stating "Thank you for your patience." I called and told them we weren't paying until the items were repaired. ** July 30 The B team show up with replacement stones. I inform them that we are having a party that day and IF THEY HAD CALLED PRIOR, I could have saved them the trip up here. They left the stones and drove away. ** Aug 3 Two different B Team members show up to take out the broken stone caps and replace them. No saw horse, no T-frame. Needless to say, they did not mitre the edges so the caps don't line up (see photo). Guess they will be back to "fix" it again. They laid the stones on my front lawn to cut with the stone saw. We now have stone saw dust, gravel, rocks, clay, and dead sod where they have driven over the grass without putting down boards to protect the lawn. The stamped concrete patio is beautiful. I have used this company for two projects and will complete a third in the spring. Everything was as promised, Luisa was knowledgeable, friendly, and had some great suggestions to elevate my basic installation to the next level. The design was flawless. All the different teams were exceptionally nice, I had three different teams, one for the stamped concrete, another for the carpentry and a third for the masonary work. All teams had experienced crews. Communication was through the lead of each team. Teams cleaned up after themselves at the end of each day and took all debris. We moved into a home 7 years ago that needed a number of projects done. Among them was a resurfaced front walkway. The concrete was almost down to gravel. We had our landscaper try to do it but it did not turn out well. We called Greystone to do a flagstone resurfacing and it could not have turned out better. Very Happy! I don't leave many reviews online but wanted to take moment to comment here. Greystone had poured a stamped concrete patio for us at a prior home about 15 years ago. When we sold it a couple years back it was still in great shape without defect, so we knew we wanted to get them to quote again for this project. As I looked online, I saw a couple reviews that gave me pause as it appeared that in recent years Greystone quality had gone downhill. We received multiple estimates for our project (patio and walls surrounding our new pool house) from several well-known companies. Greystone's proposal price was right in the middle. I met with Luisa (owner) and Melissa (project manager) several times to go over the project detail and voice my concerns about what I had recently read online and stressed that quality was very important to me. They acknowledged there had been some difficulty during the COVID years and that they were making a huge, concerted effort to increase customer satisfaction. We decided to go with Greystone, and don't regret it for a second. Communications with both the office and the onsite work supervisor was great. Dan (owner) was at the worksite on a couple occasions to make sure the project kicked-off right and was back for the pour. Greystone was able to find engineered stone that matched my existing stone wall in both style and color (they had not done the previous pool area work at this house). The masons matched pattern and tied the new concrete work into the existing pool patio in an integrated and seamless fashion. I'm very detail oriented and Greystone's finishers addressed all my concerns -- which were really no more than a few blemishes. My family is very happy with the result and would definitely use Greystone again. I realize that installing a patio is a very messy process. However, the team that installed my patio showed very little respect for the property beyond the reasonable parameters needed for installation. The cleanup was a disaster and left my yard in very rugged condition, especially since I had compost spread and it was just seeded. Their equipment left gouges in row of soil and nobody bothered to smooth it out when they were done. I contacted Greystone requesting that some of the crew return to clean up the mess. My initial response was that it would be looked into..........and I never heard back from anyone. Once my check cleared, it was a dead issue!!!! I am disappointed in the level of good customer service. The patio is beautiful but the cleanup left a good deal to be desired. For starters, I was a bit concerned about the negative reviews, and I have to agree with some of the comments about communications issues. For example, I tried calling several times one day and nobody answered the phone. I think it's because there is only one person in the office and they are extremely busy. As far as the finished project is concerned, I am completely satisfied and would definitely use them again! Further, after receiving the cost estimate, I decided to inquire about having Greystone install footers for a deck I plan to built in the future over the patio. Greystone was totally flexible and revised the estimate to include this additional work. They scheduled the inspector for the footers as well, so the installation was completed seamless. I had one more quote from a competitor, and Greystone was several thousand dollars cheaper. We just bought l dream retirement home and hired Greystone to install a full stamped patio and deck. While they built a beautiful deck and patio the overall workmanship is sloppy. I held my final payment until they came to do the following: 1. The leaked oil all over my brand new driveway. After several calls and several weeks they finally came and cleaned it. 2. They had to replace a bad board on the deck.. also completed. 3. The didn't connect the sump drain pipe... also completed. 4. The stain on the patio had splotchy grey spots. They came and resealed but there are still unresolved spots. 5. There is brown stain that got on my white foundation the entire length of the patio. The power washed but it does not come off and have told me there is nothing they can do and after construction a homeowner should expect that they will have to "cleanup". I find this unacceptable. My request is they either paint it or give me a discount so I can hire someone do it. I went ahead and paid them hoping they would still resolve but no luck. Very disappointed. read more

