You bring the party - BYOB (you have to purchase their chasers) and either a shared table or if you're lucky enough, you get your own spot. Went for the first time on a Saturday night and it was ok. Every table was occupied and people seemed to be enjoying themselves. Security took care of us and made sure we had somewhere to sit. The hookah was really strong so expect a buzz and the wings were really good. The service could be better - it's not like they had much to do outside of replacing coals and bringing chasers. The DJ was actually pretty good - atleast I was dancing. Might not be the greatest business model but roughly $100+ to bring your own bottles and smoke their hookah isn't bad compared to regular table service prices of $300+ min for a bottle you can get out the liquor store.

As we stood in the non-existent line we got a peek into the lounge and it was completely empty. My sister and I were only in Baltimore for the night, we had come from a concert. It was around 9:45/10 pm. If we were in DC or southern Maryland at any place that offered good hookah it would have been packed. So this leads me to believe they are taxing customers at this establishment because they don't get many. I looked dark, empty and dingy inside. Not so appealing especially with their price demands. So we decided to call an uber and find somewhere else to go. The security did let us know it was BYOB so if you decide to go her bring your drink and chase of choice.

I found out about The Back Yard from locals who lived in Pigtown when I went to Pickett Brewing. I don't live too far from Pigtown but it was nice to see some restaurants popping up near Hollins Market. We met the bartender, Hailey and the owner, Mike. I can see this is a local bar and restaurant since it sounded like everyone knew each other. We seated ourselves and ordered our food. My significant other had the 7 spicy chili and I had the kielbasa and pretzel. I didn't each lunch so I was pretty hungry. There was so much I wanted to try on the menu. My friends really enjoyed the place and food. We will be back.

The food and vibes are just really chill. By the looks of the bar, you would just think they would serve your regular of the mill pub food. Um, no. This place has the best charcuterie, tinned fish( for my tinned fish lovers). Best beer and wine list by far. Not to mention they have plenty of game boards and this bar is doggie friendly, so you are bound to see all kinds of cute fur babies. During the summer months the alley way patio is dope as well. They also have awesome weekly specials. The menu is pretty extensive really nice sandwiches and delicious salads. Their soft pretzel with hot kielbasa is a fave here. It also comes with mini pickles and different types of stone ground mustard . Next time I will try that. This evening I just got a greens and grains bowl with pepper salmon, sooo delicious. They also put confit tomatoes in the salad. A nice touch. I will always come to the Backyard for food and good vibes, especially to unwind after work. So if you are in the Pigtown neighborhood, come to Backyard. You will not be disappointed

A lively dive bar with almost nightly live-music…read more I used to frequent Morsberger's in the old days. Now it's a brighter livelier place, still showing off it's divey decor. You can enter on Main Street, or from the back patio. For the full dive-effect, I like to come directly from the old iron staircase in the back, halfway up to the patio, past the original tiny old restrooms and the ice machine. (There's nicer restrooms on the performance / pool-table side.) I looked in on the pool-table side where bands play regularly. There's seating there for around 30, mostly used when bands are playing or by pool-players or when the bar side is full. There's some benches out on the patio for warmer weather and for smoking. The walls are covered with old rock memorabilia, and i love the bar side where there are old albums on the ceiling too! Plus a collection of old stuff over the years that defies description. The bar seats maybe 15. I always sit on the bar side, where it's usually dimly lit. You can get basic mixed drinks and some premium spirits, and plenty of varieties of beers, some craft, some old regulars. They have a small kitchen, too. I usually just get a cold Natty Boh and watch some sports on their several tvs, or talk to anyone I know, or anyone who happens to be nearby. This time i got there on a Thursday after 5 and it was pretty quiet, between the regulars who finish around 4pm and the music-lovers who come after 6 or 7. This time I was one-and-done. I've been here for some rock, and mostly for a more Catonsvillian variety of punk and metal, sometimes every night!, though usually not Mondays. Sometimes there's a cover. It's usually good bands, with a lively crowd, some from the nearby college. There's a small number of parking spaces straight out back, only on their side of the alleys, and leaving the spaces behind the deck for the apartments to the east. The out-front street parking is pay at-the-meter or by-app during Mon-Sat 8-6, and otherwise free.
