He's personally been compassionate and educating. Being a student myself I couldn't always afford certain dental treatment but Dr. Yee was always ready to give me options and take the time to explain procedures to me. Few dentists will take the time to make sure you understand what is going to happen to you in a dental clinic. I always felt like I was "in the know" and though many of you may not think it's much... but because of Dr. Yee, I floss regularly! All those dentists before made me feel horrible for not flossing regularly, and Dr.Yee basically just explained to me the benefitsand educated me and did not judge me. The dentists themselves do good enough work but have terrible chair-side manner and show no personal interest and it's the same with the assistants- it seems to be all strictly business all the time and is not a welcoming or comforting environment- it feels overly clinical. After only two visits (1 cleaning and check up and one to have fillings done), I decided to take my business elsewhere. Even though I can't walk to my new dentist, the difference between the two places is like night and day. I suppose it's a good enough option for students living on campus and others who may not want to commute/drive elsewhere, but if you have the option to go elsewhere, I would.

At the time, Dr. Yee appeared to be invested in his patients spending a reasonable amount of time per appointment. As time as passed it seems that my time with the dentist were getting shorter and shorter. Before I stopped going to this clinic, Dr. Yee was extremely late, and the time spent with him was (what felt like) less than 1 minute. He didn't even see me the last time I went! It honestly feels like Dr. Yee has figured out being a dentist and now he's more focused on being an entrepreneur, expanding his office and hiring more dental hygienists. As of my last experience I give 1 star, but honestly he does quality work. My orthodontist complimented the Veneer work that Yee did so +2 stars for that. Oh, the secretarial staff is best described as brusque.

Apparently there is a dental clinic at SFU inside the Cornerstone building. Recently, I had a toothache and decided to make use of my shiny, new SFU ihaveaplan.ca health plan. Dr. Benny Yee is the closest dentist for me in the Dental Network - using someone in the network can up your insurance coverage from 80% to up to 100%, depending on what you need. Well, I have to say, the secretary was really bad. I think she was a student, and she completely overwhelmed me with little, detailed, confusing and often unnecessary facts about the plan - I felt like she was almost showing off. She wouldn't stop talking even as I tried to fill out my medical background information sheet! As soon as she stopped talking she asked me if I was done filling it out. Uh? Her overall manner seemed unprofessional and borderline rude - when I was leaving and figuring out what I owed, there were many percentages to calculate and she scoffed at my confusion, calling it all "simple math" that anyone can do. But I'm brand new to the plan... After the secretary's obvious incompetence, I was shaking as I sat expecting the same from the actual dentist, but I was pleased to see he was much better and much more articulate. The assistant seemed a little sloppy when she had to do certain things. The dentist himself gave me anaesthetics and they hurt a lot, and some dentists can inject them without any pain. After the freezing though, everything went smoothly. He himself seemed alright, I think, but I would avoid going there for sure in the future. They are open long hours, about 10am - 9pm, including Saturday, which is rare.

I am very satisfied with her care and with the results. Dr. McGuire is very accommodating and has shown a lot of patience. She has explained everything and has presented me with options. Her work is top quality and I have not experienced the usual pain and discomfort. I also had an extraction done by Dr. Mak, and again, I cannot praise enough their work! Very good team of professionals -the doctors and everyone there. I want to thank especially Michaela and Mel. I highly recommend Lougheed Dental Clinic.

However I called at 1pm, apologized for missing the appointment and requested for another appointment (I am slightly in the wrong here and I accept it, and was about to explain why) the receptionist said 'this is not going to work, go and find another dentist' and hung up. She wasn't even willing to talk further. Not only did you lose my business, I also feel you need to train their employees to handle situations in a professional manner. Receptionists and people who work in patient interfacing are your representatives to the world and should not be insulting. This is really hurtful, and even if the dental service reviews are great, the experience was so disrespectful that I wouldn't recommend anyone calling them to be embarrassed by a phone staff.