Their customer service doesn't even deserve a star. We had a walkway done, which was delayed a few weeks, but they took down the awning post and cut our gutter and left us in this condition for 2 huge storms. This of course caused flooding in our walkway which seeped into our basement and caused more issues. They came back to fix this a week or so later, but left huge holes in the ground where the pipe openings were placed in the middle of the walkway. We've called everyday for now two weeks and no one has called or emailed us back. We can't imagine why since we haven't paid the last installment yet. I'm sure we will miraculously end up at collections, which we have picture documentation of incomplete services and daily calls and emails to get this resolved. I'm not even asking for damages to the basement, just to properly finish the job! If we could work with just the laborers that came out, I would have them do other jobs because they did put in a nice walkway. After repeated attempts to get "Greystone Masonry" out of Ham Lake, MN to fix a section of Duracrete Concrete (Cemstone), installed three panels across one section that was warranted due to scaling. This is their Warranty information from their website (greystonemasonry.com): Warranty The installation services will cover your installation (material and labor) for one year. All jobs will be installed in accordance with the professional standards (as set forth by the American Concrete Institute) for placement and finishing of concrete. The warranty work is terrible and they now say that they don't warranty this work (done by them). They chipped the edge of a good section and did a hack job on the repair. The outside section is crooked (not a straight line). The section heaved (1-2 inches) during the winter (2018 - 2019) and I sent the one of the owners (Amy Merkle) an email in the March 2019 explaining the section is a problem and trip hazard for visitors. She passed the buck to the other owner who never responded to e-mails or requests to followup. The following winter (2019-2020) it got worse and heaved so much that it never went down to a flush level. Now sits a half inch above the rest of the driveway. The heaving issue was never explained to me when the slab was installed before the first winter freeze (2018/2019)? Add to this I asked Greystone's site supervisor (August 2018) when the replacement was done if I should be concerned with the repair and impact of winter. His response was I shouldn't worry about it being a problem with winter freeze. Owner Bob Orchard finally came out to look at and explained they can't do anything further. Offered a suggestion to fill in an epoxy product to prevent the heaving but they don't do that. Interesting thing is they created the problem with their warranty work by cutting out a bad section and installing a new section that didn't adhere to rest of the driveway. The old slab didn't heave and would rather have left this whole thing alone given what I know now. Add to this now its my problem and will cost me to correct the heaving using a concrete specialist. read more

We had a patio and sidewalk poured in 2015. I scheduled a reseal last year. Greystone kept saying that they were months behind because of Covid and they would let me know when there was an opening. Finally, this Wednesday they called and said that they would come on Thursday to do the reseal. On Thursday morning, I moved all of my patio furniture off the patio and rescheduled other plans that I had made that day so that I could be there when they did the work. I waited all day but they never showed up and never called. On Thursday evening, I called and left a message asking to speak to the manager first thing in the morning to find out why they didn't show up or call. I moved all of my patio furniture back. They never called back. On Friday afternoon, a crew finally showed up when I was about to leave to attend to the matters I had rescheduled from Thursday. I called the office to find out why I had not received a return call. I was told that they were short-staffed and given a lengthy talk on the complexities of scheduling their jobs and that resealing is their last priority. The office stated "this is how we do things at Greystone." I told the crew to leave and found another firm that hopefully will treat its customers with more respect. read more

