Dr Sakamoto and Eric are very professional, personable and caring. I cannot say the same for their staff which on multiple occasions has shown to be impatient when I ask them questions on the phone. I literally have heard them sighing on the phone with rudeness and responses preceding with "Like I said . . . " The last one had a high-pitched voice and didn't project her voice, so I asked her to repeat what she said. She sighs and gives me the as I just mentioned bit when lo and behold, she is calling to reschedule a July appt. No wonder I couldn't put 2n2 together. Her quiet voice coupled with the fact that it is the first week of April, I never thought she'd be calling me about a July date. I don't know why I haven't done a review for Dr. Sakamoto. He is one of the most down to earth physician I have ever met. Not only is he smart as heck, but he will do his best to accommodate his patients and make them feel comfortable. His staff works very well together and are very efficient. Dr. Paul Takiguchi also works here part time on Wednesday afternoons and Saturdays. Everyone who saw him in his Pali Momi private practice were saddened when he announced his retirement. Having Dr. T working there gives patients the opportunity to see two wonderful physicians! I wish I could say the same if I was ever able to meet the Doctors but I would not know since I couldn't get past the referral process. The staff I spoke to didn't make my process easy for me or my son who has been having skin issues for a while and needed to be addressed. I finally found another clinic thankfully and their staff actually called my insurance company and got the referral number when this clinic didn't think to do anything. This made me do all the run arounds and was unprofessional to me. I'm glad I did not go here because I would love to be in a place where I feel belonged. Dr. Sakamoto and his staff are fantastic! I have seen Dr. Sakamoto multiple times before the pandemic and once during the pandemic (via virtual visit). He's always on time, attentive, and knowledgeable. I recently had to try get a day-of appointment for a pesky zit. Dr. Sakamoto was all booked but his PA, Eric, had an opening. I loved Eric! He's super nice and easy to talk to. He is experienced and answered all my questions. I wanted to get a cortisone shot for my zit since it was red and painful. He did a great job with it. I've been going to Dr Sakamoto for the past two years and I can understand why he has five stars on Yelp. I used to be a frequent bodyboarder back in the day when I was a young doe and Dr Sakamoto has always been gracious, patient and kind towards my hypochondriac thoughts about getting skin cancer. He's taken care of my moles, eczema and always eases my mind with skin cancer checks. I like how convenient it is to get an appointment with his office. I used to go to another dermatologist but his appointments were always a month or more from the date of my call. With Dr Sakamoto's office I usually get an appointment within a couple weeks. Just another review to tell you all about how great he is. I'm sure you all have seen all these other 5 star reviews but I like rewarding doctors for being kind and understanding. I had a funny painful red spot on my heel. It was extremely dry as well. Left it alone for a week because I thought it was just another random sore. The sore wouldn't go away. Did the one thing I normally would never do, which is Google, and it turned out it was a simple plantar wart. Most of the time, it's hard to take it out yourself, so I called the doctor's office as soon as I found out about this. Doctor was booked! Had to get an appointment in a week, but that's ok, apparently these things don't cause problems if they're by themselves. Doctor does convenient EARLY MORNING appointments so you can see him before you go to work. Saw him at 6:40 AM, checked in and I was immediately talking to him in a few minutes. He looked at the weird spot on my foot and instantly diagnosed plantar wart. I asked him what my options are and he said cryotherapy with liquid nitrogen is the easiest and least invasive. For wart removal in general, what the doctor does is he scrapes away the dry skin that forms around the wart, and then he shoots a can of cold stuff directly at the wart, killing the virus (a variant of Herpes by the way!). He warned me it would sting and be painful, but if you've had a vaccination done or had blood drawn, it's much less painful than that. The feeling is unpleasant but definitely not tear-worthy. Before I was about to leave I also told doctor about a skin tag I had on my chest (it's like a bit of skin that just hangs off your regular skin). He did the same thing - shot the cold stuff on it. That's it! Both the tag and the wart will eventually fall off and I'll get to be as happy as a clam. Parking is relatively cheap. Very easy to access if you come in the morning - you can park right next to the entrance to the lobby. Since it's POB 3 the building is very modern and up to date, very bright and open atmosphere. Five stars again and again for the "bedside" manner of all Dr. Sakamoto's staff, and the doctor himself, of course! We found Dr. Sakamoto almost six years ago when my 17-year old son had serious acne. At that time, Dr. S prescribed Acutane with AMAZING results. At 23, his skin is still clear. We had less success with myself and my daughter when it came to the magic potion for our acne and my aging skin. Dr. S no longer takes the risk of prescribing Acutane and my daughter is still fighting the scarring of her teenage acne (And I'm still aging. Sigh.) Speaking of aging, this review was brought to you by a not-so-lovely but rather small skin tag that made its home at the lash line under my left eye (you'll forgive me for sparing the Yelp-sphere a picture of that, I'm sure!). A quick snip and that bad boy was gone! And I look, well, the same. We did discuss laser treatments for both my aging dark spots and my daughters acne scarring, and will likely book those appointments within a few weeks. Wish us luck...and beautiful skin!! read more

