I finally went out to a restaurant and ate inside. It has been four months. A long four months. Gregg's restaurant went over and above to make sure that everyone in our party was accommodated. I think the waitress was just as happy to see us as we were to see her. I had my traditional fish and chips, delicious as always. The fish was crispy on the outside but moist and tender in the inside. And of course I had to have their delicious pickles. Someone else in our group had the chicken Parm and said it was even better than they remembered it, and someone else ate salmon encrusted with honey and other toppings. It was delicious. I felt comfortable, the restaurant was very clean. I was far enough away from everyone that I did not feel like my space with being invaded. They had a separate entrance for in restaurant diners. It felt strange, but very comfortable. Restrooms are clean as always, plenty of sanitizer and I noticed every waiter and waitress was constantly cleaning everything. Our waitress was a upbeat and personable and made our dining experience pleasurable. Even parking was separated from the takeout diners. We were so far from our dinner that we couldn't have dessert. I'm not sure what would've been offered as I never left corner of the restaurant Where I was seated,to see any of the desserts. We went to Gregg's in Warwick Sunday night. Decided to sit in the Tavern. There were empty seats at the bar. We waited behind two stools for the area to be cleaned and for a check to be picked up. Three workers were behind the bar. Each one was occupied. I realize that patience is needed in restaurants with the shortage of help. We stood there waiting to sit, or at least be addressed by someone. No one said a word or looked at us. Not even a hello or "we'll be right with you." Were we invisible? After about ten minutes one of the workers, without looking up, said: You wanna sit down? At that we just left which seemed to be fine with the three workers. read more

Thank you for responding and attempting to clear things up... but you pretty much told me i was wrong at every turn. I have phots from my grandmothers birthday party... with a carrot cake, sides frosted. Maybe it was a mistake, but it was a good mistake and because of that- my family fell in love with the carrot cake. We switched to chocolate cake about 10 years ago, but when my daughter reminded me about the carrot cake we wanted to switch back. we saw the cake without frosting so we simply always requested additional frosting on the side and were more than happy to pay for the extra. We just have had issues, for about the last year or so with actually receiving said frosting. That was my issue, paying for and requesting something ... and then not receiving it. As far as the pickles- TY for the clarification but as i stated, I ordered the pickles by size, expected to pay for said pickles... and there was always a mistake. Either being charged for the wrong size or receiving the wrong size. As far as the college and high school kids etc... I am more than happy to support the community, as I also employ a diverse group of employees... what I am talking about is accountability as well as ability to resolve any issues. I know mistakes happen. Restaurants are fast paced and can be hectic. I get it. But it's the same reason I proactively repeat the order, have it read to me, and also check my order in person before leaving. read more

Greggs is a great place, very consistent. Used to come here all the time when I lived in RI for the fish and chips. IMHO the best fish and chips going. I started with the NE clam Chowder and it was very good. I had the baked sea scallops and my wife had the fish and chips. Since I'm celiac now I got the scallops without the crumb cover and they were just bland. Not really their fault but I regretted my choice. Wife had the fish and chips and the fish was over cooked. I have been taking my family to Gregg's since they opened. The inside of the restaurant is exceptionally clean and get ready to read a very long menu with all of your favorites listed. They always give us a private room when my grandchildren have a birthday and be sure to ask for Debbie to take care of you. The rest of the staff are very friendly and professional. I saw some good and bad reviews. Most of the bad reviews are from people who like chain restaurants like Chili's so their understanding of quality has not yet matured. I've been coming to Greggs for the last 35 years. The food is very good. Its not bland, just not overly spicy, but if you want that go to On the Border or someplace else. If you want consistency, good food, quality, value and awesome desserts give it a try. The service is good, and its comfortable. Its always packed, and its not just old people that go there. This is a BIG misconception. Its mostly families and people in the 35-55 year old range that frequent the restaurant. We love Greggs, the food