I am writing this review to share my experience connected to a trip that began at the San Antonio Greyhound station. On March 3, 2026, I boarded Greyhound Bus Route US1160 traveling from San Antonio to Austin. The boarding process itself was relatively straightforward, but a serious issue arose after my trip when I realized approximately one hour after arrival that my suitcase had been left in the secured undercarriage compartment of the bus. Because the undercarriage luggage compartment is locked and controlled exclusively by Greyhound personnel, the bag remained in the company's custody while the bus continued to its final stop in Dallas. I immediately submitted a lost property report while the bus was still in transit and was told the investigation would take approximately 7 business days. It has now been about a month without recovery of the suitcase or a clear explanation regarding what inspection procedures were conducted once the bus reached its final destination. The suitcase contained electronics, clothing, and personal items, including limited-availability apparel that cannot easily be replaced. Additionally, during the claims process I requested a reasonable communication accommodation due to a disability that affects my ability to process complex written communication in high-stress situations. I requested phone communication to ensure effective participation in resolving the issue, but communication continued primarily through email, making the process significantly more difficult. When asking questions regarding Emotional Support Animal (ESA) policies, responses at times felt dismissive when simply seeking clarification. Given that many travelers rely on Greyhound as an affordable transportation option, clearer procedures and more consistent customer support would greatly improve the experience. I hope Greyhound improves: * lost property handling procedures * communication transparency * accessibility-related communication practices * customer support responsiveness I am sharing this experience so other travelers can be informed and so improvements can be made to help prevent similar issues in the future. Not ADA compliant. I am an autistic adult. I have an autistic service. Was told by staff that my dog was not service and began to make illegal statements ref my protected class. I attempted to get help from the greyhound ada line, also customer service. No one could get me a person in the bus station. Returned inside to get name of manager. Refused name and help at ticket counter. Security Glen Davis said I had to leave, refusing help. Called San Antonio police as last effort for assistance. They were no help to him telling him I could try back after lunch. Maybe they would be there. Standing on the side of the building in full meltdown waiting on police. Still no assistance. Filing Grievance with company, will contact attorney if needed. Investigate please. I have had problems with them in past but not to this extent. read more

Absolutely Horrific Experience -- Avoid Greyhound at All Costs I cannot stress this enough: taking a Greyhound bus from California to Texas and back was one of the worst travel decisions I've ever made. Nothing about this trip matched what Greyhound promises on their website -- not the buses, not the service, and definitely not the "comfort." The buses were filthy, outdated, and miserable. The seats were uncomfortable after the first hour. Legroom was practically nonexistent. Several power outlets didn't work. The WiFi was almost useless, and the air conditioning worked only when it felt like it. This wasn't long-distance travel -- it was a rolling nightmare. The entire bus looked like it hadn't been maintained in years. I've seen prison buses in movies that looked more comfortable. Food options? Don't expect any. Every stop was at a random gas station, and even then, we were given barely 10-15 minutes to grab food -- hardly enough time to find something edible. There were no real breaks and absolutely no consideration for passengers' basic needs. Delays were constant and communication was non-existent. At several transfer points, we were left waiting for over an hour while buses were being "cleaned," with zero explanation or updates from the staff. And that was just the beginning. Then came the nightmare in El Paso. On the return trip, the bus broke down while entering El Paso. We were told to grab all our belongings because a replacement bus was on the way. That was a lie. We waited inside the station for over three hours without a single update. Finally, only when the station was closing, they told us that there were no working buses and the driver had cancelled. Just like that. What followed was completely inhumane. We were forced to leave the station and wait outside overnight -- stranded in a strange city with no food, no shelter, no guidance, and no help whatsoever. No hotel vouchers. No alternative arrangements. No apology. Just dozens of exhausted passengers, left out in the cold like we didn't matter. No refund. No accountability. No humanity. This wasn't just poor service -- it was negligence. Greyhound does not care about its passengers. Once they have your money, you're on your own. I would never recommend this company to anyone. Fly. Drive. Walk. Do anything else, because Greyhound is a disgrace to public transportation. read more

Kind of a creepy place at 4:30 AM... Lots of people sacked out on the hard benches waiting for their ride. A couple of the employees look like MS 13 members with tattoos everywhere one could see. The Greyhound ticket man was nice and helpful. He was about the only redeeming factor there. The facilities are old and in need of a makeover. The restrooms... well I decided to hold it. Vending machines sell water and snacks at a premium like an airport. A greasy spoon kitchen sells some kind of edibles. You sit on some hard steel benches until they tell you to lineup for your bus. Your best will be assigned a particular line identified by letters of the alphabet. Then when they announce your bus is boarding, move quickly. The bus driver was friendly, efficient and did well keeping up with customers at pit stops. The bus was older and could've used to have been cleaned up better. The smell from the toilet in back dominated the entire bus. I could not figure out how to make the seat back recline, but I found a seat that was already reclined. They got me where I needed to go and that's the bottom line. Since I was in a pinch this was my best option. However, I would avoid it in the future if possible. read more

