However, this fitting ran really smoothly. She had picked out a range of pieces for me to try out, and in 2 hours, I experimented with a broad range of different looks. She kept the selection under my budget, and tracked the essential pieces I needed. It was truly an eye-opening and confidence-building experience! I met Raquel a couple of months ago and with some trepidation I decided to use her services. I am style and fashion-challenged and got tired of spending money on clothes that just hung in my closet. I had used a personal stylist at Nordstrom's before and while I like her she had very different taste and wasn't picking things I felt comfortable in and I felt like I was spending way more than I should. I had such an AMAZING and FUN experience doing my closet raid with Raquel. I was not sure what to expect as I had never done anything like this before. She sent me some pre-work to do before our appointment and it was an incredible learning experience about me, my style, and what I really wanted and didn't want in my wardrobe. We were able to create about 10 different looks all together. I had a workshop series coming up and she dressed me to the 9's and everyone raved about my look for the night. As well as a HOT date night outfit that my man was IN LOVE with. I loved how she walked right into my chaotic closet with no judgment and said do you wear this, its so not you, and with much ease I said lets put it in the GOTTA GO pile. Working with Raquel was great! I've recently come to terms that I'm an emotional shopper and faced a closet was an anxiety-inducing, uncohesive mess. I did a huge purge on my own, which left me with a lot of random things and a loss of what to put together in my current wardrobe. I initially contacted Raquel to run a color analysis and learn the basics of styling for my body so I could be a smarter shopper in the future. We chatted about my lifestyle and personal goals, then she sent along some homework. It was great to stop and think critically about my style, likes, and dislikes. Yesterday I had a color analysis and closet clean-out with Raquel and am still grinning over what we were able to do in just a couple of hours. My closet was packed with OK but not great clothes. I was tired of having a full closet and nothing good to wear. I had toyed with the idea of hiring an image consultant, but honestly I had trouble wrapping my mind around hiring somebody to help me GET RID of clothes. I did the consult yesterday because Raquel was generous enough to donate a session to the Wright House's silent auction and I was the lucky winner. I ended up buying an extra hour and plan to do another session. She analyzed my coloring and gave me a workbook with details and a color swatch. We sorted through and tried on a lot of my clothes and now I'm sending around 60 things to Goodwill! She also took a dozen photos of me in new outfits, combining pieces I already had in ways that never occurred to me. So now I'm a convert! Rather than spend money buying clothes that aren't spectacular on me, I plan to work with Raquel to mine my closet for hidden gems and fill in the (few) gaps with key pieces that work for me. Geek Alert! I am a bit frugal and really had a hard time wrapping my mind around paying someone to help me clean out my closet. Well I'm so glad I did! Raquel was great! She listened to me, made me do a few exercises to understand my style preferences, then we plowed in to purge the closet. She helped me figure out how to wear some of my more unusual or vintage pieces and easily pared down my 15 + year collection of clothes. She worked quickly and efficiently while keeping my style and personality in mind. She followed up immediately with photos of some of the outfits she created so I could recreate them on my own. There were many ah-ha moments on my part, she was so creative with the clothes in my closet. Finally, for my frugal self, real estate in my neighborhood runs about $230 a square foot - and Raquel helped me find at least a square foot if not more in her first visit! I initially contacted Raquel just to do personal color analysis. After meeting with her I realized she would be able to provide more help for me. We have just begun reviewing my closet, and she has given me ideas of how to use what I already have in order to develop new looks. She works with helping me get out of my comfort zone (jeans and tees), but not so far away that I am uncomfortable. She is amazing in what she seems to see in my closet and is able to put together.