I had a series of fillings to cover some exposed roots, two of which failed within 6 months. Through another dentist I discovered that I should of got a gum graft instead given the amount of recession. Additionally the crown I got through Cameron Dental Centre is too big and the colour match is poor. I don't have enough money to continue my previous treatment plan and to correct Dr. Sanghas previous work as gum grafts and crowns are very expensive. I'm left pondering a trip to Costa Rica where dental work is cheaper and at a relative high standard. The dental industry in Canada needs to be more regulated and prices charged need to be determined by the government and not the BCDA whose priority is preservation of Dentists life style and not what is fair to the patient. So, after getting a ton of fillings, a couple of root canals and three of my wisdom teeth pulled out, all in the past decade, needless to say, I dreaded dental appointments the most amongst medical visits! And, ever since I moved to the Lower Mainland in 2021, I switched dentists multiple times due to my teeth not getting the optimal care they deserve. All of that was until I discovered Coquitlam Dental Group two years ago - since then, I look forward to my routine check-up and filling sessions, thanks to the fantastic, no-nonsense medical care, advice and referrals that I receive from the amazing Dr. Orkideh. ‍ People Power Dr. Orkideh is a very experienced, knowledgeable, friendly, kind and considerate person, and ensures that her patients receive the best care with no pain in tow. Right from our first interaction, I knew that I and my teeth were in good hands. Though not all hygienists take it easy on the teeth and gums, I'm lucky to have Erica at CDG to clean my teeth - she is by far the gentlest and one of the best in the business! Her humming was so soothing while she went about her job, and conversing with her in gaps was probably easier than extracting plaque from between teeth. Ewwww! If you're expecting floss without flaws, now you know where to go! Dr. Saeid was also quite kind and sincere in his assessment of my prior root canal treatments to determine if further care is required. On the other hand, Dr. Shahram, in my opinion was short and curt during the one sitting that I had with him. Not the most reassuring interaction to have with someone before and after they extract your wisdom tooth, no matter how experienced they are or how clean a job they did. Unfortunately, this has been the only near-unprofessional appointment I've had here till date, so hopefully the dentist was just having a bad day (which still doesn't excuse their unpleasant conduct) and they will do better in future. Services & Significance It's super-easy to manage appointments by calling the reception for speedy service. The folks manning the front desk, from Dipa and Angela back in the day to Cathy and Natasha at present, are always helpful and patient. Though I lived right next door to the clinic during my initial few appointments, which made it super convenient, I soon had to move to a house about half an hour's drive away. So, my continuing to prefer visiting CDG despite the avoidable commute will vouch for the perceived value and RoI I get here over finding and switching to a dentist nearby. Clean Scene The clinic is sparkling clean, well-organized with optimal usage of the available space, and relatively peaceful (despite it always being booked, plus it being located right next to a busy intersection). The reception area has ample seating for patients awaiting their turn, and the individual treatment rooms are neat and comfortable. The restrooms are also spic and span, so they do score high on the cleanliness front too. Bang for Your Buck Dental care isn't economical and each appointment doesn't come cheap, especially when paying out of pocket. But, thanks to MSP and the direct billing to insurance, dental visits have never felt this wallet-friendly! Add to that the absence of any upselling or shady business, I can rest assured that I will be infected by neither buyer's remorse nor patient's regret! Ease Peasy The place is easily accessible, just a few blocks away from Skytrain Stations along the Millennium Line, and mere steps away from several bus stops. If you're driving, there is limited (and tight) spots underground where you can park you car for up to 2 hours free of cost (make sure to register on the provided link or inform the front desk to validate your parking). Else, you will need to try your luck finding street parking along Whiting Way or Foster Ave. Final Verdict It's a pleasure to be treated by a good dentist and to receive such wonderful dental care. Hence, I highly recommend Dr. Orkideh and Coquitlam Dental Group.