Before I start, I'll note here that the yelp system is shooting errors and unable to post my entries. All morning long, I have tried posting an update to my only other review and I keep getting the message "Oops, something went wrong. Please try again, later". Now onto Greystone. Where do I begin? Oh God!!! In summary, use Greystone at your own peril. Anyhow, last year, we solicited the services of greystone after getting word of mouth recommendation. We received an estimator at our property, explained to him that we wanted a redo of the entire yard because we were having drainage issue. The deck was to be replaced with a concrete patio (function over form) and the corrugated pipes which were rendered useless by tree roots would be replaced with pvc pipes for which we were charged per foot of pvc. The contract also included the installation of a drainage box in front of the shed (the lowest point in the yard). He also got to watch a video showing standing water in our yard when it rains. We made the initial payment for the work to start, paid for the relocation of our HVAC to accommodate the work and all hell broke loose. They tore down the deck as agreed upon, put in the concrete patio and proceeded to do shoddy work afterwards on every aspect of the part of the contract geared at arresting our drainage issues. First problem was the provision of just pick axes by management for the guys to tackle the extensive root system of a 50 foot tree. Then to my chagrin, I caught the guys pulling out corrugated pipes and I vehemently opposed their installation showing them where only pvc was written in my contract. They put in the pvc but left it so shallow the thing was virtually sitting on the surface of the earth. The drain box they claimed they could not do because of the tree roots. How could the tree roots be an obstacle after the work commenced? What was the point of sending an estimator to the property of the customer and drawing up a contract if no part of the contract was going to be respected? Well, the follow up was even worse. The workers disappeared telling me a new crew would return the next day. On the second day, the crew that came told me they were there just for clean up. When I informed them of the true nature of their visit, they took one look at the scene and turned around and left. The tree roots again was the root of all evil. Well, Greystone finally showed up 2 weeks later. We had to scuttle all goals of using our yard for a party. We had to have the HVAC re-install done before all work was completed, we had to request extension from other vendors/service providers who were supposed to start work after Greystone was done and we had to keep sending emails and calling to no avail. I sent Greystone a spreadsheet/project plan (itemizing what went wrong and how best to tackle the problem), I sent Luisa the same video that the sales representative had viewed at our property before we signed up a contract and after much back and forth and after I insisted we cut our losses (we pay nothing further and they not return since the work had been abandoned for two weeks), Tony was sent to our property. No drain box was installed but he graded the yard and still using a pick axe, drove the pvc pipes further down the earth so they were no longer at surface level. Was this what we signed up for. Definitely not. It was a horrible experience thru and thru. Matter of fact, it was the worst experience ever. Judging from some of the glowing review, one may surmise that maybe my experience was a one-off. I don't know but you be the judge. If anyone is wondering. I still have the pictures of the pvc sticking out of the ground, and the communication between Greystone and my family. This was nothing short of a surreal experience. read more

Very disappointed in Greystone this summer. We are returning customers and got quotes on both a new stamped concrete patio and restoring/resealing of the stamped concrete sidewalk they installed around our house a good ten years ago. They made it clear to us that the quotes were separate and we could do one without the other, and yet, after deciding not to go with them for the patio they never came out and did the resealing job on the sidewalk, despite numerous messages and phone calls from me. A few weeks ago I left a voicemail saying please call me back if you decide not to honor your estimate (I had already signed and returned the estimate) and they never contacted me back. Just ignored the voicemail I left them. Earlier when I had talked to them they said they were waiting for another job in my neighborhood, Hampton Oaks. Terrible company! They were very responsive before they got the money. Once, they started the job, we never saw the owners or supervisor again. We called many times. The owner stopped by one day, unannounced , and did a change order on the job without our permission or ever notifying us. Lastly, they never finished the job! We ended up in court. We won the first case. They appealed hired a lawyer who bought the judge! The initial judge was changed that morning before court. The new judge was very old and fell asleep during the hearing. We were going to appeal, but thought too much money and time would be spent for the appeal. Instead, we decided to educated everyone about this company through word of mouth and social media. Not even sure where to start...The pictures will speak volumes as to the careless workmanship of Greystone. My Job, which was not the cheapest estimate BTW, started the first of December and here is the end of March and still don't have resolution. I wish to God I had given more credit to the reviews and now here I am joining the ranks of screwed customers. First, within the first 30 minutes of demolition they destroyed a garden that was in the drawing and contract to remain untouched. My husband went out two times demanding they stop but not a soul on the job spoke English. I understand that the part of my yard they were working in would be disturbed but they destroyed my entire back yard. Their 1st bobcat broke down and they pushed it to a part of my yard they weren't even supposed to be in and it proceed to leak diesel fuel into my yard. Then they backed a dump truck to the edge of my one year old driveway and broke it, that's right broke it. They took our fence apart and busted it up. Then they drug the bobcat with the dumptruck across my backyard leaving deep ruts for about 30 feet, parked it on the driveway and it poured more diesel fuel unto the driveway which pitted it really bad. This must be a common occurrence with them because please read carefully their ambiguous contract which says they won't be responsible for driveways. My backyard was nothing but a mud pit and my husband and I spent all new years day trying to get it where our dog could use the yard without sinking in the mud. We fixed the fence ourselves also. The owner is rude and cantankerous and his staff is irrelevant, you can call over and over and over and no one ever knows what you're talking about, like they don't communicate with each-other. We scheduled a 3 pm appointment for the owner to come talk to us and see the mess on a Friday afternoon. My husband lost a day of work to be there and at 3:30 I called asking where the owner was and he got on the phone and said he didn't know anything about it even though we confirmed it by email. I have sent numerous emails trying to get resolution and one time the owner will say he will do one thing and then change his mind the next. The patio itself turned out good but it just wasn't worth the damage and aggravation left behind, would never ever recommend these people. My next door neighbors had an equally large project they wanted to get done and they won't be hiring Greystone after seeing our fiasco. read more

