Somewhere between life's throws and difficulties, there should be a place like Greg's. Burgundy seats, wife open rows of people enjoying dinner or lunch. Deserts that you should order FIRST! Friendly staff and the food is good so a lot of differ a lot of people. You want to bring people you love and enjoy talking to here. No avocado toast. No pretentious pricing. Just a good experience. I always look forward to dessert. read more

Had the Manhattan deli sandwich. It was ok but was rather small. The fries would have been much better had they been cooked for a few more minutes. They serve Pepsi products so I count that as a bad thing. read more

Worst Reuben I've ever had. I'm sorry I tipped the takeout girl $1.50. I checked the bag before I left and they hadn't put my fries in there. Then, the most pitiful amount of fries ever was tossed in. The sandwich had no cheese on it ... and barely any Saeurkraut or thousand island. It was basically a corn beef sandwich. Plain. WTF! Also, the pickles tasted like cucumber slices. I just got spanked ... hard. $17 and it sucked! read more

Very disappointed. Went to "tavern"' was a bunch of bartenders when we went in, they all disappeared. Had baked scallop special recommended by bartender. Scallops under cooked, baked potato hard as a rock and soup was cold and pitafull. Wife enjoyed turkey dinner. Tall bartender was very nice. Wont go back read more

Warm family friendly atmosphere. Great food and with the portions a truly phenomenal value. Of course would be remiss if I didn't mention the excellent desserts! My favorites are the chicken cutlet dinner with brown gravy, with an eclair to finish. Expect to bring something home. read more

I finally went out to a restaurant and ate inside. It has been four months. A long four months. Gregg's restaurant went over and above to make sure that everyone in our party was accommodated. I think the waitress was just as happy to see us as we were to see her. I had my traditional fish and chips, delicious as always. The fish was crispy on the outside but moist and tender in the inside. And of course I had to have their delicious pickles. Someone else in our group had the chicken Parm and said it was even better than they remembered it, and someone else ate salmon encrusted with honey and other toppings. It was delicious. I felt comfortable, the restaurant was very clean. I was far enough away from everyone that I did not feel like my space with being invaded. They had a separate entrance for in restaurant diners. It felt strange, but very comfortable. Restrooms are clean as always, plenty of sanitizer and I noticed every waiter and waitress was constantly cleaning everything. Our waitress was a upbeat and personable and made our dining experience pleasurable. Even parking was separated from the takeout diners. We were so far from our dinner that we couldn't have dessert. I'm not sure what would've been offered as I never left corner of the restaurant Where I was seated,to see any of the desserts. I guess you could say that I felt really safe dining out there. read more

We went to Gregg's in Warwick Sunday night. Decided to sit in the Tavern. There were empty seats at the bar. We waited behind two stools for the area to be cleaned and for a check to be picked up. Three workers were behind the bar. Each one was occupied. I realize that patience is needed in restaurants with the shortage of help. We stood there waiting to sit, or at least be addressed by someone. No one said a word or looked at us. Not even a hello or "we'll be right with you." Were we invisible? After about ten minutes one of the workers, without looking up, said: You wanna sit down? At that we just left which seemed to be fine with the three workers. read more

I saw some good and bad reviews. Most of the bad reviews are from people who like chain restaurants like Chili's so their understanding of quality has not yet matured. I've been coming to Greggs for the last 35 years. The food is very good. Its not bland, just not overly spicy, but if you want that go to On the Border or someplace else. If you want consistency, good food, quality, value and awesome desserts give it a try. The service is good, and its comfortable. Its always packed, and its not just old people that go there. This is a BIG misconception. Its mostly families and people in the 35-55 year old range that frequent the restaurant. Pros: Good comfort food like meat pies, turkey dinners, chicken cutlets, chowder and chocolate layer cake. Cons: I can't think of any. read more

Greggs is a great place, very consistent. Used to come here all the time when I lived in RI for the fish and chips. IMHO the best fish and chips going. I started with the NE clam Chowder and it was very good. I had the baked sea scallops and my wife had the fish and chips. Since I'm celiac now I got the scallops without the crumb cover and they were just bland. Not really their fault but I regretted my choice. Wife had the fish and chips and the fish was over cooked. Still tasty but a little too done for my taste. Service good and price is great. read more

Really thought this was going to be good down home food, but sadly it was like hospital food. Literally not a pinch of salt on anything. I had grilled chicken, broccoli, a salad, and a cup of chicken noodle soup. It was so bland you would think I was on a high blood pressure diet. The restaurant was busy and I honestly couldn't understand why, but the service was really friendly so I'm sure that has something to do with it. If there was more spice and salt it would greatly improve my rating. read more

Iconic! We ate so much good food and yet didn't spend a huge amount of money. I had a strawberry sundae - this is not a common find in most restaurants! We loved Charlene, our server. Love the thanksgiving sandwich and death by chocolate cake. You can never go wrong with food or dessert from Greggs!