I was with my friend (two young girls) and we have been harassed the entire 30 minutes of wait time in the Greyhound San Antonio Station by one employee who has been calling us our attention plenty of times and only to us. We gently opened the door to a girl since it was locked (everyone else had been doing that before and we were only doing an act of gesture) and then this man approached us to say we couldn't do that when again, everyone else had been doing that. He even called security saying that we were trying to make it into a big problems when he was the one calling security for us and being absolutely disrespectful. He then was in the door of our bus and started getting closer to me asking me what was I saying about him when I never said nothing about him. Almost didn't allowed me to enter the bus because he got in front of me almost forcing me to tell him what did I say when I hadn't said anything. I felt super uncomfortable because he even had police on his side when we has not done anything wrong. We was then waiting outside the bus looking at us all the time which made me uncomfortable. Never again coming back to this station. I practically had to yell to him to stop harassing me because he wouldn't stop checking on us and calling on us every time. Horrible experience. read more

Imagine driving to a restaurant and order for a pepperoni pizza in advance for pickup, and when you get there, it's a pizza with anchovies , onions , olives,and pretty much everything you didn't ask for; oh and to top it off, they haven't even put it in the oven (this is obviously an analogy), ; even though i made the reservation through AI (a website for the baby boomers). The bus I had purchased a ticket for never arrived. My university closed for winter break and 12 of us were stranded with no where to go because this bus did not show up. When I asked for a refund my ticket was instead rescheduled for a bus 4 hours later. Greyhound expected me to wait 4 hours in the cold because they simply did not show up when they were supposed to. They are adamantly refusing to give me a refund on the grounds that the ticket is "non-refundable" however I paid for a service I did not receive. read more

I was not expecting much from Greyhound, but I was pleasantly surprised. Rode from McAllen, Tx. to San Antonio to Austin using the higher tier ticket (only three stops). That ticket "supposedly" allows you to enter the bus first (priority seating), but the lady behind the counter said, "We don't do that here." Left 5 minutes late, no big deal. One stop in Edinburg, one in Falfurrias, and off we go. The bus was not too crowded, passengers all behaved properly. Arrived to SA fifteen minutes early, so we had a one hour layover. And it was in the Greyhound bus terminal, at 9 pm, that I discovered the highlight of my trip. This little burger stand with these amazing hamburgers! And amazing fries too! I would come to this place just for the burgers. Left the terminal right on time, and arrived in Austin about 15 minutes early. Overall, a good trip for me. read more

I am so disappointed with this company. My 90 year old grandmother was using my computer to try and book a bus ticket. She made a mistake with the auto-fill option and booked it under my name instead of hers. When we called to change the name, we were told there would be a $20 fee to transfer the ticket into another name, I did not think it was a big deal because the agent told us there was no fee to cancel the ticket all together. We decided to do that, and he gave us instructions to do so through the "contact us" option on their site. She ended up booking the next ticket for the incorrect time... so I cancelled that one too and finally just did the whole thing for her to avoid another mistake. Now Greyhound is REFUSING to refund her for the unused, mistakenly booked tickets and they are ROBBING a 90 year old woman of nearly $100. The claim they will not refund her because it was a promotional fare, which was never explained to us, and they agent himself is the one who told us to do this option. Just disgusting. read more

Quick and speedy. I bought my tickets online the night before. As soon as I walked into the station they called out my destination. I raise my hand and they just point me in the direction it is in with the bus number. The bus driver scanned my ticket off my phone and into the bus I went. Smooth process for me. The bus left right on time. Overall the station is pretty typical. Slightly grungy, some uncomfortable looking seats.... but you get an affordable way to get to another city. I do NOT recommend booking with Greyhound! They do not limit their passenger capacity on the bus. My trip up to Dallas, the bus was almost filled and everyone was sitting right next to each other, side by side. It made me feel extremely uncomfortable. I saw Megabus has an Empty Seat Guarantee policy. Greyhound should follow immediately. There is no running water and soap to wash your hands in the latrine. Only hand sanitizer. No one was checking claim tickets to make sure you were getting the correct luggage. So anyone could've easily taken someone else's luggage. WiFi was not working on both busses. (SA to Dallas and Dallas to SA) A few passengers smelled like weed. The only good thing I experienced with Greyhound is our bus driver took the weed incident very seriously and immediately dismissed that individual from the bus. read more