I will no longer recommend Greystone Masonry in Stafford, VA because while they do a great job, their customer service has greatly changed. Previously I tried to call them based on the phone number on the various vehicles I'd seen in town, but only got voice mail. In May 2021, I drove to their location to inform them that my calls only went to VM, and I was told that they have been extremely busy since COVID. I spoke with Melissa Carter via phone and she emailed me with instructions. I replied to acknowledge her email on May 25, and on May 26, I provided the required information. There has been no further contact from Greystone. A friend of mine recently purchased a single family home, and I previously gave rave reviews for this business because I've contracted with them twice, but when my friend kept asking me if I heard back from Greystone, and I told her no, she decided to go with another business. Where do I begin?? This company eventually creates a nice product but it's a painful process! There appears to be a disconnect of information between office and work crew because at almost every stage of our $25k project there was something done inaccurately, sloppily or untimely. Grading/flooding issues were not addressed in the initial design phase and needed to be corrected later, multiple times. The wrong stain color combinations were put on and had to be corrected. The work crew dumped the excavated dirt right where I told them not to. They didn't ask me how many step lights we wanted... Just put them on every step at $150 per light. We also hired them to level out and lay gravel for a shed site which they didn't complete until later into the first day that the shed crew arrived to start that job... causing a delay for the shed company. This occurred even after my repeated attempts to contact them with ample time to coordinate the timing of this job. I had to physically go to Greystone and talk to one of the owners because the office didn't return my calls and the shed guys were getting nervous. They started our project on May 15th and finally finished on September 1st. Weeks would go by between my request for corrections and when they would get them done. I think the only reason they didn't take longer is that they were ready to collect the other half of the money we owed them. The patio does look nice and we are enjoying it a lot. Just wish getting to this point wasn't so painful. We won't use them again and will not recommend them to others. read more

What happened to taking pride in your work? We hired Greystone to install a large, expensive stamped concrete patio and the horrible customer service and poor workmanship blew my mind! The first day they busted a hole in the house foundation, took a section of our fence out, broke off the deck step railing and busted two ballisters on the deck. Oh, and we just had our house painted so we told them to be careful not to get any concrete on the house, so they put up plastic, good idea right? NO THEY USED MASKING TAPE and ripped off all the paint when they removed the plastic! C'mon, really! All of this on the first day! You would think the owner would be on the horn apologizing, but no, they tried to cover what they could up, and didn't mention it, just left for the day. And it gets worse, they left a footprint in the concrete, there are terrible drainage issues, and they didn't stamp or stain many areas around the wall. It's almost comical; nobody would belive this. After numerous unanswered phone calls and emails, they sent someone out three different times to try and fix the concrete but they just made it worse each time. I should mention they would just show up, never called beforehand. We were told they couldn't put new concrete on top to fix the problem areas, that they had to use some kind of epoxy, but it's not stamped, the color doesn't match, it just looks bad. As far as the other damages to our property, Greystone has yet to address them. We were told it would take five days to complete. Start date was 20 July 2017. Hired Greystone to put in an approximately 530 sq foot patio, wood pergola, stone seating wall and stone fire pit. Job started fine meeting with Carly and picking all the finishes. Job started 3 weeks late due to permit issues out of our control. Had nothing but issues with company any after concrete went in. Issues with the exposed edging not being finished correctly, stamp pattern not being consistent as far as joints not showing up, a lot of concrete on joints being rough. Crew came back out after numerous calls to grind down rough concrete and rough edging work. Result of grinding left concrete that was not colored at all. After more phone calls back and forth and meeting with workers, their fix was to mix coloring with sealer and paint it on the joints. Coloring was not even the same color as the patio! After more calls and luckily we had not made our final payment, crew can put again and re-colored joints and re-sealed entire patio. Patio was sealed four times due to all their issues, and we finally decided it was close enough and we were tired of dealing with them. Took roughly a month to finish our job, which should've taken week and a half max. Major disconnect between their office personnel and work crews. Not many on their crews speak English. As a whole, company treated my wife like she was an idiot when she complained about their poor work. Would not recommend Greystone to any home owner, save your money and choose a less expensive company. Horrible experience. read more