I have to admit that upon entering the restaurant, the smell of seafood on carpet floods the nostrils and if you're not prepared for it, it makes for a less of an appetite feeling. I went with the calamari appetizer and the Summer Picnic Salad. It really isn't that hard to get those two wrong but they were average. I mean, I won't go there again just to have a salad that I can have anywhere else. Nothing stood out except the desserts! Huge desserts in terms of portion. Great all American taste. read more

Crowded on a Wednesday, parking lot was packed. I ran in to pick up my to go order of chowder, the area was packed and I had to wait about 10 minutes before finally getting my order. Young boy apologized for the wait which was appreciated and I was on my way. Chowder was good! read more

I have been taking my family to Gregg's since they opened. The inside of the restaurant is exceptionally clean and get ready to read a very long menu with all of your favorites listed. They always give us a private room when my grandchildren have a birthday and be sure to ask for Debbie to take care of you. The rest of the staff are very friendly and professional. Please save room for their deserts which are amazing. The prices are easily in line if not better than their competition. You will be more than satisfied you went here. read more

We love Greggs, the food is always great and I love that the atmosphere is consistently old school and inviting. I hadn't been to this Gregg's yet but we had a great experience today. I'm also a sucker for the pickles. We will definitely visit this location again! read more

Last night, Wednesday January 1, my mom and I went to Greggs Restaurant in Warwick, RI., as we usually do on our way back from visiting my Dad on a weekly basis. We have been going to Gregg's for well over 40 years. Never a problem until last night. First we were placed in the back icorner of the restaurant. Then our waitress was a young girl who was in a hurry and a bit rude. She took our order wrong, gave my mother the wrong soup we had to ask for napkins several times finally someone gave us a stack. She threw the 6 pickles and two rolls on the table never asking if we wanted our coffee refilled or anything. While we were waiting 2 girls came in after us ordered and got their food in 15 minutes and we were waiting for well over 1/2 hour. Finished with our soup and freezing we waited for someone to clear off the dishes and offer us coffee and service. When she finally returned after making coffee for others and waiting on her three tables (not us) we told her, the coffee was not refilled, my mother's soup was not what she ordered and we were disappointed and unsatisfied with her service. We just got our order to go. She never apologized or offered us any solution to the situation. We were disgusted. No apology, no free dessert or deduction from the bill. My mom is 93 years old. Putting us in the back of a partially filled restaurant was the first mistake and giving us an incompetent and disrespectful waitress was the 2nd mistake. As long term consistent, loyal and good customers, I have to say we will not be going to ANY GREGGS RESTAURANTS for a very very long time. I am going to copy and place this review on Yelp as well. Your food is good but your customer service is terrible and without customer support and satisfaction I believe your clientele and reputation is slipping. Thank you in advance for your time. Sincerely, Elaine Messier. read more

Caught a late night flight into Warwick and was looking for a place to grab a burger near our hotel. Read some average reviews, but couldn't find any other place open, so we figured... "screw it... let's just go to Gregg's". The burger was good but unremarkable (definitely wasn't medium rare as I ordered). The onion rings were lackluster. But the baked potato was money in the bank. We couldn't help but notice the dessert options, so we figured we'd splurge... the chocolate layer cake was average. The lemon meringue pie was stellar. In the end, Gregg's is the Rhode Island version of an aging Perkin's restaurant. read more

Gregg's had always been my go to since I was in High School. Now that I live in Warwick it is very accessible. A week ago I took out a roast beef sandwich. Boy was I dissatisfied. The Rye was soggy, I asked for toasted. The roast beef was just thrown in the middle of the bread in a ball, overcooked and tasted like cardboard!! The fries were put in closed box so they were soggy, Yuck!! I didnt think it was possible to mess up a sandwich of any kind, but they did!! Will never go again. Too many restaurants in RI. read more

Won't be ordering dessert from here again! I wasted $30 on a birthday cake for my Nana's birthday that didn't come the way it's described on the website. I should have checked the cake before I left. The cake had a dent right in the middle, the message on the cake looked like someone smeared it with their fingers, and there was no pudding filling between the layers. They just put a thin layer of the cake frosting between two of the layers. I will give it to them that the cake was nice and moist but had no flavor otherwise. At least my Nana liked it but I was extremely disappointed with what I got for that amount of money. I should have just bought a sheet cake at Wal-Mart. I'll have to remember that for next time. read more

I have four words for you DEATH. BY. CHOCOLATE. CAKE. Stopped by to pick up some dinner to go after a long and busy day. Deserts where large portions, appealing to the eyes with many options. As for the food, I can not say the same. I ordered a side of onion rings that I could not eat due to the taste of the oil (it seemed like they were fried in old oil). The rest of our food was good. Over all, the staff was pleasant, made us aware that our order was going to take XX amount of time to prepare. We were given everything but utensils ( no big deal ). On a positive note, one more reason not to feed into some unhealthy fried onion rings cravings. :) This restaurant is big, it's usually packed with customer, plenty of parking on the lot and across the street. read more

