Gregory's Coffee Shop is consistently featured on my go-to list. The staff are always courteous and attentive to customer needs. The shop Its self is clean and decor welcoming. I particularly appreciate their menu options for those with food sensitivities; their gluten-free donut bites are quite enjoyable, and the ganache brownie offers just the right balance of chocolate flavor to rise and pistachios. I have tried to order the Sea the Glow several times; however, due to high demand, it is often sold out by the time I arrive. Nevertheless, the menu offers numerous excellent choices, and the Iced Cherry Blossom is one of my favorites--a vegan cold foam over a smooth latte topped with rose petals, which is absolutely delightful. I was asking the young man at the register who was helping me a question about what type of coffee I wanted when one of his coworkers answered in a very loud voice the question that not directed at him. First coffee shop I've experienced in New York City, and I have to say I was impressed! My hotel concierge recommended it, saying it's his favorite coffee nearby. I ordered their signature latte, the Fall Oat Boy, though I am not an oat milk gal and subbed whole milk. The latte was so smooth and flavorful--strong coffee taste, balanced level of sweetness, creative flavor that did not overpower the taste of the coffee. I sat here for several hours writing, enjoying the music and the vibes. It's definitely cute and they have a good upbeat playlist. Lots of seating, which was important to me since I knew I'd be holing up for a while. The baristas were friendly and helpful. We are visiting NYC and decided to try this place since it was relatively close. We ordered a latte, and the salted caramel cold brew along with the New Yorker and the Deluxe. I was disappointed by the cold brew as it was overly sweet and I couldn't taste the coffee at all. It tasted like pure caramel. The food was even more disappointing, with what looked like a store bought bun and essentially ultra processed foods thrown together. If you want something that barely resembles coffee and microwaved fast food, this is your spot. Otherwise, I'm sure there are tons of other places nearby with better food and coffee. read more

I'm new to NYC and came into the store to find a more quote but active environment to kinda get a feel of what part of town I'm in and nice food spots to visit. It SEEMED fairly crowed when I went in but the first thing I noticed was the crew laughing behind the stations as they worked which made me feel a bit more confident to approach the cashier with any questions, she actually let me know about a really neat comic shop not too far away and that caused a few others patrons to chime in and recommend a theater not too far away aswell! All in all I really enjoyed the staff working while promoting a casual fun environment and can't wait to come down again (I need recommendations for brooklyn!!!!) when I can! This isn't the worst coffee place in the city, but it's also not the best. In theory, it's a great space to work (sort of.) LOTS of seating room for you and a lap top. The tables are right on top of each other, so it's not the kind of place you go to for coffee with friends or to chill. It's definitely geared more towards come as one and work crowd. At least in the back area, which is the majority of seating space. The problem is that because everyone is so on top of each other, you can become very aware of the other people; like when the person at the table next to you decides to get on the phone and talk with no sense of manors or courtesy. The other problem is that (at least on the day I was there), they play this insipid music that makes you want to bang your head against the table until you pass out because it's mind numbing. Ear pods help for sure. Coffee wise, it's nothing special. I had a cappuccino. Eh. And the people behind the counter seem less than thrilled to be there. Customer friendliness is not their forte. In fact, it was a little annoying. I bought a bottled water when I ordered my coffee. I didn't realize it was in a stand alone refrigerator (which is up at the front), as it looks from the spot you order as if it's behind the counter. When I got my coffee I mentioned I had also purchased a water. She looked at me as if I had just told her I ran over her children and barked at me that it's at the end of the counter, and to go get on. There was no reason for that. A simple, "it's in the counter at the front," in a pleasant voice would have been appreciated. Would I come back? Probably not. It's a typical chain. Honestly, Pret is across the street with as good/bad coffee. And their seating is much roomier and spacious and brightly lit. I don't like this location and I don't like the fact that the guy at the register didn't know how to scan the QR code for points without having a card on file. What's the purpose of having a card on file if I'm using the card in person? I could've just placed an order on the app for all of that. Then he's quiet as a mouse instead of projecting his voice so people can hear the orders that he's calling.