We had a really unpleasant experience with another local concrete company (TDJ Concrete of Stafford VA), who gave us a release from our contract and never returned, leaving us with warped forms and gravel. Our backyard was a muddy, gravel mess and was completely unusable for 5 months. As soon as we realized the other company was not coming back, we contracted with Greystone Masonry of Stafford VA, and got on their schedule. Due to the busy time of year (Summer 2014) we had to wait 3 months for Greystone to be able to complete the project. Greystone came in and completed the job with beautiful results. They were easy to work with, and we really loved their beautiful showroom. Greystone did not try to price gouge us, even though they knew we were in a tough spot. They were reasonably priced. Most importantly, the end result was an absolutely perfect patio. Greystone has experienced, skilled concrete masons. Working with concrete is a time sensitive process. We would not recommend going with a small, amateur company for this reason. I had a proposal for a retaining wall around my front porch, a sidewalk and a 20 ft wall down my driveway. When they left on that Saturday I noticed the wall was 11 ft too short. I called and told them my concern. Once we agreed there was a mistake they said they would schedule someone which they did but showed up 2 days earlier without me knowing. In my contract I agreed to replace my drain if needed for $900.00 from my gutters which dumped by my road. They not only didn't replace it they put the drain in my wall which drains under my driveway. Which I never agreed too or was ever talked about. I emailed twice got the same response nothing was ever done. I also stated that their guys left trash, mud on my house and I have shoveled 3 wheelbarrows of gravel and broken stone. (also the wall is crooked) I sent them the pictures. I did send one more email a few weeks ago. No response. read more

Have seen post of beautiful work. However I have been waiting over six weeks to get an estimate. Went to follow up in person three weeks ago on a Saturday and was told estimate would be delivered to email the following Monday morning. Called last week and was told would have it in half an hour. STILL WAITING. read more

My experience is similar to Kaylaa H. (see below). Call customer support AFTER all checks have been cashed and you will get no response. Send them an email and you will get no response. I made a mistake going with this company for my patio. Don't repeat my mistake. read more

The project turned out differently than we expected as a step had to be added. Not our preference but we understood the reasoning. Shortly after, the walkway became very dirty and rinsing with a hose didn't help. We were told that the walkway would have to be cleaned by them and resurfaced as it became VERY slippery. Well they came once. We needed them to come out again and for two years, with a signed contract for this past June, 2018 they never could come. Their customer service is awful. We will be replacing the walkway with a different product, will not use them again and never recommend them. read more

Greystone delivers an exceptional product. Although communication could be improved, I would not choose any other company to complete my stamped concrete patio. It has transformed our outside living area and has provided enjoyment and happiness to my family. The company did a very good job of constructing our patio and slab. There was a small degree of confusion with the instructions at the onset of the project, however, the completed patio was awesome. I would recommend them to anyone desiring stamped concrete. We are very pleased with the results! We had lights installed in the steps that cascade down to the patio, with additional lighting installed underneath the seating areas. It looks beautiful! read more

I agree with the previous reviewer. I had them come out in April for an estimate to add to previous work they had done. It's now 7 May and after 3 calls I cannot get a straight answer for the estimate. I have never worked so hard to give a company my money. Needless to say after hearing every excuse in the book, I'm going elsewhere. read more

We had a stamped patio and sidewalk done. We also had a poured concrete driveway and stone work done. I would recommend them for the stapled concrete. However I would not recommend them for poured concrete. Our driveway has numerous pitted areas after only one year. We called the company to come out and look at it numerous times. It took 3 months of calls and messages being left for them before they finally responded. Their answer was salt from the winter caused the pitting, we don't use salt. We feel they don't stand behind all of their work. Also I went to purchase rock from them and was told that I would have to shovel it myself as It was raining and the workers didn't want to get wet. I don't know if we would use them again. read more

Greystone just completed a project for me, which included laying a stamped concrete patio and adding stairs and rail. I believe they gave a realistic timeline for each of the various stages, which helped me to know what to expect. I did have a couple of concerns, but each time I brought it to Greystone's attention, they promptly addressed it. The crew who laid the concrete, and the gentleman who sealed it, were very pleasant and informative. Overall, I am very satisfied. read more