is always great and I love that the atmosphere is consistently old school and inviting. I hadn't been to this Gregg's yet but we had a great experience today. "screw it... let's just go to Gregg's". The burger was good but unremarkable (definitely wasn't medium rare as I ordered). The onion rings were lackluster. But the baked potato was money in the bank. Last night, Wednesday January 1, my mom and I went to Greggs Restaurant in Warwick, RI., as we usually do on our way back from visiting my Dad on a weekly basis. We have been going to Gregg's for well over 40 years. Never a problem until last night. First we were placed in the back icorner of the restaurant. Then our waitress was a young girl who was in a hurry and a bit rude. She took our order wrong, gave my mother the wrong soup we had to ask for napkins several times finally someone gave us a stack. She threw the 6 pickles and two rolls on the table never asking if we wanted our coffee refilled or anything. While we were waiting 2 girls came in after us ordered and got their food in 15 minutes and we were waiting for well over 1/2 hour. Finished with our soup and freezing we waited for someone to clear off the dishes and offer us coffee and service. When she finally returned after making coffee for others and waiting on her three tables (not us) we told her, the coffee was not refilled, my mother's soup was not what she ordered and we were disappointed and unsatisfied with her service. We just got our order to go. She never apologized or offered us any solution to the situation. We were disgusted. No apology, no free dessert or deduction from the bill. My mom is 93 years old. Putting us in the back of a partially filled restaurant was the first mistake and giving us an incompetent and disrespectful waitress was the 2nd mistake. As long term consistent, loyal and good customers, I have to say we will not be going to ANY GREGGS RESTAURANTS for a very very long time. I am going to copy and place this review on Yelp as well. Really thought this was going to be good down home food, but sadly it was like hospital food. Literally not a pinch of salt on anything. I had grilled chicken, broccoli, a salad, and a cup of chicken noodle soup. It was so bland you would think I was on a high blood pressure diet. The restaurant was busy and I honestly couldn't understand why, but the service was really friendly so I'm sure that has something to do with it. I have to admit that upon entering the restaurant, the smell of seafood on carpet floods the nostrils and if you're not prepared for it, it makes for a less of an appetite feeling. I went with the calamari appetizer and the Summer Picnic Salad. It really isn't that hard to get those two wrong but they were average. Gregg's had always been my go to since I was in High School. Now that I live in Warwick it is very accessible. A week ago I took out a roast beef sandwich. Boy was I dissatisfied. The Rye was soggy, I asked for toasted. The roast beef was just thrown in the middle of the bread in a ball, overcooked and tasted like cardboard!! Won't be ordering dessert from here again! I wasted $30 on a birthday cake for my Nana's birthday that didn't come the way it's described on the website. I should have checked the cake before I left. The cake had a dent right in the middle, the message on the cake looked like someone smeared it with their fingers, and there was no pudding filling between the layers. They just put a thin layer of the cake frosting between two of the layers. I will give it to them that the cake was nice and moist but had no flavor otherwise. At least my Nana liked it but I was extremely disappointed with what I got for that amount of money. I should have just bought a sheet cake at Wal-Mart. Stopped by to pick up some dinner to go after a long and busy day. Deserts where large portions, appealing to the eyes with many options. As for the food, I can not say the same. I ordered a side of onion rings that I could not eat due to the taste of the oil (it seemed like they were fried in old oil). The rest of our food was good. Over all, the staff was pleasant, made us aware that our order was going to take XX amount of time to prepare. We were given everything but utensils ( no big deal ). On a positive note, one more reason not to feed into some unhealthy fried onion rings cravings. :) This restaurant is big, it's usually packed with customer, plenty of parking on the lot and across the street. read more

