I'd started to have a…read moremiscarriage Christmas Day, and over the week, we learned enough information about what was happening to me to make a D & C procedure necessary, always popular on a holiday weekend before your insurance coverage changes. The Evergreen ER was slow because they were super-busy, but pretty much everyone I dealt with was professional and caring. Nobody in the ER really stands out as a shining light, though my ER doc, Rand Unger, MD, was pretty damn good, making sure that all of the different steps had been taken as fast as he had the staff to complete them. Dr. Hamilton was great. She talked to my midwife about my situation (and not all MDs are friendly to or even see licensed midwives as professional colleagues, so I'm glad that they have a good relationship). She came downstairs to talk to us at length about exactly what would happen, answering my unusually long list of questions and comforting me without condescending to me... not only is that harder than it sounds but I was a bit of a mess and really needed some gentle, firm talking-to, which I got, without also losing my autonomy as an adult... as I said, she made something very hard happen with grace. She was again friendly and calm in the OR prep area and talked to us with the anesthesiologist. The procedure was probably uneventful; thanks to a large injection of Versed, I have no idea if I was rolled into the lovely OR suite, or what, because I don't remember. :-) I DO remember Dixie, who was the OR nurse who fetched us from the ER and who took care of me through recovery. She was great! She got it all done and wasn't shy about comforting me as I came out of anesthesia, before I could have my husband again. Like I said, a D&C for a miscarriage is no fun for anybody, but if you have to go through it, Dr. Hamilton and Evergreen will do a good job and will help support you emotionally through it without reminding you that 1 in 4 women who get pregnant will have a miscarriage at some point... common as rain from their perspective although the D&C need is something like 1 in 500. Yay me. Lucky. Etc. Not. Recovery, btw, is much enhanced with the addition of Vicodin, even in small quantities. :-)

I mean it still wasn't pleasant having a tooth yanked. But Dr Hseih is very gentle and explains everything, and we all started joking around and I was laughing so hard I forgot about why I was actually there. (Despite having a pair of dental pliers in my mouth haha!) Kailey and Karanjot are also super nice. Just a group of ladies laughing and having a good old time while one has a tooth yanked out of her head by another ‍ My mouth is a mess because I am terrified of dental work and therefore didn't go for an embarrassing amount of time, then my husband found Light Studios. Dr Hseih herself even took the time at my first appt with her a month or 2 ago to go over all the things I need, and why, as well as pricing after my first appointment. I 100% recommend this place and won't go anywhere else.

As a professional in a helping field I know how to communicate in healthcare settings well, even for myself. I was really disheartened to have my issues dismissed like that. I have sought out another provider who took my concerns seriously and got the treatment I needed. I would not recommend this doctor should you have medical issues that are sensitive in nature i.e. anything other than a routine shot or getting antibiotics.

This was a huge improvement over medical professionals who seemed to be guessing at options, which ultimately delivered poor results. Some reviewers seem to be put off that she doesn't sugar-coat things, but I personally prefer that communication style, especially when it will expedite my treatment. Sadly for me, but great for Kaiser members, she has closed her private practice and switched to that team.

Multiple doctors had told me I had a bulging lumbar disk which to me just sounded like "surgery" and was not a very appealing diagnosis without having an MRI. He patted my shoulder and told me he was sorry when he gave me my injection! I was able to listen to a meditation while he efficiently and carefully did the root canal. I had zero anxiety and 100% confidence that he knew what he was doing. I highly recommend his office if you are one of those patients that doesn't like to have dental work done. I must not forget to mention Jonathan, at the front desk desk, who is so kind to not only me, but every patient he comes in contact. He treats every patient like they are the only patient they have. A family member went in with tooth pain and had full X-rays done, but Dr. Marfo still seemed unsure…read morewhat was causing the problem. At first, he said he was 90% sure it was tooth #30. Then, during the same visit, he changed direction and said it might be another tooth. The diagnosis felt all over the place. He recommended pulling tooth #30, and if that did not solve the pain, possibly pulling another tooth next. That is extremely concerning when tooth removal is permanent. Thankfully, we got a second opinion. The new dentist and even his assistant immediately identified the real issue on the X-ray at the root area of the painful tooth. A root canal was needed, with no extractions required. If we had trusted Dr. Marfo's recommendation, my family member could have had teeth pulled unnecessarily, followed by bone grafts, post work, cost, and pain/suffering while the actual problem was left untreated. Based on this experience, I have no confidence in his judgment or treatment planning.

My expensive experience with veneers (to cover chipped teeth) was not a good experience. Benca refused to brighten my veneers and told me if I wanted brighter teeth I just needed to wear red lipstick!!!! I advised her I don't wear lipstick and she didn't know what to say - but she made a lot of money off of that procedure. I also found charges for procedures NOT performed. Scam? I did get those charges removed but I was the one who found the error. Also had a tooth that was loose and care was pushed off for months. Finally came to the only care left which was to remove the tooth. Poor care. Final straw was to finish up an implant. Should have been about 30 minutes for final appointment. Instead the final product was so poorly constructed it took 2 days and 4 office visits to finish the implant! Yes, I should have left a long time ago. For those seeing this dental clinic, GOOD LUCK!

Like many people, I was hesitant to have it treated here because I had seen what other dental practices charge. I was considering waiting until my next trip overseas to have it reset or replaced. Dr. Cho examined it and was able to save the existing bridge and reset it for a very reasonable fee. Other dentists had recommended replacing it entirely at a much higher cost. Dr. Cho and his entire staff were friendly, welcoming, and professional--from the receptionist to everyone else in the office. The entire procedure was comfortable, and the experience was easy on both my mouth and my wallet.