Greyhound express is just greyhound I just took a long trip on "greyhound express" a total of 4 buses. San Antonio Houston, Houston New Orleans, and return in April 2015. Here is the scoop: its a scam. The houston-san antonio wasn't even an express bus, it was just the bus, and so we ended up at the back of the line, worse off than the regular passengers. Wifi? I saw wireless routers on all the buses but not one of the 4 had operational wifi. And the buses always ran late. Even when it was sitting there and the driver was in it, it wouldn't load on time. Legroom was not better than the standard bus--these were the standard buses. And be prepared to be treated like a vagrant. Going to get coffee in the houston bus station is a serious ordeal. I think that when faced with competition from megabus greyhound tried to copy them a little, lost money, chickened out and now just put people on the regular buses. read more

Because I purchase a ticket for my son 17 years old to come from Denton Texas to San Antonio Texas and the location they gave me on the departure from Denton Texas do not exist. Now I have a son stand on the corner after being dropped off with no bus on its way this is unacceptable. I'll called Greyhound and was told the location was somewhere else however my printed ticket from the internet stated otherwise they are to be sued for false advertising and creating a situation that is unsafe for my kid coming home from college for the holiday. Greyhound in general is bad and has poor customer service. I purchased a full priced fully refundable ticket, was unable to travel, and was told I could not get a refund. That does not sound like refundable. The San Antonio station in particular is awful. Very poor customer service. I ride frequently, and have often heard staff literally yell at passengers, and I have had them raise their voice at me, although I do not tolerate such Shenanigans. I have also witnessed them deliberately not help disabled passengers; fortunately, other passengers were willing to help. Unfortunately, I utilize Greyhound frequently, as their are no other reasonably priced options between my 2 150 mile apart towns. If I never had to ride Greyhound again, I would be happy. read more

I had the worst driver ever this trip! I think he should not be a driver!He is unsafe and a loose cannon. First of all he is African American. I'm only saying that so he can be identified if the Greyhound company reads this. He was taking us from San Antonio to El Paso. At first I thought he was very nice but it's only because he didn't want the people working at the Station to see his true colors. When we boarded the bus he told me where to sit. That was ok, but then he was telling almost everybody where they could sit and not sit. He was nice to the ladies but very rude to the men. He was so bossy everyone just did what he said. Once the doors were closed and we took off, that's where I started to get upset. He would not stop on this 4-6 hour(I forget how long it was )drive for more than 5 minutes. None of us could get off and get a drink or go to restrooms(cuz the bus b/r's are awful) Then he'd say," I'm only going to stop for 5 min and if you aren't back in 5 min I'll leave your mf ass!" He drove way to fast and the bus was swaying and he over-corrected a few times hard and swayed. I was so scared and tempted to tell him to pull over and let me off. One young man asked him a question and he proceeded to answer him really rudely and kept calling him a MF. The guy said he was going to report him and he yelled at him, "Go ahead and report me MF Blankity blank blank blank!" He was horrible! I wish I could remember his name! This bus is a nightmare. I. Sure they are set to torture people. Everything is ripped and broken.our bus broke twice. The staff yells at us like we are in preschool, and the AC is blasting 55 ac in the bus because it broke. People are caughing and getting sick. If you really want to see the "real" America, then you should have to take the Greyhound. It should be a requirement. I took the Greyhound from Killeen to San Antonio. And it's wasn't that bad. This station is located in a marginal area. I had to walk by a park that was a bit sketchy, but I lived. Here are some suggestions. 1. Bring your cell phone. 2. Bring an Ipod 3. Bring a book 4. The taxi driver didnt want to drop me off there because "she didnt want to get shot" and got mad I wanted to use her credit card machine to pay, (work trip) so that was a great start to my trip. I wasn't told I needed to "check" my bag, and I was confused at the "right" line to be in. I regretted looking "nice" for my trip in jeans and a jacket, everyone else was so causal that I looked black tie. I got asked for money aggressively more than once and when I made eye contact with security they just looked back blankly. I used to take the grayhound bus all the time from Philly to DC or New York to Boston, and this was not that kind of bus trip...it was slightly scary/rude. I did not feel like I could whip out my Kindle, iphone, laptop... and that was why I took the bus instead of renting a car to begin with. So next time, I'll just drive myself. read more