It's been 3 years since my last visit to Dr. Sakamoto and the 5 star rating still stands. I've had an on and off cycle of a weird rash that seemed to be spreading! But enough about the gross stuff... I called a couple months before my most recent appointment, no one picked up but I left a message. The rash ended up getting better before I heard back. But when it started up again and lasted for a couple weeks, my boyfriend told me I should get it checked. I called and was seen that day! Nice~ I was in and out of the office so quickly! Not to mention how efficiently my rash was diagnosed as eczema :( Dr. Sakamoto had my prescription sent to the pharmacy of my choice, and it was ready to pick up within 20 mins! Dr. Sakamoto is on of my favorite doctor's out there! His office is located in POB III building. I had several questions (don't want to get into detail). He sits down and really listens to you. He explains to you in full detail, which I love about him. You will NOT feel rushed. If there is a minor problem that he can do it right then, then he will ask if you want to take care of it today. I've been to another dermatologist in the west side and she didn't really suggest anything other than wear sunscreen and don't worry about it. However, Dr. Sakamoto said he can take it off today if I want to. Of course I went for it. So glad! I recommend Dr. Sakamoto to everyone! His staff are all friendly and nice there too. read more

Thanks to my health insurance coverage with HMSA, I now have the option to come here. I booked an appointment and it was a month out. I had to wait and wait, but I did not make an appointment anywhere else solely based off the 5 stars here. I did some research on the doctors here, Paul and Greg and they seemed more than excellent to take care of my acne. Didn't see much reviews for acne here, but my acne is severe and I wanted to take action. I at first met with Greg Sakamoto, a VERY kind, helpful and very intelligent man--he really cared for me. And I was very hesitant to speak about my acne as it's a sensitive topic for me, but speaking with him was very comfortable. He did all he could knowing how badly I wanted to get my acne under control. He's not in charge of the Acutane regime, so he referred me to his partner Paul Takeuchi, and I was scheduled to come back the same week. When i returned it was just as great as the first visit. He spoke briefly about the Acutane as to how it wasn't my first time on it and that sometimes most people have to do it more than 2-4 times for it to fully work. In my case, it seems that will be what I'll be doing. But for now, I'll be doing it for six months and visiting their office monthly. Highly recommend this place. Appointments can be early, but parking in the structure is available for $2-3 and it's a very mellow building. read more

Dr. Sakamoto is not accepting new patients on July 2023, so he recommended Dr. Dylan Lee (maybe a student of his). I took my son there to get rid of a mole above his lips. Dr. Lee said it's free since this is our first time. However, I received a $148 lab fee a month later. I called Lee's office and the receptionist said that's their common procedure to send things to the lab. But I wasn't being informed of it. Go to him only if you want to pay a hidden fee. read more