Came here to meet a friend who lives in the area. Was pleasantly surprised with the food and service. Our server was really nice and kept giving us time to pick our food considering we were chatting a ton! We ordered sweet potato fries with ranch to start and they were perfectly cooked and the ranch just made them that much better! My friend got the sweet salad which she raved about and looked delicious. I got the chicken pesto focaccia with a side salad which had a ton of flavor. The side salad was basically lettuce with dressing, which wasn't that impressive but bearable. Would definitely recommend this place for a bite to eat if your in the area, they have both the restaurant and tavern area depending on which environment suits your party best! read more

A go-to restaurant of Rhode Island, you can't really go wrong here. Have been going here since I was a kid. If you're from the area, call in a take-out meal. Still the same quality of food as if you were there. My go-to is a California roll-up or summer picnic salad. Eating in or dining out you MUST get both rolls and pickles. THEY ROCK. I have friends who have moved away from RI that crave Gregg's rolls and pickles. If you're aiming for dessert, you NEED to have a Death By Chocolate cake. It's so good that its President Obama's favorite cake! A chocolate cake covered in chocolate frosting and chocolate chips. I'm not the biggest chocolate cake fan, but I will live and die by Death by Chocolate. If you're looking for something not chocolatey, though, their bakery is top-notch. You can buy full cakes/pies or just slices. read more

I really used to love this place -- open late, inexpensive specials, and reliable home-style comfort food. So it pains me to leave such a critical review after so many years of satisfying meals. But our most recent experience here was flat out terrible. First, they forgot the dinner rolls and pickles... again. Then along came our calamari appetizer which was alarmingly mushy, a hamburger that was gritty and flavorless, and an order of chicken and biscuits which was mostly a giant bowl of instant mashed potatoes drowning in a canned vegetable gravy chock full of... more potatoes! And our well-meaning server -- an overworked trainee -- overcharged us when she confused our gift card for a frequent dining card. It feels like Gregg's has become that once favorite, eccentric aunt who can't remember your name any more. (Or maybe that's just the current clientele.) I hope time hasn't passed Gregg's by. read more

Greggs is a hit or miss depending on location. While their wraps and salads are great lunch options when dining out with the coworkers, overall, their food is honestly mediocre. Not bad, not great: it just is. Their bakery goods certainly aren't terrible, but again, a bit overrated. While I much prefer the Pawtucket location, I've passed through this location enough times to leave me.. confused. After hearing the constant raves and hurrah's for their strawberry cheesecake, the fiancee, myself and three other buddies stopped by late one recent Wednesday evening. Dreary and dark, the dining area was all but totally empty. After an oddly random five minute wait at our table, the waitress appeared, took our drink orders (four waters & one soda) and hurriedly left us sans menu, silverware or those funky little paper place mates. No connect the dots for moi. Chatting it up and relaxing, we quickly lost track of time before I realized it had been nearly fifteen minutes since the drinks were ordered and still not a sign of our waitress in sight. Finally, after Charlie flagged her down, she plopped our beverages down, menus in hand. Before pulling her disappearing act and much to her irritation, we placed our orders, all dessert & one appetizer. Again, we waited. Time trickled by, minutes ticked on. The dining floor still empty & after nearly twenty minutes had rolled past, I finally spoke to the hostess who shuffled somewhere in the back. Eventually the waitress finally appeared with our food, a cool attitude and, well, rushed off before leaving us silverware. And thus, after another unnecessarily long wait, flagging down any employee who passed on our radars and eventually receiving the check, we left our payment sans decent tip and headed out to the parking lot. We had barely made it to our cars when the waitress actually dashed out the front door and called us over waiving the check. For a moment I thought we had short changed the total by accident before I overheard her angrily asking about the tip. ("That's it??") Yeah. That's it. The cheesecake was decently priced but was a little too wet for my tastes while the strawberry topping was typical. (I prefer my cheesecake firm.) As for the service? ...No. I'll pass. read more

Greggs is a classic in RI. If you can't find something you like from here then you're crazzy!! The appetizer platter is so good with their homemade sweet & sour sauce (which is by far my favorite sauce) they have a full bar with fun drinks. Best of all is their cakes/desserts. I've had their cake's for my birthday probably every year since I was little. There is nothing like it...even if you go just for dessert it is worth it!!! read more

I'm going to get real with you about Gregg's. This restaurant has been open FOR-EVER. I can remember going here after father daughter dances and dance recitals as a little girl. There is really nothing to exciting about Gregg's menu. It is simple food, and they do an ok job with it most of the time. The elderly love Gregg's and I am sure that they are keeping this place in business. I drive by and the parking lot is always full of cars. I'm never one to announce "Hey, Let's go to Gregg's for dinner" but I will tell you the things they do exceptionally well. Here is my list in no real order. 1. Pickles :These are really more of a cucumber than a pickle but they are delicious and perfect and if you ask they will bring them out with your rolls. I could make a meal out of these alone. 2. Dessert. -Gregg's has 5 star dessert. From cheesecake to the Death by Chocolate and apple crisp they have mastered all things sweet. 3. Club sandwiches. Greggs does make a mean club. When I am craving a club sandwich they are still my go to. The moral of the story is Gregg's really just means tradition in RI speak. If it was gone I would miss it. Gregg's will always be there for you when you need chocolate cake, and as a true female I never take that for granted. read more
