Writing to share how disappointed I was in my recent experience with the people at Corwin…read more I found a truck online I was interested in. I showed up to see it and met a very nice salesman who offered to help me. Should've been a slam dunk for the salesman and the dealership. I go to see the truck and it is NOT as nice as the photos. It had a check engine light, scratched up front bumper, hail damage on the hood, the windshield camera was falling off, and the interior floor board had holes and stains on it. The truck was 10 years old but had no business being on the lot in that condition. Nonetheless I was still interested thinking they would make a deal on the truck plus work with me on my trade in. I tell the salesman what I wanted for my trade in and what I wanted to pay for the new truck. I also told him I had pre-approved financing. Very cut and dry and nothing out of the ordinary. Should be easy peasy. I come back that day with my trade in. They give me a number that is $3000 less than what I had told the salesman and won't budge on price with the new truck. My whole point is I had given them a number that would've gotten them a deal and a sale. I had done my research and had given them numbers below KBB and other online sources. But as always we are told those "don't count" and aren't what "they" use. I made it very clear when I originally left what the deal was to be and they let me leave and come back knowing they had zero intention of honoring that deal. They even wanted to run my credit again knowing I had told them I had a pre-approval letter for financing. When I got up because I was not agreeing of their "deal" and told them I was leaving, not one person offered to discuss the deal further. Not the kind of experience I would recommend from a dealership as "large" as Corwin.

If I could give Budget Radiator and Automotive 10 stars, I absolutely would!…read more We were in Springfield from St. Charles for my daughter's MCDA Honors Choir workshops and concert when our 2015 Honda Odyssey suddenly started flashing warning lights on the highway--FCW, LDW, a flashing Drive indicator, and the check engine light. We were only about 7 miles out from our hotel, but we were worried we might be looking at a transmission replacement as it seemed like the transmission went "limp" and wouldn't change gears while driving! The team at Budget Radiator and Automotive got us in quickly, took the time to thoroughly diagnose the problem, and didn't jump to conclusions or try to sell us unnecessary repairs. They found that the alternator had failed, but they didn't stop there. During the repair they discovered the serpentine belt and tensioner were also failing because the belt kept slipping off. They explained everything clearly, showed us what was happening, and made sure the repair was done correctly. After replacing the alternator, serpentine belt, and tensioner, they checked the transmission fluid at my request, (which looked great), then test drove the van for about 20 miles to make sure everything was working properly before calling us. That's the kind of attention to detail and professionalism every customer hopes for. The van now runs beautifully, all of the warning lights are gone, and we have complete confidence driving it home. When you're traveling and your vehicle breaks down hundreds of miles from home, you're putting a lot of trust in a repair shop you've never met. Budget Radiator and Automotive earned that trust from the moment we walked in. They were honest, knowledgeable, thorough, and genuinely cared about getting us safely back on the road--not just fixing a car. Thank you for turning a stressful situation into such a positive experience. If we're ever in Springfield and need automotive service again, this will be our first call. I highly recommend Budget Radiator and Automotive to anyone looking for a shop they can trust.

That last point is huge for me, and a big part of why I keep coming. They've also never tried to upsell me on services, always explained to me why they do things, and they're always nice. Also, being able to drive my car straight into the garage, hand off my keys, and walk 10 feet into the waiting room, super appreciated by me, I have a disability and not having to walk and stand in line, it's very helpful. I drive out from Springfield every time because I know they're gonna treat me and my car well.

If you are a woman, I strongly recommend taking your vehicle elsewhere\…read more My experience with this service department was extremely disappointing and concerning\. I was billed for work involving my vehicle, including charges to my warranty, and **work was performed that I did not authorize**\. It took **five separate visits** before the underlying issue was addressed\. On my **fourth visit**, I was specifically assured that my vehicle was **safe to drive**\. I trusted that professional assessment and continued driving the vehicle, including having my children with me\. On my **fifth visit, less than 24 hours later**, I was told that the vehicle was **not safe to drive**\. Thank God nothing happened while my children were in that vehicle\. That change in assessment is extremely concerning\. If the vehicle was not safe to drive, why was I assured less than 24 hours earlier that it was safe? I was also told by the dealership's new car sales manager that, **"Sometimes we have to throw parts at it until we figure out what's wrong with it\."** That statement, particularly in light of the number of visits and the work performed on my vehicle, did not give me confidence that the problem was being properly diagnosed or repaired\. When I questioned why it had taken five visits to resolve the issue, I was met with raised voices rather than a professional explanation\. I also questioned the additional work and requested that the dealership take responsibility for having the resulting issues properly inspected and repaired\. That request was refused\. I am now having to seek an **independent inspection and investigation to determine the full extent of the damage and what repairs may be necessary**\. Customers should be able to trust that work performed on their vehicles has been clearly explained, properly authorized, and completed correctly\. They should also be able to question charges, repairs, and safety concerns without being spoken to disrespectfully\. I strongly recommend that anyone using this service department **document every interaction, verify exactly what work has been authorized, and carefully review all charges and warranty claims**\. This was not simply a disagreement over a repair\. It was a serious breakdown in communication, authorization, diagnosis, customer service, and accountability\. Most importantly, I was given conflicting information about whether my vehicle was safe to drive, and that is something I cannot take lightly when my children are involved\.

Not knowing any local shops, we chose A&J Transmission based on a strong recommendation. Jessie and his team were incredibly accommodating: they promptly got the vehicle to their shop, thoroughly evaluated the issue, and honestly identified it as likely tied to a Kia recall with potential extended warranty coverage (possibly even qualifying for a new engine). Instead of charging for unnecessary work, Jessie advised us to take it to a Kia dealership for warranty support. This level of honesty, integrity, and genuine customer focus in a stressful situation was truly refreshing--they went above and beyond without trying to take advantage.