I guess we went at a good time because we went in, checked in & had to fill out 'new patient' forms BUT we didn't wait at all. I sat down wrote a couple words & we got called in right away. I mean we got there and nobody was there. We were the only patients. So service was real easy & quick. We went in because my 1 year old son had this skin virus under his chin that was spreading towards his chest. We went to see his primary doctor and he said it would eventually go away on it's own. However, we couldn't wait because of how quickly it was spreading. So, we couldn't get an appointment soon enough (it was like months out for an appointment at the dermatologist we were supposed to see) so we got referred to Dr. Greg Sakamoto. His staff is so friendly! His nurse, Anne, was very nice & she tried to calm & talk to my toddler just to she would get all the information she needed which were photos & she simply just had to see where the affected area was. Anyway, just one look at it & Dr. Sakamoto already knew what it was. He knew meds to use and what procedure to do. He was well on it and I we are truly grateful for being referred to him. By the way, this visit happened a little over a month ago. Today, he has maybe one or two spots (virus) which we were warned may occur during the process of treating it. I called about 2 weeks before the actual appointment. I chose Dr. Sakamoto based on the Yelp reviews and true to form, was not disappointed. May helped to schedule the appointment and was super sweet and helpful. I was so excited to go and after talking to my husband, he asked to go too. I called back within the same hour and was able to get him an appointment as well. May guided me on information to pre-print and fill in the initial forms, also told me what i documents I needed to present upon arrival, which both were helpful. Parking- we have a rather large SUV that would not have cleared their parking garage, the attendant allowed us to park in the uncovered but ticketed lot right next to the entrance of the garage. Prior to leaving, we paid at the booth and just pressed the intercom to let us out Alana was the nurse who captured our profile photos and prepped us for Dr. Sakamoto. Super welcoming and nice. Dr. Sakamoto is as knowledgeable and friendly as the reviews stated, even more so. He gave me some helpful information and did more for us than we could have imagined. Today was my first visit to Dr. Sakamoto's office and I must say, it was a pleasant experience. I was greeted by the receptionist...and we had a nice personal conversation before I had to fill out the necessary paper work. I didn't know what to put on a few of the questions, but they said it was fine, and that they'd go over it with me later. I got called in by May, who greeted me with a great smile and handshake. I went to the room and she asked me about my rash. I explained and she listened. Then, Dr. Sakamoto came in. With a name like Dr. Sakamoto, I was expecting an old Japanese guy...but it turned out to be a younger hapa looking guy! LoL. What a surprise. He asked questions, I asked questions, it was all good. I could tell that he really wanted me to "get well soon" and was interested in what kind of person I was....instead of just treating me like another whatever-patient that walked through. Really great doctor! Friendly. Great bed side manners, and gives lots of information. Came in to get a mole on my face that was growing checked. He was able to do a mole extraction that same day. And I found out him and my husband knew each other from high school (while he was extracting my mole)! Small world. I don't highly recommend a lot of places or doctors but I do highly recommend Dr. Sakamoto. I would give 10 starts if I could. read more

FYI this doctor says that insurance does not cover skin tag removal with local anesthetics and will snip the tags off with a scissors...even thought there were a lot to remove. He didn't even use a sterilizing agent to clean my skins prior to snipping them off. Additionally He didn't seem interested in me coming in to see him for my services. If you're looking for a dermatologist, then look no further. Dr. Greg Sakamoto is the person to see. Made an appointment to check on a dark spot on my lip and left the office with the spot removed. He's quick, thorough and took care of my issue in the same visit. He made me feel comfortable, explained every step of the procedure and reassured me that everything looked ok, but will call me in a few days anyway. I couldn't ask for a better experience. AMAZING! His office is located in Queens POB3. There is a parking structure in that building, however the parking height restriction is 6 feet. So if you have a bigger vehicle, I would suggest parking at POB2 which is at the top of the hill. They have some oversize vehicle parking and 6'6 restriction. All the queens parking garages are connected and they don't validate anyway. They also offer telehealth visits if it's more convenient for you. Don't bother seeing any other dermatologist! read more
