I had special requests since my son didn't really need help with high school classes and she was more than happy to accommodate. I asked Carol if she could help my son with improving his scores on the SAT (+200), help with writing personal statements, and help keeping him organized with deadlines for college applications. Carol did an amazing job assigning him homework and giving him direction on how to research schools, fill out applications, etc. I referred her to another kid on the soccer team that needed that extra boost. My son liked her and she was a great motivator and personable. I don't think I could have got through Senior year without her on our side- She was worth every penny and lifted the stress off my shoulders as a single mother that has never been through the college process. Thank you so much Carol! Brandon and Christine

We are beyond grateful to have found Kids With An Edge. The impact their tutoring has had on our…read moredaughter's performance at school is more than we could have asked for. To provide some context, in December of 2022, our daughter's first grade teachers summoned us for a conference to discuss her progress with ELA and Mathematics. At this point in time, they were very concerned that she was not performing at grade level and even attempted to hand us a packet for special education to consider it for our daughter. We decided to push back, asked for six months to work with her and tutors before proceeding down that path. We first attempted Varsity tutors, but it just did not meet our needs. Then we found Ms. Payton and Mrs. Anu, and something magical happened. Within a few sessions, her teachers started making comments about her wonderful progress. By March 2023 (the date we set for a follow-up on her progress), her teachers could not stop raving about her progress. Fast forward to her final conference in June, and she surpassed all of their expectations and is now on track to be ready for second grade. What has stuck out the most is their repeated comments of how much confidence she has now. Because they have provided her with the tools to work through ELA and Mathematics, our daughter actually enjoys it now (before she would cry at the mention of either). She even walks around with a notebook practicing equations all on her own! If you are considering tutoring for your child, do not look any further!

Since starting there, she's never complained about having to go to tutoring (which is A Big Deal) and in fact she's always in good spirits when she goes in and comes back out. On top of that, her MAPS math score that just came out was a 93 (an increase of 14 points from her previous score) and I've no doubt that Alyssa's help was a large part of the reason for that increase. I definitely recommend Alyssa and Liddane if you or your kiddo need a bit of extra help!

Varsity Tutors hooked me up with a statistics professor who was capably able to walk me through the equations and answer my questions. It was an excellent one-on-one lesson, exactly what I needed. The session was recorded, so I could take screenshots later as lecture notes. The whiteboard was supposed to be saved for download and that didn't work, but with the recording available I was able to use the screenshots instead. A glitch but no biggie. Unfortunately I had to stop my lessons due to work priorities but when I continue again I will definitely contact Hadrien. Apart from the usual grammar lessons, he taught me phrases that are not in French text books (colloquialisms, slang, cultural references). He is completely bilingual in English and French so he can translate expertly. I was frankly amazed and impressed by his ability to clearly explain the nuances of every word. One of the reasons I selected Hadrien as my teacher was the fact that he is from Paris. His accent is Parisian and I wanted to learn how to pronounce the Parisian way, or at least the way French is pronounced in France. I have had lessons with French speakers from Quebec and parts of Africa and certainly the regional differences in accent are audible. During the time I had tutoring with Hadrien I was also taking a class at the Alliance Française. I found my one-on-one time with Hadrien extremely helpful as I had the opportunity to clarify things I learned in class, or expand upon some grammar rule or another. Whether you are a beginner or an advanced French student, you can definitely benefit from sessions with Hadrien. Bonne chance!

As other reviewers have mentioned, you also learn a natural style of speech in his classes that is hard to find elsewhere, but will make it much much easier to follow conversations, media, and jokes.

We started to notice that our daughter was having anxiety around approaching math and other schoolwork where the steps were ambiguous. She felt there must be a single way to arrive at the answer and would perseverate rather than just digging into the problem. Flux worked with our daughter's teacher to develop an action plan. Over the course of 10 lessons, they worked on fun but complex word problems that allowed our daughter to recognize all the different information she could use to solve the problem. They drew pictures and tested concepts, and after each session our daughter couldn't wait to walk us through the problem and the process she used to solve it. Flux helped her identify anxiety triggers, do deep breathing, and build her confidence, and she kept math fun and exciting the entire time. She has been a really great mentor and is fantastic about tailoring a program to our daughter's needs.