Came here to meet a friend who lives in the area. Was pleasantly surprised with the food and service. Our server was really nice and kept giving us time to pick our food considering we were chatting a ton! We ordered sweet potato fries with ranch to start and they were perfectly cooked and the ranch just made them that much better! My friend got the sweet salad which she raved about and looked delicious. I got the chicken pesto focaccia with a side salad which had a ton of flavor. The side salad was basically lettuce with dressing, which wasn't that impressive but bearable. A go-to restaurant of Rhode Island, you can't really go wrong here. Have been going here since I was a kid. If you're from the area, call in a take-out meal. Still the same quality of food as if you were there. My go-to is a California roll-up or summer picnic salad. Eating in or dining out you MUST get both rolls and pickles. THEY ROCK. I have friends who have moved away from RI that crave Gregg's rolls and pickles. If you're aiming for dessert, you NEED to have a Death By Chocolate cake. It's so good that its President Obama's favorite cake! A chocolate cake covered in chocolate frosting and chocolate chips. I'm not the biggest chocolate cake fan, but I will live and die by Death by Chocolate. If you're looking for something not chocolatey, though, their bakery is top-notch. Terrible experience last night and never got to sit down. Made a reservation for 6 pm for 9 people. Arrived a bit early and our table wasn't ready. Waited until 10 after and asked again and got a lot of attitude from the man who seemed to be in charge. 5 minutes later he said they were going to put the tables together. 20 after still no sign of him or tables. We left. Went to another restaurant and were seated right away. Obviously he screwed up and instead of taking responsibility he blamed us for arriving 5 minutes early. Haven't been to Greggs in some time. Was expecting a great pub experience. Ordered the chicken club and it was served with precooked nasty bacon and rubbery chicken. I was really shocked by the poor quality. There was a sign on the door that stated supply chain issues will impact your experience. They have for sure. The food was subpar. My wife and I ate at Gregg's on Saturday. She ordered chicken noodle soup and potato skins. I ordered prime rib, salad, and a baked potato. Our waiter never identified himself. I asked for a medium rare prime rib. I was told dinner rolls came with my meal. The waiter asked if we wanted pickles. We said sure, but pickles never showed up. My wife received her soup quickly. I was surprised my salad wasn't served at the same time, but figured it was coming. I was wrong. When my wife was just about done with her soup the waiter arrived with my prime rib and baked potato. I asked about my salad. The waiter seemed confused and said he would get it. In the mean time I began to eat my prime rib and baked potato. The prime rib was overlooked, and there was parts that were impossible to chew or digest. The baked potato was undercooked, and although I had asked for butter only, there was a side of sour cream. When my salad finally showed up I asked about dinner rolls. I was told they'd be a "couple of minutes" longer as they were being cooked. This was about 20 minutes into the meal. The French dressing for the salad was creamy, but very bland. More mayo then anything else. I put my prime rib and potato to the side as I ate the salad. When I was done eating the salad my meal had cooled significantly. The prime rib was tough and dry. I ran out of au jus about half way through eating it. When I pushed aside my meal the waiter showed up again. I knew he was around as I could hear him chatting with another table who appeared to be people he knew. I mentioned the dinner rolls again. Finally I was given bread after everything else had been served and I was done eating. My expectation for a decent meal goes in this order - bread, salad, and meal. At Gregg's the order was meal, salad, and then bread. Forget dessert...I was done. My wife's soup was okay. The potato skins were undercooked. She didn't even eat half of them. My wife had eaten at Gregg's many years ago. She had vague, but positive memories. Needless to say we won't be eating here ever again. Don't waste your money. read more

This is an old fashioned casual family restaurant (though with a full bar) - nothing fancy - with customers of all ages. The wait staff is in uniforms and the place is huge. The food was fairly basic -- a variety of items on the menu. Bavarian pretzel was huge, but sort of tasteless. French onion soup was good. Chicken parmesan was over cooked and had a jarred sauce taste to it. I love their field greens salad and house made blue cheese dressing. My hubs gets an order of meatballs. You may think meatball at Greggs? Yes! you won't be disappointed. A nice flavored meatball and the sauce is really very good. There are so many really good choices. I love the salmon topped with a honey glaze and pecans with wild rice. Tip: ask for the skin to be removed if it skeezes you out like me. Baked scallops are another solid option. Love a baked sweet potato as a side. Fish & chips are nice fluffy white fish. The French dip sandwich is a fave when I don't want a huge meal. Now for one of the best items at Greggs ....desserts!! If you love chocolate just get the death by chocolate!
